Rancho Santa Fe Thrift & Loan Reviews (1)

Review: I bought a Jeep, Grand Cherokee Laredo around 2005. When I first got the vehicle the dealership allowed us to leave the dealership while our financing options were being looked at. Approximately three (3) weeks later I received a call from the dealership that I was financed with the above listed company. Shortly, after the call from the dealership Rancho Santa Fe contacted me and stated I was late on my first payment. I explained to them what had happen and we agreed to change the due date so, all the other payments would be on time.

After being notified that my first payment was late I made the remaining payments on the date agreed upon, so I thought. Eventually, I traded that vehicle in for my current vehicle. After the dealership fully paid off that account in 2011, I received a refund check from the dealership, according to them, I paid too much each month and the refund was owed to me. I was unaware of Rancho Santa Fe reporting my payments later for such a long period of time.

As I had believed the matter to be resolved, and being fairly ignorant of FICO scoring, I did not believe there was reason to check my credit reports until just recently. I immediately called Rancho Santa Fe and spoke to one of their account specialists who said that it was “too late” to fix, and apologized. This error is causing a serious problem with my attempts to obtain a mortgage. Currently, they are reporting the debit as paid, but 120 days late???Desired Settlement: I want to them to honor the due date change and delete the 120 days late remarks, since the account is paid off in full.

Response:

We contacted Mr. [redacted] by phone and email. We explained that we never reported him 120 days late. We believe that he misinterpreted 4 times late by 30 days as 120 days late. We also offered to have the 4 times late removed from his report even though it is correct. He states that the mortgage person was writing a letter disputing the reporting so we are waiting for that to come thru. In the meantime Mr. [redacted] was supposed to send us a copy of the report so we could verify that it was reported at 4 times 30 days. We have not heard from him up to this point.

Thank you,

[redacted]. [redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. They have been working with me as they have stated. Also, for the record, I have sent a copy of the report, but told they were unable to read the information on it. Below is the email I got from them about the report I sent:

I’ve talked to the VP and he’s agreed to delete the trade-line if you dispute the reporting with the credit bureaus. We’ve both looked at the account and cannot find anything wrong with the way we’ve reported the account, and neither of can decipher the coding from the information you sent.
