Review: I am considered permanently physically disabled by the state of california. I also have a leg shorter than the other due to a broken femur. The wheelchair ramp leading up to the tables within the restaurant is dimly lit, has multi-colored patterns and there are no visible warnings or indication of a slope marking this aisle. The manager came out the second time I visited and said that since I was limping down the ramp, he would force me to call a cab. I explained that one leg was shorter than the other, there was no marking on the banister saying that it was sloped, I didn't fall or use the banister. He would not recognize my statement, escorted me out the door to identify my vehicle, forced me to park it in a particular spot and called a cab for me which I had to pay for.This boils down to one bartender there, [redacted] who is a control freak. I worked with a guy like this for five years. I know the type. The other bartenders like me and had no problems with me, would give me a couple drinks, but not [redacted] unless he was setting me up.On May 24th I came to the bar simply to get the liquor license number so I could file a complaint with ATF and the liquor licensing board. I requested water from the bartender and she gladly gave it to me and offered me liquor. I refused it, saying that the manager had told me that due to his wildly incorrect accusations, based on what [redacted] had told him, I was not privy to being served alcohol there, and just wanted to see the liquor license. I explained that I had a balance impairment and limped due to different leg lengths. She said she would go get the manager. I asked manager [redacted] nicely 3 times but he refused to show me his liquor license. He then 86'ed me and threatened me saying he would call the cops if I didn't leave. and lie saying I had made the Disabled Servicea man mad a month before when I had truly said that I had been in 2001 Wheelchair Soccer Nationals as a goalie, and he offered me to join the new team, which I politely refusedDesired Settlement: The law was violated by refusing to show me their liquor license. The law was violated when they incorrectly and maliciously mis-labelled my physical disability.

Business

Response:

This person came in several times over the period of a couple of months, and each time consumed about 4 alcoholic beverages in less than an hour. Each time, he became belligerent, threatening, and disruptive toward our staff and other guests. This has led to our concerns about this patron drinking and driving, and at least once we have even taken his keys from him and insisted on him taking a cab. Subsequently, we focused our efforts on his drinking habits, and attempted to slow down his consumption of alcohol to a more normal rate. He resisted this effort, and on his last visit, was notified that he was banned from making a future return to our restaurant and bar. We have no knowledge of this individual having any visible physical disabilities.

As to the claim that this guest was refused his demand to see our ABC license, it is posted in our display case at the front of the restaurant. However, I am not aware of any requirement for us to show that license on demand to a non officer of law enforcement. Regardless, showing our liquor license to a belligerent drunk that we were escorting out the front door would have made no difference in the outcome of events, other than to delay them.
