Randy Smith's Electric Reviews (6)

I am rejecting this response because:The service provided by your workers was not worth $and you know it By industry standards, your pricing is outrageous If we had used a reputable local electrician who tells customers outright what their fees are, it would have cost $for the first hour of work $was more than the industry standard for the time and effort provided When I shared your invoice indicating a $charge for a "single circuit analysis", the other company laughed at "single circuit analysis" (what is that???) and pointed out that there were no details of the work or the additional charges Then they stated, that explains why Randy's is on Angie's list gouging customers with a bogus coupon to bring in business, where the coupon amounts to nothing more than a $trip charge, because your actual service charges start over and above the coupon value $was more in line with the service provided A $trip charge is outrageous, especially since "you don't stock equipment on your trucks" Your lack of disclosure shows no integrity I reread other people's comments and reviews, as well as Revdex.com complaints Apparently, we are not the only schmucks that fell for your ruse We will never use you again Social media is a strong defense against contractors and companies that gouge customersI will provide copies of your invoice to other electrical companies for their use as enticement for customers to choose them vs Randy's I've already filed a complaint with Angie's List to alert them to your coupon scam, that operates so slightly above the law, as not to get busted Your low level of integrity and customer service will catch up with you, and rightly so

Service Provider Response:EditThank you for your feedbackI am sorry you did not have a good experienceWhen the electrician arrived he did a circuit analysis with your approval, and installed a GFCI that was neededThe fluorescent lights had LED bulbs installed instead of a fluorescent
bulb and would not workUnfortunately, the electricians are not able to keep specialty bulbs in stock on their trucksWe did give you credit for the Angie's List Coupon you purchased, waived the trip charge with the use of the coupon and installed a GFCI outlet for the price that you paid Sincerely, Randy's Electric

Thank you for your feedbackWhen the electrician arrived at your home, he was not able to diagnose it it was the light fixture or the circuitHe needed to run a circuit analysis to determine the problem, which you approved before he moved ahead with the work. He finally determined the wrong light bulbs (LED) were in the fixture, but still could not determine if the ballasts were good because LED light bulbs had been installed instead of the required florescent bulb in the fixture. He also installed a GFCI outlet. A single circuit analysis was done for a cost of $322, he also installed a GFCI outlet at no additional charge. You had a coupon for $toward the work which left a balance of $122. The coupon was not for specific work but toward your total bill. I hope this helps you understand the charges. Thank you again, Randy's Electric

Thank you for reaching out to us.The electrician followed our process before proceeding to do the work. He gave an upfront price and received your permission to move forward with the work at that priceI am sorry that now after the fact you do not agree with the pricingHowever, I hope you
understand that the work performed by the electrician is backed with a lifetime warrantyAll of this to say, we were happy to apply a $discount to the job and believe this to be fair.Thank you.MaryJo ***Randy's Electric###-###-#### us why here

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/10/29) */
Thank you for the inquiry
It is true we charged this customer an emergency trip charge of $This customer called in and requested same day serviceOur schedule was full, and so for situations such as this - we will take emergency
appointments and typically they are taken care of at the end of the scheduled appointmentsThe customer always has the option of agreeing or not, to the emergency trip chargeHe agreed to the $chargeThere is occasions in which we are able to unexpectedly maneuver through the schedule and take care of emergencies sooner rather than laterWhen this happens, we are happy to delight the customer by taking care of their problem sooner rather than laterWe were in a position to delight this customer and get to them sooner than we expected
In this case, the customer has a circuit panel that had a problem with a breakerTo make matters worse, it is a circuit panel that most often are replaced rather than repaired because of the known fire hazards about this make and modelOur electrician charged 1/price of a single circuit diagnosis for resetting a breaker, offered an estimate on replacing the service panel and of course the emergency trip chargeShortly after the fact, the customer called in to complain about the 1/price of the single circuit diagnosisAt that time, I agreed to reduce the price by another half
I am sorry the customer feels as if he was taken advantage of - that was certainly not the caseIn fact, we did more than go above and beyond for this customer

I am rejecting this response because:The service provided by your workers was not worth $and you know it. By industry standards, your pricing is outrageous. If we had used a reputable local electrician who tells customers outright what their fees are, it would have cost $for the first hour of work. $was more than the industry standard for the time and effort provided. When I shared your invoice indicating a $charge for a "single circuit analysis", the other company laughed at "single circuit analysis" (what is that???) and pointed out that there were no details of the work or the additional charges. Then they stated, that explains why Randy's is on Angie's list gouging customers with a bogus coupon to bring in business, where the coupon amounts to nothing more than a $trip charge, because your actual service charges start over and above the coupon value. $was more in line with the service provided. A $trip charge is outrageous, especially since "you don't stock equipment on your trucks". Your lack of disclosure shows no integrity. I reread other people's comments and reviews, as well as Revdex.com complaints. Apparently, we are not the only schmucks that fell for your ruse. We will never use you again. Social media is a strong defense against contractors and companies that gouge customersI will provide copies of your invoice to other electrical companies for their use as enticement for customers to choose them vs Randy's. I've already filed a complaint with Angie's List to alert them to your coupon scam, that operates so slightly above the law, as not to get busted. Your low level of integrity and customer service will catch up with you, and rightly so
