[redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] sent us two rifles as he stated; a 30-and a RSAUMHe told us the 30-had extraction/ejection issuesWhen I took the barreled action out of the stock for inspection and to rebed it, as he stated he did not like the [redacted] Custom Shop bedding, my first indication that this may be a client we'd have a problem with was that there was not a thing wrong with the bedding done by the [redacted] shopSince he stated he had extraction issues, I needed to check the chamber of the barrel for finish and correct headspaceI put the barrel in my barrel vise and unscrewed the barrel by hand as it was never tightened before I received itIt should require a wrench to unscrewI inspected the chamber under 25x power magnificationI then polished it with grit, cleared, and reinstalled the barrel tightly, not loosely as it came to me [which would have been a safety issue]ALL barrels removed in this shop are given an index mark to return them to the original setting in relationship to the lug and action to prevent a barrel not being tightened enough, as was the case when I received thisThis is a practice done by barrel makers and rifle makers for centuriesThis is ALL standard procedure here and in other shopsI went through the trigger for correct adjustment all aspects, checked the pull weight and tested it for reliability to assure against accidental discharge, I then function tested the safetyI rebedded the action and floated the barrel [a barrel that is not floated will not be accurate]I put a scope mount base on the rifle and mounted a scope on the rifle and shot rounds through the rife using our test loads confirming accuracyThe rifle extracted and ejected each and every round flawlessly, verifying a correct working systemThe fact this rifle ejected and extracted properly was witnessed by a client of 32+ yearsHe also operated the rifle and it functioned 100% for him, alsoThis rifle, the 30-06, was sent to [redacted] and he called and said I didn't fix the problemThe rifle was tested here with no issues found [redacted] operation of the rifle is the problemI instructed [redacted] in how to use and function the rifle with authority, as intended He became rude, belligerent and was obtuseI told him [redacted] designed the rifle to function as I described, with authorityHe continued his argumentative, rude and bombastic tirade and I told him if he wouldn't listen to instruction, if he was going to continue to be rude, the conversation was overHe tried to argueI hung upHe tried to call back three timesWe have a policy not to talk to clients that get angry and belligerentHe even sent an email telling us that if our other clients with 30-06's are satisfied and the work well, they must all be incompetentI have worked on hundreds, if not thousands of these rifles by now, in the 45+ years of rifle workThey are manufactured by certain standards of the company, and all of them need to be operated with authorityOnly [redacted] seems to feel that he is more of an expert on them than I amMy other clients are quite happy with them, and I can assure you, none of them are incompetent, but very experienced shootersI WILL NOT tolerate rude behaviorI will and have worked with clients if they felt they had problems, would listen to instruction and were polite to resolve any real or imagined problemsBut when someone shouts, calls rude names, denigrates my integrity, my knowledge, my ability, my clients and is not willing to listen to instructions or even try what I suggestIf anyone acts as he does, I wash my handsHe continued to write denigrating emails, insulting me and my past and present clientsThis is NOT acceptable behavior in our worldMaybe he gets by with it wherever he goes, but it won't fly here Pg 2, Revdex.com/RE-***: When the [redacted] barrel arrived, I barreled his RSAUM as requested with a 24" barrel from ***, duplicated to within ten thousands of an inch of his previous barrel and fluted it with flutesI trued his action, threads, receiver face and lapped he lugsI then bead blasted itI glass bedded the action and free floated the barrelI checked this trigger in all aspects, and for adjustments; I function tested it and the safetyI did an impact test against accidental dischargeI assembled the rifleI fired it with a test load, extracted the spent case and ejected it, verifying a correctly functioning rifle in all aspectsI sent this to ShaneAgain, he became rude, not asking, but demanding, ordering, we do this or that, if I didn't follow his demands he'd get in touch with Revdex.comSince I have done excellent work for him, as I do for all of our clients, who, by the way, are happy and satisfied clients, and he is not satisfied, and is rude, belligerent and threatening, I washed my hans of himHe didn't like the barrel [top of the line barrel, by the way], he didn't like the flutes, etcFlutes are machined and do leave microscopic machine marksHe did not request grinding and polishing and as he claims to be such an expert, he knows if that is what is wanted, it is not only something that needs to be requested, there is also an additional charge of $in this shopHe wasn't pleased with the cost of fluting aloneHe complained about the barrel crownFor his information, I lap with a grit, lap the edge of the crown at the barrel bore, and inspect it under 25x bore scopeAll of his claims of being wronged are falseWe suspect, the way he talked about other gunsmiths prior to getting the work, he way he denigrated [redacted] and ***, that he is a serial complainer and may have Revdex.com letters all over the countryHe is the personality type that thinks he is perfect, but no one else is, therefore he is entitled to any demands he makesWe don't owe [redacted] anything as all work was performed correctly and his rifles, as function tested here, work just fineIt is the nut behind the triggerThe work I did for [redacted] is routine work that I perform for hundreds of clients on hundreds of makes and models of riflesI DO know what I am doing, and DO have very competent and savvy clients who are quite pleased with my work, many are multiple repeat clients over the last 45+ years [redacted] built the Mod actions on both of his riflesIf he doesn't like the way they designed them, and how they function as a result of the design, or if he is incapable of properly using them [our other clients have no problem, or the few that have listened to instruction, acted on the instructions given, and now properly operate their Remrifles], then he needs to demand that Remowes him something for designing rifles he is not smart enough to operate correctlyShane, by his own choice, sent his RSUAM to someone else to have work done, yet would like me to pay for itHe ran the bill up, so he can pay for itI suspect that he won't be happy with that work, eitherAll rifles that leave this shop and are taken apart and worked on by someone else, are modified in any way, void any claims or obligations by us to foot the billWe did not agree to this, we did not authorize itAll shipping costs are [redacted] responsibility as he alone chose to ship elsewhere, which, by necessity means it has to be shipped back to himAgain, without our agreement or authorization for billingWe are not his slavesWe are not his punching bagsHis complete rudeness, his denigration of anything he could think of, including our clients shut the door firmly on contactPoliteness, common courtesy, does not seem to be a part of some people [redacted] is his own problem and I cannot fix himBetween him and now you, writing this letter, our e-mails to him, nasty calls we received from him, all have taken valuable time from my workI get $250/hour for my time for dealing with problem clientsOver and above the work I did as a matter of course for Shane, as I do for all clients, he and now you, have taken up over hours of my timeLawyers, doctors and other professionals charge when you use their timeMy time is no less valuableI now bill [redacted] for hours of my time for a total of $500.00, payable upon receiptDo not contact us any furtherWe have nothing further to say to [redacted] or you on this matterNo calls, no e-mails, no mailAnd No, we won't join Revdex.comPeriod

[redacted] Good morning ***,Attached is some additional documentation supporting my complaint I've included the email conversations that I had with [redacted] Rifle Barrels who was the company that I used to correct the issues with my (2) rifles Also, I attached the (2) invoices I received from [redacted] Barrels and the (1) letter that I received from Randy S [redacted] regarding the extraction issues after his repair attempt with the first rifleJust to give you a little background on [redacted] Barrels, I selected them to repair my rifles because they were the manufacturer of the rifle barrel that Randy used on my RSAUM The service I received from [redacted] was second to none They were understanding of my situation and treated me more than fair I would ask to not involve them in this dispute I intend on doing business with these folks in the future and I do not want to do anything to jeopardize that relationshipTo sum it up, [redacted] removed the barrel on the RSAUM and turned it down closer to the original barrel contour, re-cut the flutes, and re-cut the muzzle crown The barrel was reinstalled and the complete rifle was bead blasted to remove any light tooling marks In the end, [redacted] only charged me for the return shipping of this rifle Honestly I was not expecting this and this is one reason I am not seeking a fully refund from Randy for his services. On the 30/06, [redacted] re-set the barrel and bead blasted the entire rifle to remove any handling marks The total cost of this service was $115.If you need any more information please let me know Thank youRegards,Attachments Preview attachment [redacted] Conversation 1.pdfPDF [redacted] Conversation 1.pdfPreview attachment [redacted] Conversation 2.pdfPDF [redacted] Conversation 2.pdfPreview attachment ***.docxWord***.docxPreview attachment ***2.docxWord***2.docxPreview attachment Randy S***.docxWordRandy S***.docxPreview attachment [redacted] RSAUM.pdfPDF [redacted] RSAUM.pdfPreview attachment [redacted] 3006.pdfPDF [redacted] 3006.pdfPreview attachment Randy S [redacted] Letter.pdfPDFRandy S [redacted] Letter.pdf

Revdex.com: I would like my complaint ID [redacted] , to be handled through an Arbitration hearing with Revdex.com However, If I need to be present in either CO or MT for the arbitration I don't think it would make much sense due to the financial commitment Also, I don't believe MrS [redacted] would accept the arbitration request which would not only waste my time but it would also waste the arbitrator's time Is there a possibilility to do the arbitration over the phone? Complaint: [redacted] Complaint: [redacted] I am writing in response to the letter I received from Randy's Custom Rifles following my initial complaint I filed with the Revdex.comI realize that by questioning Randy's work I have offended him, and that is understandableHowever, as a consumer I feel that it is my right to stand up when I receive a product that shows obvious quality and workmanship issuesRandy claims that quality and customer satisfaction are his top priority but based on my experience, I would have to disagreeBelow is a statement that I pulled from his website:GUARANTEE, TERMS, CONDITIONS AND DEPOSIT POLICY ALL SALES ARE FINALOUR WORK IS GUARANTEED TO SATISFY AND WE WILL WORK WITH YOU TO ASSURE YOUR RIFLE IS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY, AND MEETS THE TERMS AGREED UPON AT POINT OF SALE At no point in my relationship with Randy's Custom Rifles, was there an attempt to correct the issues that I identifiedWhen I received the first rifle back (30/06), I contacted Randy via telephone to discuss my concernsThe conversation started out civil, however instead of addressing the issues, Randy repeatedly told me I did not know how to operate the gun properlyWhen I continued to try to address my concerns his eventual response was "what is your problem," and he abruptly hung up the phoneAt no point in our conversation did I use offensive or derogatory languageI made several immediate attempts to call him back but he would not answer the phoneThe fact that he still had one of my rifles concerned me because at this point I did not trust him and had no confidence in his abilitiesI did not know the status of my second rifle since it had been in Randy's possession for over a monthMy fear was that if I told him to stop work he would be unresponsive or it would arrive at my door in an unusable or salvagable conditionI finally did receive a brief response via email however it did not address any of my concernsIn regards to the second rifle (RSAUM), I hired Randy to flute/install a new [redacted] Barrel, bed the action, and adjust the factory triggerWhen I received the rifle back, there were obvious workmanship and quality issuesThe barrel contour did not match the original (requested), the flutes showed wandering/chipping marks, and there was no documentation on the adjusted trigger pullThe most apparent issue which Randy mentioned in his response was regarding the flutes that he machined into the new barrelAs you can see from the attached photographs the workmanship is poor and is not something you would expect to see from a gunsmith with over (45+) years of experienceIn order to fix this issue, [redacted] Rifle barrels had to remove the barrel from the receiver, turn it down and re-cut the flutesAs indicated in Randy's response, I do not agree that any amount of grinding or polishing that could have fixed this issueThe bottom line is that both rifles required re-work to correct the issues caused by the work performed while they were in Randy's careI believe it is fair to request compensation for these repairs, however based on my dealings with Randy, I don't believe he is willing to take ownership of his productI can't tell others how to spend their hard earned money but I would strongly suggest to not use Randy's Custom RiflesThe workmanship and quality is not what you would expect from a gunsmith with (45+) years of experienceI believe my statement is justified by how Randy chose to conclude his response to my complaint listed below:"DO NOT CONTACT US ANY FURTHERWE HAVE NOTHING FURTHER TO SAY TO [redacted] OR YOU ON THIS MATTERNO CALLS, NO EMAILS, NO MAILEAND NO, WE WON'T JOIN Revdex.comPERIOD."In addition, I have included my complete email correspondence that I had with Randy during the course of this projectAlthough I was clear on my expectations, at no point was I rude, belligerant, or threateningI believe that Randy's attempt to construe the facts is dishonest therefore I reject his response.Regards, [redacted] Regards, [redacted] ***

*** *** sent us two rifles as he stated; a 30-and a RSAUMHe told us the 30-had extraction/ejection issuesWhen I took the barreled action out of
the stock for inspection and to rebed it, as he stated he did not like the *** Custom Shop bedding, my first indication that this may be a client we'd have a problem with was that there was not a thing wrong with the bedding done by the *** shop. Since he stated he had extraction issues, I needed to check the chamber of the barrel for finish and correct headspaceI put the barrel in my barrel vise and unscrewed the barrel by hand as it was never tightened before I received itIt should require a wrench to unscrew. I inspected the chamber under 25x power magnificationI then polished it with grit, cleared, and reinstalled the barrel tightly, not loosely as it came to me [which would have been a safety issue]ALL barrels removed in this shop are given an index mark to return them to the original setting in relationship to the lug and action to prevent a barrel not being tightened enough, as was the case when I received thisThis is a practice done by barrel makers and rifle makers for centuriesThis is ALL standard procedure here and in other shops. I went through the trigger for correct adjustment all aspects, checked the pull weight and tested it for reliability to assure against accidental discharge, I then function tested the safety. I rebedded the action and floated the barrel [a barrel that is not floated will not be accurate]I put a scope mount base on the rifle and mounted a scope on the rifle and shot rounds through the rife using our test loads confirming accuracyThe rifle extracted and ejected each and every round flawlessly, verifying a correct working systemThe fact this rifle ejected and extracted properly was witnessed by a client of 32+ yearsHe also operated the rifle and it functioned 100% for him, also. I have worked on hundreds, if not thousands of these rifles by now, in the 45+ years of rifle workThey are manufactured by certain standards of the company, and all of them need to be operated with authorityOnly *** seems to feel that he is more of an expert on them than I amMy other clients are quite happy with them, and I can assure you, none of them are incompetent, but very experienced shooters. I WILL NOT tolerate rude behaviorI will and have worked with clients if they felt they had problems, would listen to instruction and were polite to resolve any real or imagined problemsBut when someone shouts, calls rude names, denigrates my integrity, my knowledge, my ability, my clients and is not willing to listen to instructions or even try what I suggestIf anyone acts as he does, I wash my handsHe continued to write denigrating emails, insulting me and my past and present clientsThis is NOT acceptable behavior in our worldMaybe he gets by with it wherever he goes, but it won't fly here. Complaint: ***I am writing in response to the letter I received from Randy's Custom Rifles following my initial complaint I filed with the Revdex.comI realize that by questioning Randy's work I have offended him, and that is understandableHowever, as a consumer I feel that it is my right to stand up when I receive a product that shows obvious quality and workmanship issuesRandy claims that quality and customer satisfaction are his top priority but based on my experience, I would have to disagreeBelow is a statement that I pulled from his website:GUARANTEE, TERMS, CONDITIONS AND DEPOSIT POLICY
ALL SALES ARE FINALOUR WORK IS GUARANTEED TO SATISFY AND WE WILL WORK WITH YOU TO ASSURE YOUR RIFLE IS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY, AND MEETS THE TERMS AGREED UPON AT POINT OF SALE At no point in my relationship with Randy's Custom Rifles, was there an attempt to correct the issues that I identifiedWhen I received the first rifle back (30/06), I contacted Randy via telephone to discuss my concernsThe conversation started out civil, however instead of addressing the issues, Randy repeatedly told me I did not know how to operate the gun properlyWhen I continued to try to address my concerns his eventual response was "what is your problem," and he abruptly hung up the phoneAt no point in our conversation did I use offensive or derogatory languageI made several immediate attempts to call him back but he would not answer the phoneThe fact that he still had one of my rifles concerned me because at this point I did not trust him and had no confidence in his abilitiesI did not know the status of my second rifle since it had been in Randy's possession for over a monthMy fear was that if I told him to stop work he would be unresponsive or it would arrive at my door in an unusable or salvagable conditionI finally did receive a brief response via email however it did not address any of my concernsIn regards to the second rifle (RSAUM), I hired Randy to flute/install a new *** Barrel, bed the action, and adjust the factory triggerWhen I received the rifle back, there were obvious workmanship and quality issuesThe barrel contour did not match the original (requested), the flutes showed wandering/chipping marks, and there was no documentation on the adjusted trigger pullThe most apparent issue which Randy mentioned in his response was regarding the flutes that he machined into the new barrelAs you can see from the attached photographs the workmanship is poor and is not something you would expect to see from a gunsmith with over (45+) years of experienceIn order to fix this issue, *** Rifle barrels had to remove the barrel from the receiver, turn it down and re-cut the flutesAs indicated in Randy's response, I do not agree that any amount of grinding or polishing that could have fixed this issueThe bottom line is that both rifles required re-work to correct the issues caused by the work performed while they were in Randy's careI believe it is fair to request compensation for these repairs, however based on my dealings with Randy, I don't believe he is willing to take ownership of his productI can't tell others how to spend their hard earned money but I would strongly suggest to not use Randy's Custom RiflesThe workmanship and quality is not what you would expect from a gunsmith with (45+) years of experienceI believe my statement is justified by how Randy chose to conclude his response to my complaint listed below:"DO NOT CONTACT US ANY FURTHERWE HAVE NOTHING FURTHER TO SAY TO *** *** OR YOU ON THIS MATTERNO CALLS, NO EMAILS, NO MAILEAND NO, WE WON'T JOIN Revdex.comPERIOD."In addition, I have included my complete email correspondence that I had with Randy during the course of this projectAlthough I was clear on my expectations, at no point was I rude, belligerant, or threateningI believe that Randy's attempt to construe the facts is dishonest therefore I reject his response.Regards,*** ***
