I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I totally disagree with the business response due to the fact that we pay top dollar for a product that is defective from manufacturerAs per the business response, they are fully aware of the of this issueThe range hood was professionally installed and all the guidelines from the manufacturer were observedThis is a product that regardless of the distance is exposed to the heat and this is a hazardous for the end usersI will not pay for any expenses as requested by the company representativeWe are not even asking for compensation, we just asking to get the warranty on a defective product that should be under full warranty

Response:Our standard hoods come with aluminum filters, which state that there are plastic housing. Also, it is suggested to put our hoods at least 28-31" in case of any grease fires. On...

our site, we sell stainless steel baffle filters for an upgrade of $64-$99; however, due to her situation, I offered Ms. [redacted] free aluminum filters even though they are not covered under warranty or to pay for shipping for the baffle filters. She declined to both, which then I suggested to contact [redacted] where she purchased it so they might be able to provide baffle filters for free.

Review: On 13 January, 2015, I bought a Cavaliere 198B2 30" Wall Mounted Range Hood [redacted] from the online department of Range Hoods Inc.

The product has not performed well from the very start after installation.

I understand that the timing of the decline of the range hood does not fall into your 30-day return policy. Once I purchased the range hood and it was delivered, it took almost 2 months before both the contractor and the electrician were available to install the hood. The hood remained untouched in its original box until they were able to begin installation. But the issues that have happened with this range hood clearly do not fall into any kind of “wear and tear” or normal usage of any product. Let me explain.

Both the electrician and the contractor tested the range hood by plugging it in, as directed, before installation. All seemed fine. The hood was installed and inspected by the [redacted] electrical inspector. After a few weeks of use (and by use I mean lights a few times a week; fan maybe once a week at most), one of the lights in the hood started flickering; at times it would just go out completely. At my own expense, and after some time of waiting for my electrician it seemed the light problem was a connector issue. By now, neither light worked at all. And the fan was very noisy .

[redacted] sent me a new light computer, with no instructions at all but emailed photographs. Again, at my expense, the electrician tried to fix the hood. He immediately saw that there are warped pieces within; even some wearing, erosion-like damage on the fan motor itself. He tried the fan again, which was making a very loud noise, and we could even smell a burning odor. We gave up on the lights, as this is a much more serious issue. I believe that this range hood, which never worked well from the very start, is now a fire hazard in my house.Desired Settlement: At this point, I want this obviously inferior and faulty range hood out of my house. Frankly, due to the fact that it never worked according to claims, I don’t think the 30-day time frame means anything at all. I don’t believe a product that is so infrequently used should be literally melting after significantly less than a year.

To resolve the problem, I would like my money refunded, and I want this range hood out of my home. I will happily ship it back to [redacted] at their expense. I have already paid the contractor and my electrician for installation of this faulty hood; have paid the electrician twice for attempting to fix it; and will have to pay the contractor again to remove the range hood. I am not even asking for [redacted] to pay those fees; none of which should ever have been necessary in the first place.
