Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/05/05) */
In response to this complaint from the customer regarding poor workmanship and numerous other allegationsI would like to state the facts with regard to the interactions with this customerI initially met with the customer and gave
him an estimate for workHe did tell me that my price was substantially higher than another estimate and when he told me who the other estimate was from, I happen to know the person and company and know them to be unlicensed and without workers compensation insurance, bonds, etcI did not pressure this customer into doing business but merely offered my estimate and he accepted and we wrote a contractOf note, after the contract was in place, a significant change with regard to his fireplace occurred and instead of this being a floor to ceiling fireplace he wanted this to be suspended and additional, special clips, need to be used for this and I agreed to include this at no additional costAt that time I was able to complete the job in a timely fashion but there was a delay in material selection by the customerHe did seem extremely concerned regarding which material to chooseI let him know that the engineered quartz products we use are very durable and scratch resistantHe was interested but decided to purchase his own material, this is always fine with me but does add some responsibility on the homeowner as, if I don't purchase the material then the quality, variations, etcof the material does fall on the homeowner to researchI did mention this to the customer and I also stated that the engineered quartz products I use cannot be purchased by anyone other than certified fabricators as these do have various warranties with regard to the material itselfHe asked the pricing and I gave it to him and the price was apparently more than he wanted to spend so he went to another supplier and picked out a less expensive materialAnother point of clarification is, I have had problems with material purchased from the supplier he was using in the pastI let him know this prior to him purchasing and advised that we would not be held responsible for problems with the materialWe then discussed design ideas for his kitchen and he requested the number of slabs to do this portion of his job and I advisedHe was also doing other areas and I assumed he had other material picked out and did not include this in the amount of slabs I told him to purchase for the kitchenI do take responsibility for this assumption, as there should have been more discussion on what exact material was intended for all areas, not just the areas where design was being discussed
The kitchen was installed and at the time of installation the homeowner informed us he wanted the counters to be raised further than the standard heightWe stopped installation and purchased additional plywood to install and completed the plywoodWe also were installing an area where a mitered edge dropped to the floorThe correct way to do this is to have all the rough electrical boxes in place to make the cutouts for the electrical and glue the slab in place to accommodate for these openingsHe had no boxes in place and asked my installers to cut holes in the areas he advised and leave wires through the holesThis is generally frowned upon to move outlets after the rough electrical inspection has been done but dealing with the inspectors is the responsibility of the homeowner and I agreed to do as he wished for the cutoutsThe fact that his electrician had a slightly challenging job installing these boxes is only because it was not done in the typical orderRegarding the scratches, etc the customer is concerned about for the kitchen, every time we came back to the job site to modify or complete his fireplace and other top, I personally saw tools, etc on the counters from other contractors and can only assume this is creating some scratches, etcI can take no responsibility for the durability of this specific material as I did say I had had historical problems with the quality of the material from this specific supplier in the past
The fireplace was installed next and I oversaw to ensure clips were installed correctly from a safety perspectiveMy installers did not have a ladder and therefore did not finish caulking the top and apparently left some residual glue on the perimeter of the fireplace which I, along with my installers, corrected at the time of the vanityIt is true that there was inadequate material for his vanity that he spoke of, I initially felt that because I did not purchase the material and misunderstood his questions on number of slabs needed that this was his responsibility to buy the adequate amount of slabsWhile I never like a customer to be left less than totally satisfied, I decided that he could select a remnant of material from my shop to useHe did choose nearly a full slab of a very expensive engineered stone, of the quality of engineered quartz I like to useThe use of this slab was agreed upon at no cost to him and was fabricated and installedI personally met with this customer on a weekend to hear his concerns and fix themWe have now completed the job and have installed all of the counters and cleaned any areas he was less than satisfied withThe stone looks amazing in his home and all work is completeHe does have a balance and after the additional items I did at no cost and specifically including a slab that I could have sold for $at no charge to him I do expect payment for the work completedHe has been extremely rude, to the point of putting my receptionist in tears, and I do not feel that, because he had so many complaints he should simply not be held responsible for the remainder of his balanceI feel I've upheld and gone above and beyond my end of the contract
To address his resolution idea, there is no work for any other stone sub to do as the job is complete and really does look beautifulThe only complaint that I cannot fix is his concerns regarding the material and scratchesI do have photos though of the counters being used as workbenches for other subs' tools and know that this maybe affecting the slabsTypically engineered quartz can handle this type of treatment but it appears that the low quality material he purchased from the subpar supplier is extremely fragileI do have copies of emails to this customer advising that we do not recommend this supplier as we have had customers unhappy with the quality of the material in the past and he disregarded our warningsIt's the epitome of "you get what you pay for" with that particular supplierTo my knowledge, they offer no warranties for defects, etclike all the other engineered quartz companiesI think this speaks volumes regarding the quality of that material and again this was discussed with the customer prior to him purchasing his slabs
Thank you
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/05/08) */

I specifically was looking for a company who was capable of offering superior attention to detail and workmanship for that I was willing to pay extra $3,of labor*** *** Stone promised that they had capability of delivering a superior workmanship for the extra $3,labor fees
I am most dissatisfied with their manners of conducts, they refuse to accept any responsibility, they damaged my Italian hardwood floor, didn't finish under the cabinet, left glue residual on my imported cabinets and their manner of dealing with consumer is bullying the clients, their office staff is a rude person who liesThey finished the job almost a month later than it was promised with awful workmanship I can see the cracks, chips, left over woods, for as long as I keep this kitchenI will NEVER, EVER, do business with this company at any price even if they offer their service for FREEIf your kitchen is important to you, if you have an expensive cabinet stay away from this company they can care less to detail, your home and you
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/05/13) */
I have attempted to contact this customer to discuss if there are any ongoing concernsWe were at the project last week completing any touch ups needed or desiredI have called several times but have not heard backI know that he was hoping for two cutting boards but there is insufficient material left that was used for his kitchenI would like to discuss with him either using the material that was used for the vanity for a cutting board or using a contrasting material but have been unable to reach himI have personally met with the customer to touch up any concerns he has with regard to workmanship and, if there are still concerns, I would be happy to set up another meeting to address

Yes I did receive a call from Mr*** at 8:this morning (May XX XXXX) from Mr*** was most upset about the review at one point he got very loud and said and I quote," I will ruin your business just wait and see, I know how and I will destroy your business you piece ***"Mr*** went on to continue to treat my company who he never did business vsme personally
It seemed Mr*** is less determined to correct his employees' poor workmanship but more determined to get even by destroy my business
I am not sure what is Revdex.com's policy regarding Mr***'s behaviorI find Mr*** a most disturbing business person
