Review: I would like to report this business for unethical practices and unacceptable customer service. II am a father of three small children. I work hard. This realty charged me a 1,400 fee only to scam me and not have an apartment ready for move-in by the agreed upon date. The realty approved me for an apartment with a move-in date of December *, 2014. I paid the realty fee on November [redacted], 2014 and signed the lease. It should have been a red flag that the copy of the lease they gave me had no other signatures on it but mine. On December [redacted], I am suddenly told that the landlord doesn't have the apartment ready after all.After empty apologies and trying to chalk everything up to the landlord, they ask for two more weeks. I say fine. December [redacted] comes around and I'm told the same story. It should have been a red flag when they tried to stall by not giving me the keys on the pretext that the repairmen won't be able to access the apartment if I have the keys. At that point, I told them that the wait is unacceptable and ask for my money back. The broker refunded my rent and security deposit but not the realty fee that I had paid in order for them to obtain me an apartment. I played phone tag with the brokers repeatedly. Finally I was able to get in touch with the [redacted], [redacted], who told me they are not responsible because they found me an apartment. This realty seems to have a very broad definition of what it means to find customers an apartment. Now they are dodging my calls and are impossible to reach.Desired Settlement: I would like Rapid Realty to refund me my 1,400 realty fee; I paid the realty fee so that this realty could obtain me a livable apartment by the move in date. What I got as a result was a scam.

Review: I made an appointment to see an apartment in Jamaica with one of Rapid Realty's licensed real estate agents. He told me his name is Johnny and did not disclose which company he was affiliated with. I thought the apartment was sufficient and filled out applications with the Johnny-- we even paid a $500 fee, in cash, to show that we were very interested. This was on Sunday, September [redacted]. I called the 'Johnny' several times and he does not pick up my phone calls. He did pick up a phone call when it was made from a different number so I know he is available. He said he would call me back. He has not returned any of my calls and I am getting worried.

I needed to move from my current apartment by October [redacted]. Now I am out $500 and do not know if I should wait to hear back from the broker. He has not given me a direct answer as to whether we are approved for the application or not. The only reason we put a deposit was because he said that he was sure we would get the apartment and did not see any reason why we would not be approved. He claimed the credit check went great and we had more than enough money on our bank statements. But apparently that is still not enough to receive an answer from the management company.

Did he even file our applications or just pocket the money? After a quick google search I found that 'Johnny' is actually Johnny C[redacted] from Rapid Realty and after checking on [redacted] I saw that he has had many other complaints filed against him.Desired Settlement: I would like my deposit refunded.
