I was in communication with not the person who made this complaint that's the reason why the check was made out to her roommate. Whatever situation they have amongst them that is there issue not mine. As far as splitting up the checks I said we usually don't split up checks because that isn't how our system is setup since it shows as a full deposit. I told her you can have your roommate split the check and give you your share. She was unsure if her roommate was going to give her back her share. I said ok let me consult with accounting to see if its ok to do this .And I also said we usually don't mail out checks since we need someone to sign off on the check. She made a big stink about commuting from 85th street. I could understand her other roommate which is in another state but we need someone to sign off on the refund check which shows proof that they received the refund check which I explained.
The issue has been resolved and she has gotten her check. Her roommates check was mailed out as well. Just remember someone needs to come in personally to sign off whether it be a family member or friend with the confirmation of the person who put down the deposit. I personally called her ex-roommates mother to explain the situation. This issue has been resolved.

Review: A good faith deposit of $625 was made for a prospective apartment rental. The application was denied but the deposit was not returned despite repeated requests . The deposit agreement clearly stated it would be returned if the application was denied, as it was.Desired Settlement: Return of the good faith deposit.

Review: A friend and I used Rapid Realty when first looking for apartments in Brooklyn. We applied for an apartment in the Flatbush Gardens complex and before our application was approved my roommate changed her mind about the place and we informed our Rapid Realty agent that we didn't want to go forward with the apartment. We applied for the apartment on Oct. **and stopped the application process on Oct. **. We were guaranteed a full refund for our deposit and have records of this being said. We each paid our portion of the deposit separately. After 3 months I was told by my friend that the checks were ready to be picked up, but I still had not been contacted by Rapid to inform me of this. When going to pick up my check, I arrived to find out the check was made out to the other girl in the full amount and they were planning to mail it to her without my approval or knowledge of it. They apologized and told me the check would be reissued, and split into two checks, and it would take between 2-7 days. This was on December **and I still have not received the check, nor has my friend. Since the end of December, both the agent we worked with and her broker have not been responding to any communication from various forms of contact (email, phone calls, and texts). I finally made the trip back to their office in South Williamsburg and was given no reason for why we haven't received the correctly issued refund checks or why they have not at least responded to our communication to let us know what was going on with the checks. I was given no timeline as to when the refund checks would be ready and the broker wasn't willing to give me confirmation that they have been reissued through their accounting department.Desired Settlement: Refunded the $1400 deposit owned to us from Rapid Realty from October, 2013.
