Rapidan Plumbing Reviews (11)

Just wanted to say how great our experience was with Rapidan Plumbing! We had a gas leak on our roof and the gas company couldn't set up service until it was fixed Shaun from Rapidan was here on time and got everthing fixed - he was pleasant, professional, and just all-around GREAT! Thanks, Rapidan Plumbing!!

I wanted to take the time to compliment Nathan and Chad from Rapidan Plumbing for outstanding service when we had no time to waste We made an emergency call when a plumbing backup occurred in the basementNathan and Chad were there shortly afterWhen video confirmed roots in the main drain lines, they handled everything efficiently to get the problem solved and back to normalThey went above & beyond what needed to be done to simply get the job doneI found Nathan and Chad to be exceedingly helpful, caring, and knowledgeable from start to finishThank you to Rapidan Plumbing for a job well done! Revdex.com: I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below “ [redacted] actually had no experience with Rapidan PlumbingAll businesss was conducted solely with [redacted] ***There was no [redacted] present at our visit to Mr***’s HomeNot really sure what part [redacted] feels she had with this business transaction.” [redacted] is my daughter whom was speaking with Rapidan Plumbing Inc.’s representative at my residence over the telephoneTherefore she did experience this business transaction and wrote this complaint on my behalf“Mr [redacted] was given different options for this workHe chose to have this work done at the above prices and gave us his written permission to proceed with this workHe could have just as easily chosen one of the less expensive options.”a I was never given any options for work to be doneI was informed that there were three things that needed to be completed in order for my hot water to be fixed Those things were replacing the pressure reducing valve, the expansion tank, and the vapor sensorI was given the impression that all of the above things needed replacing in order for my hot water to be restoredIf that was not the case, Rapidan’s representative did a poor job of conveying that information “Rapidan did not install a pressure release valveRapidan furnished and install a pressure reducing valve, which is much more expensive and takes far more time and effort to installIf the “other plumber” was basing his price on this information they were misinformed of the work that was performedI wonder .did this “other plumber” “cone” out and look at this work before coming up with his price?????” a Referring to a pressure reducing valve as a pressure release valve was simply a typo because I pointed out the PRV to the “other plumber”Thus, he knew which piece of equipment I was referring toThe “other plumber” was in my house working to restore hot water to my household when he informed me that the PRV wasn’t a necessityRapidan’s representative had previously told me that a PRV was needed because it likely caused the expansion tank to go badThe “other plumber” told me that expansion tanks usually go bad after 5-years anyway and that reducing the pressure coming into the house wasn’t necessary to restore my hot water“The technician determined that a pressure reducing valve was necessary based on conversation with Mr [redacted] and by checking the incoming water pressureThe technician showed Mr [redacted] the water pressure reading that was lbsincoming water pressure should not exceed lbsfor a properly performing plumbing system.” aI called Rapidan out to fix my hot water since I had been without it for two days prior to Rapidan showing up at my house and was without it for another two days after they leftI wasn’t calling to have routine maintenance done on my plumbing I just wanted hot water restored and was under the impression that any work suggested by Rapidan was a means to meet that endThe “other plumber” informed me that the water pressure being at psi wouldn’t prevent me from having hot water it would only potentially cause components to wear more quicklyI am now under the impression that if a pressure reducing valve was needed it would have been installed upon the house being built or when the tank was originally installed“The technician contacted the water heater manufacturer and informed them of the problem with the water heaterThe technician informed the manufacturer that the water heater had been flooded at least or more times in the past( this information was provided by Mr***) The manufacturer informed the Technician that since the water heater had been wet several times that the part would not be under any warrantyThe manufacturer also informed the technician that the original vapor sensor may work if dried out and tested but it was not likely and should be replaced.” aThis was another miscommunication between me and Rapidan’s representativeI told Rapidan’s representative that there had been water in the drip pan before but I never said that my water heater had been floodedI made my statements intending to inform Rapidan’s representative that there had been water in the drip pan before because I wasn’t sure if that was relevant information and wanted to inform Rapidan’s representative as well as possibleThe “other plumber” that ended up fixing my water heater had that part replaced under warranty and it turned out not to be the cause of my problem anywayThe actual cause of my water heater’s malfunction was due to a faulty igniter “As with most buying decisions prices vary from one provider to anotherI was in [redacted] yesterday and “say” a cooler for over $Right beside this $ cooler was a cooler about the same size for under $As I walked around the store I observed another cooler about the same size for under $ I make no apologies for my pricesYes, my prices are more than some other plumbers, although not as much as some other companiesI know my cost of doing business, I pay my people well with good benefits and make a modest profit I run a professional, honest business and it cost a lotAfter all everything is expensive in this day and timeOne thing I know to be true, if [redacted] were to look around more she could find someone much less costly than the “other plumber”I wonder .What makes the cheap price the right price??????” aI don’t know that “the cheap price is the right price” but I do know that my water heater is currently operating properly and (with the exception of the expansion tank) none of the work done by Rapidan contributed to thatIt has been brought to my attention that I could have purchased and installed an expansion tank with relative ease and that it doesn’t require a plumber’s expertise to test b However, I don’t dispute that my system needed a new expansion tank to run properlyI accept that fact and the charges that ensuedcI dispute the need for a Pressure Reducing Valve to be installed and the ensuing charges related to that particular jobI also dispute the need for a vapor sensor to be replaced at my expense due to the miscommunication between me and the technicianI feel as though Rapidan’s representative could have been more careful with his word choice in an effort to avoid this confusionAdditionally, if this misunderstanding hadn’t taken place that Rapidan could have had this part replaced under warranty like the “other plumber”In conclusion, I would like a refund for the charges related to installing of the pressure reducing valveThis would make my total desired refund $We are willing to pay for the diagnostics fee and the expansion tank instillationI feel that this refund is justified because Rapidan’s representative never communicated those as optionsRapidan’s technician informed me that all three of these things would need to be done in order to restore my hot waterAs it turns out, none of the above was actually the immediate cause of my loss of hot waterI feel as though installing the PRV was never going to restore my hot water but instead, prolong the life of my systemThis is not what I wanted from Rapidan’s representativeI wanted hot water returned to my household in a timely manner Thanks, [redacted] Regards,Steve & Casie ***

Revdex.com Case # [redacted] – Rapidan PlumbingResponse to complaint to Revdex.com from [redacted] ***.Thanks for for***ing this persons concerns to my attention I say person instead of customer since I do not know who [redacted] may beShe was not the person we conducted business with at this address and she was not present when the business was conducted, however .I will respond to each of her concerns in order “Just had a terrible experience with Rapidan Plumbing Inc.” [redacted] actually had no experience with Rapidan PlumbingAll business was conducted solely with [redacted] ***There was no [redacted] present at our visit to [redacted] ***s HomeNot really sure what part [redacted] feels she had in this business transaction.“Guy came out Tuesday Charged my Day $ ..The actual charges were as follows Replace vapor sensor on water heater - I too am years old and work every day and make all my own decisionsIs she saying her dad is not competent to make buying decisions?????? I honestly don’t understand this statement. Also, how could the technician or Rapidan know Mr [redacted] was a cancer survivor? Also, I would just like to wish Mr [redacted] all the best and hope he remains in good health.Either way I would steer clear of using this company unless you have vast knowledge of plumbing and its practices or “u” might end up paying 6x what a job actually costs .Previously [redacted] said Rapidan was twice the cost of her “other plumber”Now by the end of her letter, which by the way she and a [redacted] placed on [redacted] and the internet, Rapidan is xs higherYea the owner called after we complained and told us to call someone else to finish it cheaper but he was collecting the money for the work already completed ($1200)This is not how the conversation wentI returned Mr***’s price complaint call in a timely mannerI explained that we had the part on order and asked if he wanted us to complete the jobHe stated he wanted hot water but was not happy about our pricingI gave him the option to cancel the call for the remainder of the job and Rapidan would refund him his deposit for the work not yet completedHe informed me he could get it cheaper from his regular plumberI said I understood and suggested if he wanted it cheaper I would send him his deposit for the vapor sensor and cancel the jobIt was my understanding that this is what he wanted I apologize for any rudeness he perceived on my partIt was never my intention to come across as rudeI try to give each customer what they want. The cost for the services we had already completed was $Not sure where the $cost came from.Desired Settlement “I would like a refundHe charged us for items that did not need to be replaced .The technician determined that a pressure reducing valve was necessary based on conversation with Mr [redacted] and by checking the incoming water pressureThe technician showed Mr [redacted] the water pressure reading that was lbsincoming water pressure should not exceed lbsfor a properly performing plumbing system. The owner was extremely rude when we called to talk about what was going on ..This is not how the conversation wentI returned Mr***’s price complaint call in a timely mannerI explained that we had the part on order and asked if he wanted us to complete the jobHe stated he wanted hot water but was not happy about our pricingI gave him the option to cancel the call for the remainder of the job and Rapidan would refund him his deposit for the work not yet completedHe informed me he could get it cheaper from his regular plumberI said I understood and suggested if he wanted it cheaper I would send him his deposit for the vapor sensor and cancel the jobIt was my understanding that this is what he wanted I apologize for any rudeness he perceived on my partIt was never my intention to come across as rudeI try to give each customer what they want.$refund requestedThe customer paid us a total of $1150I feel our charge of $was more than fair [redacted] had options presented to him and this was the option he chose.I feel a refund of $is more than fairRapidan gave a seniors citizen discount of 10% off the workI also have shipping, handling and various Rapidan employee cost for locating, ordering and processing the vapor sensor which I am not charging for.I look forward to hearing back about this matter. Thanks and I look for [redacted] to hearing back from Mr [redacted]

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear belowI did tell both [redacted] and [redacted] that I was not happy and why at each step and all they said was sorry I have witnesses to these conversationsThe propane tank had 20% not lbs of propane which equates to gallons in my gallon tank The water heater is where it was designated by the builder Mitchell Homes and is in a spot that is commonly used by buildersI specifically asked for upfront fees and was not given the $diagnostic feeI may not have been home but my son-in-law was there in my place [redacted] admitted that he had to call Whirlpool to find out what was wrong That does not seem very knowledgeable to meI find this response from Rapidan Plumbing to be very offensive and rude I paid the bill but don't want other people being put in my situation because yes I would have had to pay them I fully expected to pay for a repair My disagreement is with the diagnostic fee that was not disclosed to me when I specifically asked about fees I do not feel I have victim mentality as he stated The Revdex.com is here to protect consumers and as a legitimate outlet for their concerns Regards, [redacted]

I AM EVER SO PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE REC'D LAST WEEK BY THIS COMPANY THE WORKERS ARRIVED ON TIME, DID AN EXCELLENT JOB ON CLEANING UP AFTER THEMSELVES, WERE COURTEOUS AND PLEASANT AT ALL TIMES, AND WERE IN A NUTSHELL, VERY PROFESSIONAL IN A FRIENDLY AND KIND WAY THE JOB WAS COMPLETED ON TIME AND THE RE-SEEDING OF OUR YARD WAS DONE NEATLY AND TIMELY MY HUSBAND IS VERY PICKY AND HE WAS VERY IMPRESSED I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY - ALSO, IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE WORKERS STATED THAT IT WAS A GREAT COMPANY TO WORK FOR, WHICH IN THIS DAY AND AGE IS NOT OFTEN HEARD AND WAS REFLECTED IN THE MANNER IN WHICH THE EMPLOYEES HANDLED THEMSELVES

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below There are a few reasons I reject this offer The main reason is that there is no offer My issue was that the technician got my wife to sign paperwork without explaining what was being done, he was vague and intentionally misleading He already reset the pump at that point and I think it was working when he got her to sign the paperwork saying he wanted dollars to troubleshoot the pump system I believe he was price gouging because he could not provide any itemized breakdown of services rendered aThe contract shows that the customer agreed in writing to have Rapidan troubleshoot/inspect the sewage pump system for' $ Verbally, the tech told my wife it was probably a bad pump He then handed her a contract and she signed it in good faith assuming the words he spoke were represented on the paper In addition, since Rapidan likes to rely on the legality of the contract I would submit that the definition of troubleshoot is to "trace and correct faultsThe technician did not correct any fault so he did not even complete this portion of the contract gDuring the troubleshooting process the Rapidan Technician discovered a wire in the control box that was corroded and had broke off at the connectorThe tech repaired the wireOnce the wire was reconnected the system startedThe Tech then continued to troubleshoot the remainder of the system and determined that the system worked at this point My complaint was that Rapidan did not fix anything They even state that once the wire was reconnected the system started working! How does a wire that is untouched and protected in a box break off!? They hid the problem, which was a bad pump, by unplugging and plugging in the pump which caused it to reset Also, if the tech checked the rest of the system he would have seen that the alarm was broken (I discovered later) and that the pump failed to turn on once it shut off again Another example of work said completed that was not jI certainly respect [redacted] opinion about pricing, however, my Tech talked with [redacted] by phone before doing the troubleshooting and [redacted] ok"d the $troubleshooting fee Not trueI did not authorize anything I did not talk to the technician on the phone at any time authorizing any amount of money As a matter of fact when my wife told me the cost, I asked her to put the technician on the phone When she went outside he said it was not a bad pump, and that he fixed it Since he told her the pump was probably bad and would cost dollars I assumed the cost would be lower and ended the call [redacted] This is the e-mail Rapidan Received from the customereParagraph 2- He states that he has an issue with the Rapidan Tech stating that the control box should be waterproof typeHe then states that it wasn't waterproof and should be??? This entire exchange perfectly illustrates my point Rapidan could provide me with no actual work performed, and I was forced to make educated guesses No one ever told me exactly what work was performed except the term "Wire tips" and "fixed a connector"As for the statement about waterproofing, why state that the box is not waterproof, then fix an electrical wire inside the box that would get wet? At this point the Rapidan Tech did not at any time say the pump was defective, only that the customer may want to consider replacing it due to it's age and condition Untrue The technician did say it was probably defective The irony of course is that the company states here that the technician at no time actually identified the correct problem The other point here is that they also state in the letter that at no point did they pull or look at the pump Per their response"Paragraph 3-states that we pulled the pumpWe never pulled the pumpThere was no need to pull the pump." Rapidan could not have known the age, condition, or even existence of the pump through feet of sewage I consider this point an outright LIE The only communications received from [redacted] were one phone call and one e-mail [redacted] Copied from my phone bill The first call is telling me the tech is on the way The second is me calling to inquire about the price The third is a call back from the technician The fourth one is me calling back after the technician hung up on me The 5th one is the secretary who answered when I called back informing me she left a voice mail with the manager and that the manager would call me back I also called from a work phone and left another message the next day which I have no ability to get a record for This does not include the call from my wife while the technician was standing at the box This point is also a flat out lie In closing, I dispute every point made While they say they fulfilled their end of the contract, they legally did not Contracts agreed to using misrepresentation are also not enforceable, and the company certainly did that by verbally stating and writing different things Regards, [redacted]

Caleb was very personable and professional

I called Rapidan Plumbing in Fredricksburg Va to help with a year old bath tub faucetThe plumber was extremely courteous, listened to the problem (as well as several other plumbing problems) and gave me written options and estimatesHe didn't try to sell me on the most expensive optionHe told me what would work as an option and proceeded to order the parts while I waitedHe also was nice enough to fix a problem with a wobbly toilet - that could have cost me over $ - in about minutes because he knew I didn't need to have the toilet pulled out of the floor and re-installedThis is a nice guy who was respectful of my home and very nice to my year old mom who is visitingI will ask for him by name the next time I call Rapidan Plumbing!
