Sir or Ma'am,
We are writing in response to the complaint launched by Mr. [redacted] of an over charge of $5.00 seen on his credit card which was reverted back to him. Our response to each of his claim is as below
1. The guest did his own total and his handwriting was not...

clearly legible. The total could easily be misread as $104.75 and $199.75. Since our servers are trained to close a check on the total reflected on a signed copy she closed it on $104.74 as considering the tipping ratio towards the subtotal it looked like the most sensible total. Copy of the signed check is attached to show the reason of possible confusion.2. The manager intervened prior to the whole check miscommunication when the guest changed their decision on a dish they had ordered and wanted to order something else. She did not intervene during the final payment or during closing of the check.
3. As soon as we were notified of the over charge we refunded the amount back to the guest. The guest, further questions the number of times this has happened in the past to which we do need to specify that this has been an extremely rare case. We haven't yet have had a situation where a guest has repeatedly changed his decisions on what he/she has ordered, miscalculated the total of the tip he/she desires to give, called to notify the same, received immediate complaint attention and refund and still wrote a negative review defaming a renowned establishment on a public media site. We have always given customer service our top priority and any inconvenience to the guests in anyway has been given immediate attention and solved without further ado.
Furthermore, when we emailed the guest the signed receipt his own reaction was that it looks like $199.75 in return questioning us as to why it was not closed at that amount then. It felt as if the guest was may be hinting that we should have closed it to the higher amount thereby taking a 100% plus tip. Our email exchanges with the guest are attached here for review.
We are a well reputed establishment and pride ourselves in maintaining the standards we have set for ourselves. Any inconvenience to the guest in the past has been duly noted and corrective actions have always been taken.We have attached all supporting documents for the above claims.
