I am reaching out to see what actions I can take in regards of buying a truck that has had over 15k spent trying to fix it and a shop that misdiagnosed issues. I bought a used 2006 dodge ram 2500 mega cab with a diesel engine from *** out of Troy Mo in October of 2018. Since then it has been in the shop 5 times now. 1st time was Tuesday after I bought the truck because a fuel high pressure senor went out. That was fixed no charge to me by Ratholland automotive the place that does work for Mountain Top Motors.

On April 9th of 2019 I took my truck back to Ratholland this time because of an oil leak which was determined to be a rear main seal and the transmission was not shifting right. The shop said the transmission was bad and needed replaced. I agree to fix both the transmission and rear main seal. Total was almost 6k dollars.

On July 1 of this year I took my truck a back Ratholland automotive in Wright City for fuel in the the oil to the point it is coming out the breather in the valve cover and spraying all over the underside of the truck. It still started ran no smoking out of the tail pipe. Only notice when you let it idle the oil pressure gauge will drop. Hit the gas pressure comes back. This is because the oil is washed out with fuel. This points to a leak in the high pressure fuel system. They said it had bad piston and rings. Thus needs a new motor. I even questioned it but they are supposed to be the experts not me. Well took 3 weeks to get my truck back. The bill for the replacement of the motor was $9,799.42 Rental fee of over 1k for the time the truck was suppose to be getting fixed. The night I get the truck back 7-25 the breaks go almost to the floor before they engaged. Picked the truck up at shop closing because I work so I could not take it back to get it fixed. Lucky a friend was with me and had a break bleeder kit at his house. They did not get the air out of the lines. We did, breaks work fine again. They never cleaned off the oil from under the truck so no way to tell if there is still a leak or new oil is coming out. I had to clean it off myself.

A week later (Friday 8-2-2019) we are getting ready to leave for vacation wanted to check the fluids and notice new fluid leaking. This time I now find oil and transmission fluid. There was no transmission fluid before. The transmission was replaced 3 months ago by the same shop. I went to put on the emergency brake to check the transmission fluid and it is not even hooked up. Oil is overfull and I smell fuel in it. I call the shop and then drive it back up to get it looked at. They tell me they just overfilled the oil. I ask about the fuel smell in it. They said no fuel in the oil. Asked about the transmission fluid. Well they said to keep an eye on it and bring it back after we get back from vacation so they have more time to look at it. During this process they say they need to replace the breather filter because with to much oil it is now ruined. Okay well the part they get does not fit. Reason is the internal breather filter is no longer made you have to use an external one. I asked shouldn't that have been done when you replaced the motor being oil was coming out there before. Got the look like fk you caught me. Well the kit to switch it had to be order and was to be installed once I took it back after vacation.

4 hours later emergency brake is hooked back up. Oil level is drained down. No idea as to why transmission fluid is leaking. Just told to keep an eye on it. We leave for vacation. Every fill up checking fluids. Oil keeps increasing because there is fuel still getting in the oil. Transmission seems to be staying or dropping so slow it is hard to tell. On the way home 8-10-2019 truck start dropping oil pressure at idle same issue that I originally took it on for. Truck is recover in oil and fuel on the underside. I call them tell them to order another motor since this new motor must be junk too being same thing is happening. That or they never fix the issue and misdiagnose problem. They did not want me to drive it more and came picked it up 8-7-2019. Only issue is now I do not have a vehicle and we were suppose to be going camping on the weekend. The shop did not give me a loaner or rental even though I asked because the truck was never fixed.

On 8-14 I get a call saying they had the injectors tested and 3 of the 6 are bad. They tell me that they had the injectors tested before they put them in the new motor. I was then told they replaced all the injectors on the same truck last June 2018 for *** and the injectors should be under warranty. Not all are under warranty, only one is because they tell me out the the 6 that they replaced before only 4 match the numbers of what they installed and 4 are not the same as what they installed in June of 2018. I have to pay for one of the injectors that is not the same as what they installed. Either Ratholland or the place they sent them to be test got them mixed up or between June of last year when Ratholland installed the injectors and I bought the truck from *** they changed 4 of them out. Still without a truck and they have yet to figure out why transmission fluid is leaking.

Is there any action I can take against either the place I bought my truck or the shop that can charge me for a motor that was not the issue?

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: After filing this complaint the business is now refusing to fix my truck. I had to take it to another shop and pay a towing fee to get it to another shop. They are saying there is no leaks the below video will show the leakes and dents. Along with a screen shot of the error codes being thrown.

To whom it may concern,

Hi, we have received the rejection from ***. On September 2nd, 2019 we towed the vehicle to our facility to diagnosis his complaints. This was done at no charge to the customer. The mechanics looked at the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 *** and determined that the oil leak he mentioned was from the injection pump. The ASE certified mechanics did inspect the transmission, as well as, the engine and determined that both were in good condition and had no leaks. This work was also done at no charge to the customer. At that point, we reached out to *** and informed him of our diagnosis. We did not refuse to repair any work that we had under warranty. Although, Ratholland did tell *** that we did not want to complete any further repairs to the vehicle because we did not feel like we could meet his expectations with the dissatisfaction that he already had. We did tell *** that there were over twenty facilities within a twenty-mile radius of his home Jasper qualified that could inspect and repair the vehicle. His dodge ram was capable of being driven, and did not require a tow to the next shop. This was done per *** request and was not necessary. If you have any further questions, or need more information please reach out to our office. The phone number is ***. Thank you and we apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused to all parties involved.

Sincerely,

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: My truck was originally taken into this shop due to oil leaking and fuel in the oil. They replaced rear main seal on the old motor. Still had leaks. They replaced the engine still had the same issue. Had to take it back they tell me the injectors where bad. They charged me and I got the truck back. Still have oil leaks and I gained transmission leaks. The last time they picked the truck up it had the check engine light on. Attached was the 2 error codes one for injector. How can that be, if they fixed the bad injectors or so they say. The truck could not be drove because it was not running right b/c there was an issue with an injector that they fixed. Over $15K spent with this shop and still not fixed. Oil still leaks to which they add yet another new thing that needs to be replaced but they will now no longer work on the truck since I have filed both this complaint and one with the state attorney generals office. My truck had to be towed to a new because the check engine light and still has fuel in the oil. Let's not forget the 1st time I picked up my truck after the motor was replaced it had air in the breaks that I personally had to bleed out so the truck was safe to drive correctly. I also had to recharge the AC do to being low on coolant which was fine before the shop replaced the motor. Where the oil currently coming from looks to be the rear main seal which on the old motor the shop charged me for replacing. List of time they have tried to fix oil leaks attempt one rear main seal on old motor, attempt 2 replace motor, attempt 3 replace injector, attempt 4 they refuse any more work and claim it is an injector pump. They also replaced the transmission and was not leaking until the motor was replaced. They claim no transmission leaks but the pictures and videos shows different. Now my truck is at another show due to this shop refusing to fix. Over 15K spent not including the 2k in rental fees for the amount of time this shop had the truck and it is still not fixed. No I do not accept the response from this shop.

This video not only shows the oil leaks and transmission leaks it also show the damage they did to the new oil pan installing the new motor: ***

Sincerely
