Review: I called Ratliff Drilling to set up an appointment for someone to come give me an estimate . I needed a well pump, water line going from the well to the house and a tank to store the well water in. When I asked for an appointment he said he would just go ahead and give us the price on the phone. He gave me two prices. The first price was for a system which included a 3/4 horsepower pump. The second price was for a system that had a 1 horsepower motor on the pump. The 3/4 horsepower price was $2785.80. The 1 horsepower price was $2905.80. The other well companies I had talked to said that I needed a 1 horsepower pump. Mr Ratliff said that a 1 horsepower pump would be too much and convinced me to go with the 3/4 horsepower pump. The only price upgrades that were discussed was a $400.00 upgrade to a 80 gallon tank, instead of the 20 gallon tank that was included in the quoted price. The day after the job was completed someone from the Ratliff office called to get my credit card payment over the phone. Before I found out the total price for the job I had them to go over the itemized list because there had been no contract or anything written pertaining to any of the charges. The amount they claim that I owe is $4040.00 . On top of this I found out that he used the 1 horsepower pump which was more expensive than the one we agreed to buy. When Mr Ratliff quoted me the price over the phone he did not mention anything about the price being flexible. as the job was being done no one mentioned any price increases. I had no idea that the final price would be any more than what was agreed on over the phone. All of this may have been avoided if Mr Ratliff had looked at the job in person.Desired Settlement: I agreed to buy a system with a 3/4 horsepower pump and an upgrade to a 80 gallon tank. The quoted price was $2785.80. The tank upgrade was $400.00, which is the difference in the cost of the 80 gallon tank and the 20 gallon tank which was included in the original quote. As I was talking to Mr Ratliff about these disputed charges the tank upgrade price went from $400.00 to $436.00. I will pay $2785.80 + $436.00 which comes to $3221.80.
