Twenty years ago my wife and I relocated to Scottsdale from the midwest. We purchased a home in the initial construction phases in North East Scottsdale and had the opportunity to modify it to our tastes. As dog owners, part of that effort, was to snake proof our backyard. In the twenty years hence, we’d never seen a snake of any variety in our backyard until around 11 PM last night when my wife encountered a rattlesnake, roughly 4 feet length in front of the patio door leading to our back patio. I don’t like snakes and frankly am scared to death of them. I thought what the heck can I do about it at this time of night? When we first moved to town I recall that local fire departments would respond to snake calls but I recall they quite doing that many years ago. Not wanting the snake to get away and hide somewhere where it could later menace our dog or one of us - I got on the internet and found “Rattlesnake Solutions”. They advertise 24 X 7 snake removal. I called their number and my call was almost immediately answered. The gentleman who answered said he could be at our house in about 20 to 30 minutes. In less than that time a young man arrived equipped with a miner’s light, a pole and bucket. He retrieved the agitated snake and put it in a bucket. He then checked out our yard to see if he could identify a source of entry. He felt overall we had done a good job snake proofing the yard but found one possible spot and suggested a remedy. The young man was extraordinarily pleasant and obviously proficient. I felt the cost, which less than most vendor service calls, was extremely reasonable considering the time time of day and service rendered.
