Untrustworthy
At first Ray was all full of ideas and advice on what it would take to have my just purchased house, in which he was the Gardner of the past owners, in "shape." So We unfortunately trusted him. It wasn't long before he was asking for money up front to do this and that. I didn't ask for receipts for materials, big mistake! prices were going up and up taking advantage of our good nature and trust. More and more money up front fro jobs that we not completed, always asking for gas money, always giving excuses to why he couldn't finish the job(s), "need more money" he would say. Constantly calling him to return and finish this and that! The last straw came when he was paid labor to build my fence, which he said "no problem." Ray came over a total of 4 days within 3 weeks! Finally we had enough after constantly calling him to finish! I called him and had to threaten him with arrest for fraud and deceptive business practices to come over and all he did was dig 27 post holes and left once again without finishing. We never want to see him again! We have written off our loses as a god sent. He is a horrible person. He has openly lied to us and absconded with our money. He has done this with a friend of ours as she has told us of first hand. Cheated her out money and never returned to finish the job.

*** *** has still not completed the job. On 5/he came in the morning and once again left without completing the job. He said he would come back the morning of 5/to complete the work. He did not show for the 8th time *** *** called *** *** and spoke to him and asked why he did not show*** *** said that there had been a tornado the day before in Charles City and offered no other explanation. We live in the West End of Henrico and were not affected by the tornado so this response made no sense to us. Since then he has never contacted us about completing the job. He has received $2,for a job he did not complete. He never put down the plastic in the mulch beds he created and he is very aware that this has been our issue all along. I do not understand what he is saying about having the grass cut in those areas. If he had put the plastic down as he was repeatedly asked to do (and he agreed to do when accepting the job and the money) then grass would not be growing up in the mulch beds. I can provide photos and proof that he started putting plastic down in a small area and then stopped and just covered the grass with mulch.

I was able to speak with *** *** from the company and he stated that the plastic is put down and the reason the grass and weeds keep getting into the flower beds is because of cutting the grass

*** from the business contacted Revdex.com and stated that for $the leaves were put in the ditch for the customer to have the county pick them up for himThe customer would have been charged $to haul away as well and the customer did not want to pay that

Revdex.com spoke with *** *** and I asked about what else needs to be finished, she said that nothing else needs to be finished and that *** *** finished all of the workThe work that the consumer is stating that is still not done is the grass in the flower bed; that was not apart of *** ***' job and the person that cuts the grass would need to do that*** *** stated that the consumer contacted them about another flower bed and they told the consumer that they would not do anymore work at their home*** *** stated that the consumer has told *** *** to stay off the property and they will not go back to do anymore work

Revdex.com spoke with [redacted] from the business and she stated that when [redacted] went back to finish the job, the consumer had put all his equipment out of the yard and told him not to come back and her husband would finish the work. She stated that the husband of the consumer called and apologized...

to [redacted] to ask about him coming back to finish the job and [redacted] told him that he was told not to come back and the consumer's husband apologized and asked him to come back and finish the job. [redacted] did go back and has since completed the job.

Ray came from another nearby home to tell me that he has experience with my neighbors, and had excess mulch in his trailer, so I agreed to let him put mulch down.
He spread the mulch out, thinly, and then stated that he had to go to the yard to buy more mulch; asking me to pay extra for the mulch he needed to finish the job.
I felt decieved. THen I called the neighbors... and found out that he had done the same thing to all of them. They paid extra, and were afraid of a dispute.... so he got all of us to pay extra, after a fixed price offer, and no one said a thing until he got 4 of us with the same manipulative "deception"..... a good price turned into an expensive job with marginal quality.

The information is not accurate in the response.  We never touched any of the equipment that they left behind.  They came the next morning and picked up the equipment and did not complete the work. He was asked numerous times to come finish the job; he set up appointments to do so and failed to show up.  He said that he was coming this morning to complete the job at 9am.  He did come but again did not complete the work.  My husband called him and once again he said
he will come tomorrow to finish it.  This process is incredibly frustrating and Mr. Harris is very unreliable and performs subpar work.

Review: On Jan 16, 2015 I paid [redacted] of Harris Landscaping $100.00 to clean the leaves from my lawn. He piled the leaves in my ditch and the next day he wanted more money to haul the leaves away. After I told him I would not pay extra for work he had already agreed to complete he said he would remove the leaves the following Monday. On Monday he said he would remove the leaves on Tuesday, on Tuesday he said he would remove the leaves the following Saturday. As of this writing he has not returned or completed the work.

[redacted] from the business contacted Revdex.com and stated that for $100 the leaves were put in the ditch for the customer to have the county pick them up for him. The customer would have been charged $200 to haul away as well and the customer did not want to pay that.

I talked with [redacted] yesterday Feb. 5, 2015 and she was very unresponsive telling me what a bad neighbor I was for filing a complaint with the Revdex.com and what a fine business they had and they never haul away leaves for free. Well I stand by my original complaint [redacted] told me various times he would not leave the leaves in the ditch and he would finish the job which he has failed to do. [redacted] tried pull this same stunt in Aug of 2013 when I hired him to trim some of my trees he agreed on a price for the job then before the job is done he wants more money. At that time I told him I would not pay him till the job was done. I made the mistake of trusting him this time, I'm $100 smarter now and I hope the Revdex.com can help educate others to the poor operating practices of these people

Review: [redacted] provided a quote for a landscaping project on April 24th. We agreed upon the work to be done and the price. He was paid in full but has not completed the work. We have asked him to come finish the job on multiple occasions, he agrees that he will but then never shows up. We have repeatedly asked that he contact us if he is not going to show up and he does not. I called him on Friday May 16th and gave him 2 days to complete the job. He agreed but he has still not done it. He did subpar work, did not complete the project, and he has not returned any money for the work he did not do. There have been a variety of reasons he says he can't come finish it from family members being in the hospital to his transmission on his truck. We would like a refund on the work he did not do. On the day he was supposed to finish (Friday 4/25) there was a storm so he left quickly before the job was done and we have been waiting since then for him to complete the work. He did not complete the lattice work around the bottom of the shed and he failed to put plastic under several large mulch beds as we agreed to. He agreed in previous conversations that he has not finished the work he was paid for.Desired Settlement: We paid him $2,000 for the job. We want $500 back for the work he has not yet done.
