RAYCO AUTO REPAIR Reviews (3)

Review: My auto stalled on the evening of January 19th in [redacted] NJ and was towed (by [redacted] to Rayco in [redacted] NJ. On the morning of January 20th (approx. 8:00AM) I dropped of my car key and explained to the ‘owner’ what had happened. He stated that” cars needed fuel and air to run”, and he will look at my car and said there will be a $95 diagnosis charge to determine the cause and he would contact me after their evaluation. At 9:50AM I received a call from the shop stating I needed a new fuel pump, he said he can get me a [redacted] part at a very good price ($350) and total coast will be approx. $460. I stated if it needed the new pump then do the repair. When I contacted the shop at 4:00 PM (I never received a call back that it was completed) I was told the car was ready and the total cost would be $636. They closed at 5:00 PM, and said I will pick up the car the morning of January 21st. When I arrived I asked for old fuel pump and I was taken into the shop, I saw the pump on the ground and placed it in the trunk of my car. When I got back to the front counter the ‘owner’ said the car is ready, but he said I should keep an eye on the gas gauge. I asked why, he said it may fluctuate but to fill the tank and make sure it is working properly.

I left the Rayco and filled my tank with fuel and proceeded to monitor the gauge. As I driving to and from work (approx. 80 miles round trip) and passed 200 miles on my odometer I saw the gauge was not working properly. I filled the tank again and noticed the same issue.

I took the original fuel pump to the local Nissan dealership (Nissan World in [redacted] NJ) to one of the repairmen. He tested the pump and it was working properly he stated when they removed the original pump they SHOULD HAVE noticed that there was no fuel in the tank. Their first act should have been to add fuel and then test the pump back in the car. I am receiving an estimated work order from the mechanic that states the information just described and that the original pump was not the problem.Desired Settlement: A full refund from Rayco for the entire amount of $636.65. After I was told that the fuel pump would correct the problem, I found out the fuel pump was working correctly and that the gauge was not working properly. Today I still have the same problem when I brought in my vehicle for service.

Response:

On 1-20—14a 2003 Maxima with 206,334 miles was towed in.

The vehicle was towed in for the condition “won’t stay running."

The diagnosis was that it needs a fuel pump. The job was authorized by [redacted]

When road testing the vehicle (that stayed running) it was noticed that the fuel gauge fluctuated. This

problem was addressed to [redacted] and he did not want to check this issue out at this time.

[redacted] paid his bill and drove away. Please see a copy of the authorized repair and the note saying

it may have a problem with the level sensor.

We did our job getting it to stay running. We have been in business over 50 years and strive to keep

every customer satisfied. '

To keep the peace we will correct whatever fuel level problem he is experiencing PRO. BONO.

We strive for 100% customer satisfaction

He is more than welcome to make an appointment to drop it off and we will expedite the repair within

2-3 days at NO out of pocket expense to [redacted].

Thank you,

Review: On June 21, 2013 I called Rayco about repairing my car. It appeared to have the same issue it had 3 months prior when they supposedly fixed it. After being quoted different prices, by the owner and the son and consulting with other mechanics, I didn't feel comfortable with them working on my vehicle. I told them I did not want them to repair the vehicle and that I would pick it up. When I went to pick it up, the vehicle would not start and made a noise I had not heard before. When it was taken to Rayco on 6/21 it started with no problem. The repairs needed had nothing to do with the starter. The car was drive able. After taking my car to another mechanic, upon lifting the hood, the mechanic saw my engine cover was gone, the coils were dismantled and screws and other parts were scattered throughout, under the hood. This explains why my car would not start. The new mechanic repaired the vehicle for $1,100 less than what I was quoted by Rayco. However, Rayco still has my engine cover.Desired Settlement: I want my engine cover back

Review: Hello, I have a few issues with Rayco I Eatontown, NJMy first issue is when I was first getting the work done I was told a full diagnosis would be done before a catalytic converter was involved to ensure that the putting and choking of my car would stopThe next day I called [redacted] the owner and he said my car was still running poorly after the converter was installed and that I would have to come up with more money for another diagnosisI was upset that I was already spending $dollars and the problem was still not resolvedI told him I was not paying any more moneyHe told me "he'd take a second look"He called back and said my car was running beautifully and to come pick up! So I did, and less then a mile down the road the same problem reoccurredI called the next day bright and early to find out the owner had took off to Brazil for two weeksI began looking for second opinions from another mechanicI found another mechanic who explained the putting and choking problem thoroughlyI was putting the catalytic converter in the past, until my new mechanic said the converter they sold me was defectiveI called Rayco immediately and was yelled at by an employee and then hung up onI am pregnant and can not handle the stress of being mistreated and abusedAt this point I want my money back because I am terrified to deal with these mechanicsThe owner said that the converter came with a two year warranty, and he is not honoring the warranty, instead I was told that there was no way there products are defective.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of ($846.00) so I may use my new mechanic to install a catalytic converterI gave them a chance to replace the converter but instead I was disrespectedI have lost trust and faith in this business and do not feel safe with then handling my car

I am rejecting this response because:
The day after the alleged car repairs were made, I called the shop I was told that all car parts were new and it could not be defectiveI took my car to another mechanic who told me my catalytic converter was still no goodI received a statement from that mechanic proving my claim less than weeks after receiving a "new" catalytic converter from Rayco
I do has evidence proving my claim and would be more than happy to send that over to anyone who requires itI was never told to bring my car back or offered a ride home after I started complaining regarding repairsI need my catalytic converter fixed by a trustworthy business and do not appreciate being lied to time and time againI have PROOF that my car either was not fixed or was fixed wrong and want a refund
