Raymond Froy, CPA Reviews (1)

Review: I had received a bill from Froy's office four times since January, each time I called to ask what the bill was for and each time I was told someone would call me back. The fourth time I called I was the secretary answered the phone and was very rude, telling me that she had told me several times it was for a fax they sent on my behalf. As I questioned her about this she became more rude and continually cut me off from talking and threatened to hang up on me. She stated the $80 charge was for sending "multiple faxes I had called several times and asked for". I told her I had only called and asked them to send one fax for me which was my business taxes for 2013 to my mortgage lender, I had also called and asked them to email me the taxes. The CPA nicely emailed me my personal taxes but not my business, therefore I called and asked him to email those as well. I was told they would need me to sign a release, they faxed the release to me, I faxed it back and they faxed it to my lender. The transaction was completed without ever being told there would be a charge for this. Therefore when I received the $80 bill I was confused. After the secretary became extremely rude I became rude back, she hung up on me. Raymond Froy called me back a couple minutes later, he started out the conversation as the most rude and unprofessional person I have ever had contact with. He told me if I "was too cheap to pay $80 for his time he did not want me as a client" he also told me he expected payment within 7 days or he would report me to collections. He again like the secretary would not allow me to talk to explain my side of the story. The conversation ended by Mr. Froy calling me a [redacted] repeatedly before I hung up.Desired Settlement: I do not think this behavior is acceptable as a business owner, I own a business and would never talk to my clients half as rudely as this man did to me. I called my current accountant in tears and couldn't regain my composure for several hours after the call. I served 6 years in the military and was never talked to this way. I do not think I should be charged $80 for this firm to send 2 faxes. I could have easily had someone fax them for free had I known there was a fee.

Response:

I am writing concerning the complaint filed by [redacted] and [redacted] withThe Revdex.com. I was Mrs. [redacted]'s accountant at Raymond A. Froy, Jr.,CPA, P.C, and, at all times I was professional, ethical, and efficient when working withMrs. [redacted] and her company. The bill at question was for work I did over a period starting August 4, 2014 and endingNovember 12, 2014. Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] were in the process of buying a new homewhen I was contacted to help her with the process. On August 4, 2014 I was first askedby Mrs. [redacted] to pull a copy of her personal income tax return and fax it to a realtor thatshe has sent me in an email. I made a copy of the file, a copy of a release required by theIRS, and submitted the copy of the tax return to the realtor. I had the same request againNovember 3, 2014 and again I complied with Mrs. [redacted]s request and sent the copy ofthe tax return to another realtor. On November 4, 2014 I received an email to please dothe same tor [redacted] which is Mrs. [redacted]'s business. Again I compliedwith Mrs. [redacted]s request and completed the documents required and emailed thecorporate income tax return. Mrs. [redacted] called me on November 6, 2014 indicating tome that she need some type of confirmation that her corporation actually existed. I toldher I would pull a document from the West VA Secretary of State that identifies hercorporation is being in existence. I mailed this to Mrs. [redacted] on Monday November 10,2014. Mrs. [redacted] called the office on that same day and told a receptionist that sheneeded a letter from me stating that her business, [redacted], was owned byher. When I returned to the office I prepared the letter and faxed it to the number left withthe receptionist. On November 14, 2014 I was asked to send the letter stating she ownedthe business once more. I complied with Mrs. [redacted]s request and did not here from heruntil we received the complaint from The Revdex.com.As with most professions, including Mrs. [redacted]s, this firm as accountants bill by thehour. It is imperative that Mr, Froy charge his customers for our work and to collect theamount due not only to pay us but to stay in business. The total time I spent on Mrs.[redacted]s account was 2 (Two) hours. If Mrs. [redacted] were billed all of that time herinvoice would have been in excess of $200.00. Mrs. [redacted] was only billed $80.00. Mr.and Mrs. [redacted] were given copies of their tax returns when they were prepared. Theycould have made copies of those, but instead they chose to in essence hire us to do thework for them.As I close to answer the complaint we did nothing that can even be construed wrong orthat warrants a complaint. Mrs. [redacted] was billed for services that she requested us toperform knowing full and well she would have to pay for them.[redacted]Staff AccountantRaymond A. Froy, Jr., CPA, PC
