Raymond & Son Concrete Finishing Reviews (%countItem)

Contracted with Mr. R to replace my front steps and walk with stamped concrete in the color brown. I provided a sample brick in the appropriate color to match my existing brick work. The steps and walk came out gray as he used an insufficient amount of colorant. The container and supplier both state 2 containers of color to one yard of concrete. Mr. R used a total of 2 containers of color for 4 yards of concrete. Additionally, the stamping is poorly done. The brick pattern zigzags all over the place and does not line up as most brick work does. He came to me highly recommended but has taken his money and is unwilling to take any steps to correct the problems. It has been recommended to me to get my money back from Mr. R and hire someone that can do the job well. It has been three months since the work was done and I am still trying to remove the splattered concrete from the front of my home!

Desired Outcome

Refund My preference would be to have the poorly done steps and walk removed and replaced with one that would be properly colored and stamped. If Mr. Ra*** is unwilling or unable to do that, I request a full refund of $3600. and I will find someone to do the job correctly.

Raymond & Son Concrete Finishing Response

Hello I,m not the owner of raymond & sons any more my ex is but I do know what is going on , I have I color chart that is given to every one who wants a stamped concrete what ever they are looking for and they hold on to the chart until we do there job and on the top of the chart you will see that it states the the colors may not exactly represent the final color, and when we are done we seal the stamp that brings the color out. the woman at this job did not like the color when finished but did not let us seal the stamp when we where done. we went back to stamp crete where we buy the color told them that she was not happy with it but had been happy with our work and we tried to get stamp crete to see what they could do for her,but if she would of let us seal the work she may have like it, but we tried to get her some help from the company that sells it. we told if there where any thing else we could for her to call us, which we have not heard from until this letter from you, we could take it out and repair it but at cost we do not make the color we follow the same chart for color as she or ant other person or company who dose stamp.we have done everything in our power to do what we can to help her to get what she wants and she never called us back for any more help. again the have the color chart from when we look at the till we do the job they must rad the top of the chart and is told the color may not come the same as the chart Thank You Carol R Owner

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Mr. R is the registered owner of the business according to State of NH. I am sending a copy of their record in a separate email.I was never provided a color chart. On two different occasions, I was shown color charts then told they were obsolete.Mr. R merely provided the name and phone # of a contact at Stampcrete and I have been working with their Mr. to find a product to try to color the concrete. He has done nothing else to help me.He is in error in saying I have not contacted him. We have spoken and I informed him that I was working to obtain a color solution and would be in touch when the cost was determined as I expected that he would bear that cost. He informed that he had no intention of paying for anything and all he was going to do was to seal the job after I had it stained.I have never told him that I was happy with his work and I am definitely not happy. I have seen other work he has done and it makes what he did for me look as though it was the first time he ever tried this process. When I began to work with him he told me "brown is easy". After doing the job his statement changed to "this is why I hate doing color - it never comes out right."Just as a reminder, Mr. R used only 25% of the required amount of colorant recommended by the manufacturer. He knew from the very beginning that I wanted a rich, dark brown like my previous steps and walk, my other brickwork (he still has the sample I provided) and the trim on my home. He has told various stories throughout the process about what was said by the supplier of the colorant but everyone of them has been denied by the supplier. We are not talking about a slight variation in color hue, we are talking a very light pastety shade of taupe versus a dark brown. The stamp work itself cannot me corrected by staining or any other coverup, that is why I want to have it removed and done correctly.
