Ray's Food Place Reviews (1)

Review: Long time customer of Ray's in Weed, Ca. A couple of weeks back during my bi-monthly grocery shopping, I purchased a large Producer's Low-Fat Cottage Cheese container. A couple of days later, I opened the container to eat the cottage cheese and found the seal had been opened and the product dis-colored. Not wanting to chance getting sick, I discarded the entire container. Today, while once again doing my bi-monthly grocery shopping, I went to purchase another container of Producer's Low-Fat Cottage Cheese, but this time checking carefully to make sure the seal was intact. Which it was. At the register, I brought my concern and experience to "[redacted]" the cashier's attention. She shrugged her shoulders and told me I should buy the Daisy Cottage Cheese. It's better and safer, but more expensive. I told her I wanted the Producer's Cottage Cheese and asked her to exchange it for my defective product. She refused, and refused my request to speak to the store manager. Said, next time bring it back the same day you bought it with the receipt and she MIGHT consider it. But not 2 weeks later.Desired Settlement: I find it hard to believe Ray's would chance losing a customer over a $3.69 container of cottage cheese. I easily spend hundreds of dollars a month there and can't believe [redacted]'s poor customer service is the attitude of the management. But if I'm wrong Raley's in Yreka will become my new bi-monthly grocery store, or a store in Redding.

Response:

My name is [redacted] and I am the Store Manager at the Ray's Food Place in Weed, Ca. Mr. [redacted] was denied a return of a damaged package of cottage cheese by an employee of my store. She is now aware that the policy of the store and our parent company is alway to exchange product that has been adulterated in any way with no questions asked, and she has also been informed that it is not a clerks job to processes complaints and/or exchanges and so in the future she will call a member of the management staff to help in these situations. I have contacted Mr. [redacted] and assured him that this was not the policy and that the clerk has been made aware of the proper process and nothing like this will happen again. I have offered to exchange the product to Mr. [redacted] and offered him a $10 gift card the next time he visits the store.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: After Ray's store manager [redacted] contacted me, I returned to the store against my better judgement. I did my normal bi-monthly grocery shopping. I had the once again misfortune of having to have "[redacted]" check my groceries out. I addressed her as the customer who had the defective quart of cottage cheese a month earlier and would like it exchanged. She denied I ever tried to make the exchange in the first place. I asked her not to call me a liar. and asked to make the the exchange, per [redacted]. SHE ONCE AGAIN REFUSED!!! And rang me up for the new quart of cottage cheese I was supposed to get for free, according to [redacted]. I once again asked for the manager! She came up with some excuse again for not calling him. Another store employee, "[redacted]" overheard my situation as he was bagging my groceries and wanted to hear the details of my complaint. It was WONDERFUL to have a witness that [redacted] could not deny. As I was explaining how I purchased a quart of cottage cheese and upon going to eat the cottage cheese noticed the seal was broken and was missing some of the product. I asked him what he would do? He said he'd return it to the store he purchased it from. I told him I did and [redacted] refused it, just as she's doing it now. I contacted the store's district manager Al, and he assured me a quart of cottage cheese is NOT worth losing a customer over. He had [redacted] the store manager contact me and assure me I would get it replaced. Well here I am, and she refuses to exchange it. [redacted] said the store will get credit from the company the supplies us with the cottage cheese and that if it was up to him he'd exchange it. We both looked at [redacted], and she was steaming LIVID and still refused the exchange. But by now I had already paid for my purchases and had to unbag the cottage cheese to show [redacted] the exact brand of cottage cheese I was talking about. I told him that I was sure AL or [redacted] would be shocked at how this store treats its customers and would report my situation to AL. Which I did, and as of yet heard nothing in response. Until I do I will take my business, and all my extended family and friend's business' to a store that does appreciate its customers.

Sincerely,
