Review: On july 4th, 2014, a group of 3 friends and myself and wife rented 5 bikes and bike locks from [redacted]s rentals. My wife and myself returned these bicycles to [redacted]s rentals later that night and secured the bikes with the company provided bike lock in a video monitored area of [redacted]s rentals. on july 5th, 2014, [redacted]s rentals contacted us to say that the bikes were never returned and must have been stolen. we asked [redacted]s rentals if they reported the theft to the police. they declined to file a police report. [redacted]s rentals declined to review video footage of the reported theft. [redacted] of [redacted]s rentals notified me that $1,200 was charged to one member of our parties charge card. this member of our party was not one of the individuals who returned the two bikes that evening and was a guest from out of the country. I asked [redacted] if he would refund this transaction to the individual who was not responsible and charge to my credit card. [redacted] agreed to transfer the cards on sunday, july 6th. [redacted] informed me his manager, bill, would be aware of this decision and assist me on july 6th. upon arriving on july 6th to [redacted]s rentals, [redacted] and another manager/employee [redacted] informed me they would not allow this transfer to occur. they informed me we must pay them $1,200 in cash if we wanted my friends charge card refunded. banks are not open on sundays. we repeatedly asked them for [redacted]s contact information and they told me they could not release his phone number or last name to us but they would try to contact [redacted]. after 1.5hrs of them telling us [redacted] was unreachable, we called the SDPD. After speaking with officers meyer and phan, they asked [redacted] and [redacted] to allow the transfer to occur. [redacted] and [redacted] immediately complied with this request and made the transfer. the following day, I was informed by SDPD that a complaint was filed by [redacted] that the officers were verbally abusive and should have "minded their own business". the officers were extremely professional and not abusive in any manner.Desired Settlement: upon reviewing the contract which [redacted]s rentals had us sign, it lists that the parties will "agree to pay for the cost of repairs or replacement of the bike or equipment". the contract does not list replacement value in case of theft. while visiting [redacted]s rentals on july 6th, neither [redacted] or [redacted] were able to show us a schedule of fee's if theft actually occurred. [redacted] of [redacted]s rentals has acted in an unethical and underhanded manner in all aspects of dealings. we want our $1,200 refunded.
