RAZR Restoration Reviews (%countItem)

My husband and I called RAZR Restoration as we had a water leak in our bathroom. He came out took measurements, looked under the house , he kinda just took over. He had a guy come measure for the shower. No materials were bought nor any labor done. I guess he decided we were going with him....we've never done this before so really had no idea what we do next. It was taking him quite awhile to get back with us and the insurance adjusters were asking what was going on. I think I spoke with him and he said we'd be getting together. After a couple times of not hearing from him I finally got ahold of his receptionist. Tammy told me the story about Seth's son, that he had died, in a tragic way and I said I was so very sorry to hear that. Time went by I told the insurance adjuster about his son's death and they said yes that is tragic, we'll give him a little time. We gave him alot of time and the insurance people were wanting to get started, they weren't real happy with him as I found out later. I spoke with Seth told him, he also had some correspondance with them as well. Seth couldn't seem to get the material right as he kept having to email the adjusters. This kept going in since November is when I iniatially called Seth. Seth was suppose to start, but he couldn't get with me, always too busy....So I decided to go look for the material. He had picked out tile and stuff and sent that bid into the insurance and I told him " uh were not going with that are we" he said "no thats for insurance" I didn't know what he was talking about!! So I said I'm done and went to go look at some flooring at ***. The gal that worked with Seth told me she didn't know what I was allowed to pick. I called my sister and she said you have to know how much your allowed for tile. So I called Seth, not much help. It was later that evening that I was told by a local buisnessman that Seth was doing the same thing to another client he had but had done no work for. He harassed her

. began construction on an addition to our home on April 2017. During the deconstruction of the kitchen, the refrigerator needed to be moved. When the refrigerator was moved, ***, (employee of ***) discovered a water leak behind the refrigerator at it’s source near the floor. Although the leak was small, *** said the leak needed to be investigated to determine the extent, if any, the infiltration of water into the sub-floor.

I suggested to *** that I would call *** to evaluate the extent of water penetration into the floor. However *** told me not to call ***, as he knew of another company named RAZR Restoration who would respond immediately on an emergency basis. I approved of ***s’ suggestion, and accordingly *** called RAZR.

Seth P (Manager, RAZR Restoration) began setting up floor fans to dry the floor where moisture was detected. I told Seth that I was going to call my insurance company (*** – ***) to report a damage claim. Seth told me not to report this claim, as *** was not a good and reputable company. This accusation was startling, as my husband and I have belonged to *** for forty three years, and have always had satisfactory service. I told him I was going to notify *** inspite of his opinion. Again he told me no, and for us not to worry about it, and then he laughed. I then asked how he was going to be paid for his services, and he said, “don’t worry about it, period.”

NOTE! There was no puddling of water on the floor, nor were the walls wet to the touch.

Three days later when Seth returned to retrieve his floor blowers, I again asked him about reporting it to my insurance company (***), but again he said no, don’t worry about it; he would not commit or be direct with me on the cost for services.

On January 29, 2018 (seven months after the work was completed) I received a bill for eight hundred fourteen dollars, and fifty cents ($814.50). When I received the bill, I called Sean Spurlock (Gale Rue project manager) to questioned him about this billing, but he knew nothing about the service and the subsequent billing. A short time later Seth contacted me and asked if I had spoke with Sean and I said yes. A few weeks later Seth called and asked if he could come over to our home to discuss the matter and I said yes with hesitation. When Seth arrived he was arrogant while asking to be paid. I told him no, because he continued to insist that I not turn it over to my insurance company.

Seth then proposed an option to pay four hundred dollars ($400.00), half of the original amount. I sill said no, then he offered another option to reformat a claim to ***, so they would pay the bill. I said no because the time lapse since the work was completed was approximately seven months old, and they wouldn’t pay a claim that old. The last option that Seth offered was to just drop it. I thought for a moment and them agreed by saying “I think we should drop it.” Seth then stormed out of our house through our screen door; as hard as he hit the door, it is lucky he didn’t break it.

RAZR Restoration Response • May 21, 2018

Ms *** met with me personally and requested we dry out a leak that her contractor found. I was not actually the first one on scene, my foreman was. They told us they would like to turn this claim into insurance. I told them that is fine, but also that the cost may be so insignificant that it may not be worth a claim. They had several thousand dollars of laminate floor damaged but we successfully dried that to save the cost of replacement. Ms *** asked me what the cost would be before starting. I didn’t know so I said we would have to wait until we knew the floors, walls and trim were dry but I told her that it wouldn’t be excessive. We finished and she was happy with the work. Then I forgot to bill her right away. After several months, maybe even as much as 6 months I realized the oversight. I contacted Ms *** with an invoice. She was not happy I waited so long and asked if I would meet her at her house. When we met she was unhappy because she thought I had discouraged her from turning the bill into her insurance. I asked her what remedy she would like. She suggested I eat the whole cost of the job. I asked her if she felt in her heart that we had added no value to her and that she thought it was fair to not pay RAZR anything at all. She affirmed that statement and said she didn’t want to pay us anything. I said OK and agreed. But my accounting system sent her another statement showing her past due amount and she had apparently taken great offense to that. We do not wish to pursue her payment and its unfortunate that she has taken this step. Sorry to waste your time or hers.

Her characterization of the events are grossly over exaggerated. There was never any ill will or intent and we still don't have any malice toward her even though she has misrepresented us to you.

Customer Response • May 25, 2018

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I remain firm in the language of my original statement of understanding. Accordingly, I will restrict my rebuttal to his statement provided to your office. I'm not interested in a back and forth debate about this situation.

Contrary to Mr. Seth P's statement I did not meet with him personally. He was called to my home on a request by ***, an employee for ***.

Seth P (RAZR Restoration) suggested that there was several thousand dollars of damage to the engineered hardwood floor; not laminate floor as he stated. If that were the case, why did he bill me eight hundred fourteen dollars and fifty cents ($814.50)? There was never a threat to the wood floor that would require replacement. The potential damage was focused on the sub-floor, not the walls, the wood floor or the trim.

Seth states that he forgot to bill me maybe six (6) months later. It wasn't maybe six months, it was on January 29, 2018 (Seven months after the work was completed); he back dated his final bill. A few weeks later Seth called and asked if he could come over to our home to discuss the matter, and I said yes with hesitation. Note: I did not ask Seth to come over as he suggested in his response. When Seth Seth arrived he was arrogant while asking to be paid. I told him no, because he continued to insist that I not turn it over to my insurance company.

I did not suggest as he said in his response that he "eat the whole cost of the job". Seth proposed an option to pay four hundred dollars ($400.00), half the original amount. I said no then he offered another option to reformat a claim to ***, so they would pay the bill. I said said no because the time lapse since the work was completed was approximately seven months old, and they would not pay a claim that old. The last option that Seth was to just drop it. I thought for a moment and then agreed by saying I think we should drop it; He never said another work after that; he turned stomped out of our home, nearly breaking our storm door on his exit. In conclusion, I feel that my position on this situation is born out of honesty and integrity not one of gross exaggeration or misrepresentation.

They were hired and paid to do a restoration job that was never finished. When we asked the contractor to finish the work or refund the money, he began avoiding our calls and then tried submitting “modified invoices” to eat up the amount of money he owed in refunds for the work he was paid to do but didn’t. The guy is a crook. In our search for a new contractor to finish the work, we discovered that there are several people in this area he has done similar things to.

Razr Restoration, Seth P, was hired to fix our home due to a fire on Jan 2,2017. He has been paid $52K and has not completed the work and refuses to finish our home. He has not been to our house for six months and says he is now too busy to move forward with our house. We have been living in a hotel for 11 months.
Today, he advised us he will not be completing job and we should hire an Attorney to get a refund.
Our insurance company Liberty Mutual, also advised us to hire an Attorney, and not pay Mr. P anymore money.
