I contacted this real estate agent via his listing for rentals in Wake county and surrounding area. The real estate agent set up a time for me to visit the property, after seeing the property, I agreed to put in for an application so that I could move into the property by its availability date of June 15th. The agent clearly stated that the property will be ready to move in by the date advertised. I asked to be informed as soon as possible so that I do not spend my time and resources looking for other rentals, again the agent told me that he will be in touch shortly. I contacted the agent myself two days later and was told that they couldn't work with my background information, after I explained the situation, he agreed to work with me but now told me that the property was not available to move in until June 29th because of contractors not being able to finish the adjacent property to which the current tenant of this property was relocating to. I made several phone calls and failed attempts to call the agent back and request full or partial credit for the $50 application he had charged me for a background fee. I was now sent an email that he was not willing to work with me due to my background. This business has dishonest practices and horrible communication, as there is no way to leave a voicemail on a already full voicemail box and my calls were not returned in a timely manner, neither the agent ever left a voicemail message if he called and I was unable to pick up my phone. The agent gave conflicting information about my application process, assured me that the property will be ready by the date his listing said it would be and then renege on his statement, assured me the property will be ready on the newly stated date and then told me he can't work with my background and refused to return the application fee after agreeing two days prior.Desired SettlementI would like full ($50) or partial (at least half) refund of the application fee as the agent assured me the property will be ready by a certain date and then changed his statements several times. I was told he was willing to work with my background information a day prior and then told he couldn't work with my information when I contacted the agent to let him know that I have decided to seek another rental and wanted the application fee refunded.Business Response Applicant ([redacted]) paid $50 for non-refundable rental application fee. This application fee was applied towards Background Check. Background Check came back with various issues including Larceny, Worthless Check, and false report to police station. Please let me know if you need a copy of Background Check or Application to verify this information.Consumer Response The realtor agreed to work with me after I explained the situation with the police report, there is no worthless check claim ever filed on my report, don't know where he is creating that fact from, the other record was expunged by the state 10 years ago. Nonetheless, the realtor spoke with me over the phone and assured me he was willing to work with me after finding all the information in the report. I was promised the house will be ready on the 15th, then he called and changed the date to 25th, finally told me the house was not going to be ready until July 1st because the current tenants of the house didn't had their other housing arrangements made due to contractors working on the adjacent property. Again, all of this was after the fact that I spoke with the realtor, he agreed to work with me and then denied when I asked for my money back after the fact that he kept on delaying on the move in date.
