Bad Engine
I purchased a 2013 5.7 Hemi that was piece together. The engine only ran for a week it started knocking and misfiring due to valve train problems. I didn't want another one from them and they wanted a video of the engine running with the garage did and everything was good and once they got the engine back my refund would be issued. Engine retun and then they said it was ran hot.. In the video no overheating issue it was knocking. With that engine a new waterpump and thermostat was installed also . It was a bad engine. Please don't buy from them. They buy from different places and sells parts. If I don't get my refund I am taken them to court!

Bad Engine
Upon purchasing the engine was a good price with low mileage. I thought the engine was located on the East coast from the beginning. The engine was piece together with one new head and new gasket. The MSD system wasn't working properly on this is a 5.7 hemi engine. So the shop took out the engine and the engine was returned and the said it was ran hot. Engine didn't over heat the valve train had a problem. They said it was my fault this happened. I know they was going to say that because the company isn't what they say they're. Please stay away from them! The garage made a video for them to hear the engine run. Knocking not overheating with no coolant leaks. I am getting a lawyer if my money isn't refund.

Transmission never was delivered
A month ago I ordered a 1995 Toyota 4Runner SR5 transmission, and everything seemed to be going smooth. They contacted me, claiming it was in transit and on its way. They then give me a call saying it was delivered. Thing never came. In fact, upon looking at the order the tracking number was completely incorrect, claiming it was a completely different transmission. I called the carrier company and they provided me the paperwork they got, showing that they received the wrong paperwork. I’ve been calling RTS auto parts customer support line and they’ve been straight up saying anything to get me off the line. They scammed me out of 1400 dollars; completely unbelievable.

Horrible
My husband purchased a used engine on my behalf from Ready To Start Auto Parts in late February. He is contractually bound by them NOT to complain, after signing off to get a partial refund of our money (minus $1,300) after receiving TWO defective engines from them. By the way, if you have a bad review on them, they will bound you contractually too.

Our story occurred over 4-months, and it is the worst professional experience EVER!

We purchased their engine for $4,500, were assured it was in tip-top condition. They said it had about 30,000 miles but didn’t put it in writing, which we discovered after the fact.

After receiving it in two weeks, our auto shop reported that the engine was a dud, without question. It wouldn’t even turn over.

Ready To Start Auto Parts talked to the auto shop mechanic and agreed to take it back after my husband declined their settlement offer of $3,400 (we were on the hook to pay a restocking fee for a BAD engine).

After some delays with their shipping company, we sent it back and received another engine in its place, which took much more time. Engine #2 was also a “lemon,” which our local mechanics verified and substantiated. RTS requested proof of testing, which our mechanics sent to them.

Bottom line: we had to pay for installing the bad engine and then taking it out, and then doing it a second time.

Fast-forward to June when the nightmare came to an end. My husband tried but they wouldn’t budge on simply refunding our money and us walking away. After all this, they only gave us a $3,200 refund.

They let my husband know they were being gracious to us in rescinding the restocking fee. So I guess the $1,300 was us paying shipping on TWO bad engines. But it could have been even worse!

Without additional work, it is highly unlikely those two engines will be used in any vehicle, be assured.

AFTER they received the second engine back, they said the local mechanic shop was wrong. RTS’s seasoned mechanics said it was a GOOD engine. This is the same mechanics that had performed the quality check on the first engine, which even they acknowledged was inferior.

As requested by them, our local mechanic had sent them the documentation and error codes they had asked for. Unbelievable.

Their many negative reviews tell very similar stories. Believe them! We just saw those reviews too late.

I don’t see how they do it in good conscience - deceiving people and they know it! Why else would they have a clause saying we will give you a PARTIAL refund but you can’t talk bad about us? It’s on us for not reading the fine print.

If you choose to deal with them, PLEASE READ THE FINE PRINT and get a validation of the mileage you are quoted. But do yourself a favor - move on.

If we had been treated fairly and just been refunded our money, this bad report could have been avoided. My husband called them dozens of times in the past 4 months. They stuck to their script and wouldn’t budge.

I cannot imagine working at a place that dupes its customers so blatantly.

Please don’t make the costly mistakes we did - go elsewhere!
