Bad job on a fence
I hired Lowes who subcontracted to Real Renovations to take down an old wooden fence and put up a white vinyl fence. The job was not complete properly. The stared the fence May 1, 2023. It took them over a week an a half to do a job they told me would only take 2-3 days. After the job was "finished". We found they had left trash all over, used a tote of ours as a makeshift work bench and cut it with their saw. Pushed up a big pile of dirt, left a pile of debris on my fire pit which in turn broke the fire pit. They did not cement the main post properly. (the dumped the bags of cement but never added water or "set" the post). The fence was supposed to but up directly against the house/ garage yet there is a good size gap. Because the poles were not set correctly, they are moving causing gaps between the boards in the fence. As well causing our double gate to sag in the middle. They also left post from the old fence, with cement still attached laying in my back yard.
I have been working with the Lowes installation team to help sort the matter out, however, the owner is not willing to take any kind of responsibility for the bad job that they did. Just excuses after excuses.
I have asked that they refund me for the cost of labor plus 5% so I can have a real company come and fix their mistakes so I have a fence that will work properly. I feel this is a fair request. I have dogs and children and the fence needs to be installed correctly to help keep them safe.
The attitude from Veronica has been so hard to deal with, I had to go so far as to ask them not have her come out as I am worried about how she will act. Yet she is the only one they have to send.
Please see the attached photos of the mess they left and the shot job they did.
I wish I was able to leave a negative star review.

August 22, 2019, ***, hired licensed contractor, Dennis *** H, Roofer of Real Renovations, to replace the flat portion of our roof. H, his friend *** and I (***) went to the credit union and I withdrew $34,000 and gave it to Dennis H. After leaving the CU they came to our home, we signed the contract agreement, and H reviewed the Architectural Drawings. Later, H texted me, to reach out to us and see if we read over the contract. I told him, I searched our home looking for it, to no avail. Later, H said he needed to purchase materials asap! Aug. 27, H texted me, saying he should have the permit on the building today, and ordered all the materials. Sep. 13, H texted me stating "just an update, we have had a lot of unforeseen situations on this roof, and will be installed on Monday (9/16/19)." H, then asked for a progress payment of $8000, he alleged "this would keep our project moving steady." I declined the offer and suggested to him that we follow the contract, which requires H to receive his pay, after the flat portion of the Roof is completed and inspected. Sep. 14 @10:43 am, I texted H, and asked him to revisit our contract agreement. Sep. 28, H texted me stating that the roof is not finished and puddles of water are on the main floor and basement, which turned-out to be a re-occurring issue, throughout Oct. & Nov. Sep. 30 @12:12 pm I texted Dennis stating that from my observations, "what you do and what you say are completely antithetical." Oct.18, H texted me stating, "we will be doing the Dome Roof next week." I was confused because the flat portion of the roof was nowhere near completion. This costly experience was the resulted of inadequacies, lack of experience & knowledge. I expressed to H, that I thought he would have had the presence of mind to re-tarp the roof. The grounds looked like a wasteland. We have enough text messages to verify our claims and more.

DesiredSettlementID: Refund
I believe our $34,000 should be returned to us. Dennis H has properties in Battle Creek and Birmingham, MI - that I know of.

Hello Toni S,

Recently, my husband and I filed a compliant against Dennis *** H. We hired, and paid him $34,000 on (08/22/2019), to replace the flat portion of our (Commercial Property) Roof. As time progressed, despite what he stated, claimed or alleged, it was evident that he lacked the skills and experience to produce a quality leak-free roof. H, own(s) or are associated with four different properties, listed below, as far as we know.

Dennis H and/or ***:

38 *** Avenue, Battle Creek, MI 49014
51 *** North, Battle Creek, MI 49017
1221 *** Street #161, Birmingham, MI 48012
484 *** Main Street, Springport, MI 49284

We will look forward to hearing back from you.

Best Regards,

***,
