I would like to first apologize if the initial text message made client uncomfortable. The initial text was just to let client know the email was received and to invite her to call for an...

appointment. It was also made clear that the office was closed that entire week and the first available appointment was 4/4/2016 which is likely why the client did not receive a text right away. I also apologize if the time frame between text was too long when attempting to reschedule, the scheduler has been reprimanded for this. This client states that she was frustrated because the door was locked and I was a couple of minutes late for the second session. I was less than 3 minutes late and I apologized to client. Client's session went past the hour to accommodate for this time. As stated, client cancelled the next session but came for the rescheduled third session which would have been when we went over the diagnostic assessment and treatment plan. Client states the door was locked and she had no way of contacting this counselor. Client could have contacted the scheduler (as she had texted with her several times)and gotten in contact with this counselor immediately as I was in the building with a client. As I explained to client, I have no idea how the door was locked as it was unlocked for the client before her and was still unlocked when I left the building about 4pm. I called client immediately after I received her note and left a message. I also attempted to reschedule client after this but she was not able to make the times available.
As for her bill, her insurance denied the charges due to her not having met her deductible. I sent her an adjusted bill of $70 for each session totaling $140.00. The rates of $70-$110 are for self paying clients in which I do not have to deal with any insurance. I bill insurance companies the full rate. Because I had to bill the client, I adjusted it to the low end of the self pay scale she saw on the web site. Client states she did not have any progress but was only seen twice. It is unlikely to have psychological or emotional progress made in two sessions. Client states she enjoyed the first session and thought the second one went ok. Client is being billed for the counselor's time and services in session, not the scheduler. She was billed at the rate she herself states she saw and "liked" on the website. As stated, this was a "self pay" rate and client did not present as self pay but was still given the rate. I am willing to further reduce the rate charged by $20 per session leaving her total at $100.00. I believe this is more than fair considering she received the services and was admittedly satisfied with the services.
