Initial Business Response /* (1000, 11, 2016/03/09) */
***Document Attached***
Hello,
We were contracted by a townhome homeowners association to perform a re-roofing project on over twenty buildings in their homeowners association during July/August of
On January 22, we were
contacted by a homeowner who lives in this townhome homeowners associationShe reported that we damaged her metal screen door in the summer of We immediately replied to her email on the same day and told her that we would be happy to look at her concern but that we would need to come out and look at it in person before we made a final determination
She asked that we file an insurance claim with our insurance company and we told her that we needed to assess the door firstIf we feel that we indeed did damage the door we would be happy to take care of it for her
Upon inspection we did not feel that we created any damage to her metal screen doorShe disagreed with our assessmentWe explained to her that the only work we performed was re-roofing and that an asphalt shingle being removed during demolition could not have possibly broken/fractured the metal part of the doorUpon investigation it was determined by our staff that the door was several years old and most likely had deteriorated over time and the damage to her door was not caused by the re-roofing project
I then followed up with the homeowners association property management company and notified them of our investigation and decisionI shared with them a picture of the door and told them to contact me if they disagreed with my assessment and that we would be very happy to discuss again because we did not want any of our clients to be upsetMost of the work we do is based off referrals and we always want our clients to be happyWe have never had any negative reviews of our company in the past and we wanted to keep it that wayThe homeowners association property management company acknowledged my email and agreed with my assessment of the situation
Over a month later we received this complaint through the Revdex.com and we are responding to that complaint right now
Sincerely,
Reconstruction Solutions Group
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 13, 2016/03/10) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
While the my front exterior door may be older, it certainly did not have any damage to it and did not need to be replaced until the contractor caused the damage at the time of the re-shingling of my unitIt was in excellent conditionI was home when the roofers were putting the shingles on over my front door and when I heard something strike very loudly against itI went out after the workers left and saw the door was punctured, which it was not prior to thatThey also bent my exterior light, which I did not include in this complaint as the lights need to be replaced by the association due to their conditionHowever, the door did not need to be replaced prior to this occurrenceNever did I say that the damage was caused due to the take down of the old shingles but rather when the new ones were being put onThe workers had ladders and other equipment that would easily cause the damageThe contractor is in error when they say I filed a complaint a month after their responseI received an email response from the association on 02/10/indicating the contractor inspected the damage and said they did not cause itThe association never stated they agreed with this determination nor would it be their place to opine on such an issueI filed the complaint with the Revdex.com the very next day on 02/11/I also have the email that I received from the association if that is neededI am still not clear on how they would be able to come to the conclusion that they did not cause the damageIt does not make any sense that the contractor that caused the damage would inspect it to determine if they could have caused itI did not need them to inspected to determine the cause as I know what the cause of the damage was since I was home at the time it occurred
Final Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2016/03/11) */
Hello,
In all due respect if the homeowner heard the loud noise on the day of the re-roofing project (July or August of 2015) we do not understand why it was first reported to us over months (January 2016) later after the re-roofing project was completed
We respectfully disagree with the homeowner that we caused this damageNo ladders were set up against the doorEven if they were, and they were not, the damage that the homeowner is claiming that we caused would have been 1-feet from the ground which would not be possible to do with a ladder
Sincerely,
Reconstruction Solutions Group
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 17, 2016/03/14) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I stand by my earlier response that this occurred as in indicated in my previous two responsesI did notice the damage to the door in August right after it occurred and then for got about reporting it as I do not use my front door very often and normally go through the garageThis is what I emailed the company when I initially contacted them as wellI do not accept the business' responses and feel it is unacceptable and that this is no way for a reputable company to do business
