I would first like to begin by stating that Mr***, whom we did not contract this driveway with but rather with Miss *** ***, was instructed by our firm to contact the concrete company who provided and mixed the concrete so they can evaluate why it is in the condition it is in He did not follow through with that suggestion As far as an inspector stating the driveway was not properly sealed , as per the contact a 25% acrylic sealer was applied as protocol Driveways MUST be resealed prior to each winter in order to ensure the integrity of the concrete surface Mr*** did not do so , thereby allowing salt to penetrate the surface and thus cause spalling.Gaetano Cement Contractors does not manufacture the concrete; we installed a product that is provided to us In addition, it is not our responsibility to reseal every clients concrete prior to winter That responsibility falls on the homeowner, in this case that was Ms*** Our offer to power wash and reseal the concrete for an investment will still stand upon his contacting the concrete supplier to ensure they do not feel Ms*** was given faulty concreteWhile our firm understands this clients frustrations at no time have we been contacted by our client whose name appears on the contract, Ms*** *** No request for maintenance has every been received by this client Our firm can not be held responsible for negligence on the part of a homeowner We are happy to offer the same service we offer any other client ; power wash and reseal for the standard maintenance investment
We did respond to this past client and let him know that the issues he is having with the driveway that was installed 3 years ago are due to the lack of maintenance to the driveway. The peeling and flaking are due to deterioration from salt exposure coupled with the extreme winter...

The driveway had never been power washed and resealed to protect it from salt exposure and we were never contacted until now. [redacted] was planning to see the driveway however Mr. [redacted] indicated via email his plan was to have the city inspector come out as well as other professionals to get their opinion. It was indicated to Mr. [redacted] that Gaetano Cement welcomed that idea and that we would wait on the reports he received from those others prior to moving forward. It was additionally suggested that Mr. [redacted] obtain copies of the permits as well as the final city inspection report from 2012 as all necessary city guidelines were followed. As stated the emails in hand from Mr. [redacted] state very clearly his intention was to contact other professionals and then get back to us with respect to their findings. To date I have not heard from Mr. [redacted]. Gaetano Cement Contractors is happy to power wash and reseal the driveway for Mr. [redacted] but as with all our clients this will involve an investment on his part. Maintenance is of paramount importance due to the extreme weather conditions in Cleveland and this is a service we do provide to our clients for a fee. There was never any communication indicating that we did not want [redacted] to view the problem. We have had inspectors view the work. Their response was that a 3 year old driveway should not have the problems we have. They attributed the problems to either poor concrete mix, or the driveway not being sealed correctly when it was installed. [redacted] was making blanket statements about the driveway not being sealed without viewing the damage.
