My husband and I recently stayed at the Red Lion in Albany New York. The check in was going smoothly until the front desk attendant would not honor our 2nd floor request, which was clearly noted in our reservation prior to our arrival. She was not accommodating, said there was no 2nd floor room available, was quite dismissive and even threatened to call the police on us just because I kept insisting that she honor our 2nd floor accommodation request. No front desk attendant should speak that way to hotel guests, it was disgraceful.
The general manager John was indifferent to our complaint when we told him what we had experienced. He then expressed to us that he had heard what happen but did not assess the situation at any point.
Not sure why have a general manager if he is not willing to work with the hotels customers.
We travel frequently and have never had such a negative experience with a front desk clerk and GM.

My recent stay at Red Lion Inn on E Cypress in Redding CA was the nastiest place I have EVER stayed in! I checked in at about 8:30 PM, after a long week at work and a 3 hour drive. I instantly noticed the stains on the banner over the window/curtains and thought ehhh put your blinders on. I went and got a bite to eat, came back and went to bed. I woke the next morning at 730 and went to get a coffee, since there was not even a coffee pot in the room, and came back and got in the shower. When getting out of the shower I notice the bottom of the shower curtain that is nasty with pink and black mold, grime or whatever. Then I reach for a towel, it has pee spots, YES URINE SPOTS AND SMELLS OF PEEEEEE, NASTY! I reach for the other towel which also has stains on it, not urine, but still gross. I then proceed to drip dry cuz I'll be damned if I'm touching anything else. I then called hotels.com at 8:47 AM, who I booked the room through, after explaining to her the condition she asks me if I've said anything to the front desk? My response, "No I've been drip drying for the last 20 minutes"! She contacts the front desk for me and gets back on the line to tell me they said "I didn't complain soon enough". Was I suppose to walk in and do an entire investigation right when I walked through the door the night before? I had no more time to deal with this as I'm now due into Oregon for a funeral. I took the towels to the front desk and there was no attendant so I did leave them with notes and took pictures which are attached. You'll notice in the picture of the bottom of the shower curtain even the stain on the hand towel I threw on the ground since there was no bath mat. This place is advertised to have a microwave, refrigerator, iron etc of which it had none! It didn't even have an alarm clock. I would NEVER stay at this place again! SUPER SUPER NASTY! I have refused the charges for this room and hope that corporate can get a handle on this. I have stayed at Red Lion many times and this is by far disgusting and not of their standards. 1 last thing, I can't believe I have to pick a star because they do not even deserve 1!

I checked in to Americas best value inn, in Jackson, mi. Only to find bedbugs, along with 3 other people that I had talked too, I started taking pictures and a video of the bugs and my 75 year old mother and I were pushed out of the room. I went to the office, were right of the bat they told me there were no refunds and they did not have bed bugs. I told her I had video and she told me I don't know what to tell you except there are no refunds. I have tried to contact redlion.com and any other company related to this and keep getting the run around. If anyone reads this, please comment and tell me how to get ahold of someone. I have read many reviews and the same problem and they also have had a hard time.

My husband went online to book me a room while I was traveling. He was given the 800 number so I called to verify when I would be in . They claimed no reservation had been made. I then called the hotel In San Marcos Texas and was told no hotel room had been reserved. I made a reservation and asked if my husband could authorize his credit card to be billed and I was told no. I used my card and then told them I was delayed due to weather but would call when I knew what time I would get in. I called at 11:09 that night and was told I had no reservation. I told them to forget it I was tired and would find another another place. The next morning by bank notified me they were trying to use my card to charge me for room. I called and told them the same story as above and was called a liar and sleazy that I was trying to get out of paying for a room and they would continue to run my card until they got paid then the manager hung up on me. I want this taken care of. I was out the expense of finding another hotel at 11:30 at night after being on the train for over two days and now the expense of canceling my card at the bank. How dare someone who evidently is inept to make a reservation call me a liar and sleazy. If this is your management staff I want nothing else to do with this company

I stayed in a Red Lions Hotel in Ronks PA, it was the Americas Best Value Inn in Ronks PA. Worst experience ever! I called to confirm my stay the week prior to arriving. Upon arrival, the front desk clerk could not find my reservation. She had to call the manager who also could not find it. It took them 30 minutes to check me in, the clerk did not know what she was doing and had to stay on the phone with the manager. They found the reservation finally they had it under the wrong name. They then proceeded to give me an upstairs room which I could not have since my dad cant climb stairs so they moved me to a downstairs room but charged me 10.00 a night extra in bogus fees. They office did not open till 7:30 am for breakfast or coffee. Each morning we were there, we had to ask them to make more coffee, or did they have more milk, very poor service. Our rooms dead bolt lock did not work at all. We had no microwave in our room either. Very bad service, rude staff. Will not stay in a red lion hotel again.

We stayed in the Red Lion Hotel in Billings Montana, it was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The room was filthy dirt and a dead bug on the window track as well in the corners by the window. The furniture is very worn and covered in dust the headboard tops where dusty as well as there was dirt in the corners of the bathroom. The curtains where dirty as well had holes in them . The hallway rugs where taped down in several places as well as the steps leading to the next floor. The so called courtyard was covered in weeds.

Review: I made reservations with the red lion for our stay ( there are two rooms involved - [redacted]'s Room as well as my room) we received an email confirmation that explained the price of the room 109.00 per night +applicable lodging taxes Government PLUS ID required at check-in - includes breakfast and $10.00 voucher to Neo's Pizza, Denny's or Café Banana. when we checked in the front desk agent took a picture of our confirmation and said she had never seen that before. we again addressed it with the person when we checked out. He explained he didn't know, he was the manager so if something like that existed he would know. I then call corporate office on 10/25/15. As I could not believe that no one ever considered trying to resolve it for us. A complaint was filed, while doing so, she confirmed the "AND" part of the reservation. She stated that someone would be getting ahold of me in the next 3 business days. On 10/26/15 I received an email from the front counter manager that stated the following.

Good Afternoon,

After speaking with my General Manager about the voucher, he stated that it is for Red Lion hotels that do not provide a complimentary breakfast in the morning to their guests. Since we do provide a complimentary breakfast, the voucher is not applicable with our hotel. At check out I did state that I was new and had not been told about this voucher but I would look into the situation more and get back to you. I do apologize for not getting back you with a definite answer sooner.

For that inconvenience I will discount 10% off the room rate or I can send you a Red Lion voucher for 10% off a future stay at either our Tacoma, Federal Way, or Kent locations. Either send me an email or give me a call with your decision at your convenience. Again I do apologize for the misunderstanding and I do hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.

Thank you for getting back to me, you didn’t mention you would, so this has caught me by surprise. It would be nice if your General Manger had actually read the reservation. It does not state OR, it states AND. I have already made contact with the corporate office to resolve.

Thank you.. but no thank you.

I don’t pay for my hotel rooms, they are paid by my employer and I am pretty sure that 10% would be more of a headache than a kind gesture.

Today I called corporate back and they explained to be that the general manager at the hotel cleared out the complain as an email was sent to you.

I was informed that the only way to resolve any further would be to work with the general manager at that site. I did leave a message with the front desk manager as that is the only person they would allow me to talk with.

My concern. is currently on accountability at this point. I would like to receive the voucher that was part of my stay and hotel costs. per my reservation.Desired Settlement: voucher. and if they are not going to honor what is on the reservation , then they need to remove it.
