Red River Electric

I contracted Red River Electric to run power to our pole barn from the house. The crew came with a trencher which did a great job of making a nice neat trench for them to drop conduit and wire into. They got the wiring done and everything worked fine, so then they set forth to cover the trench and this is where the problem came in. The trencher had a flat blade on the front, and instead of pushing in some soil, tamping it down and then pushing in more they basically skimmed soil over the top of the trench which left a hollow space beneith and all sorts of excess soil which was then spread about over our class 5 in front of the pole barn area. The crew complained of the trencher leaking hydraulic fluid and left a pretty nice mess of the yard. They also advised that they should have a Bobcat to do this. I asked a neighbor to come over with his Bobcat after they left to try to smooth things out a bit, but there was still this wide mound the contractors created. A couple days later it rained a bit and that really revealed the poor work this crew had done. The soil they skimmed over the trecnch began collapsing, revealing then tunnel under the soil and creating trenches in areas of the yard. Our soil is primarily clay, so by the soil being spread over areas of our class 5 yard has created a nighmare for us when it gets wet. The soil cakes onto our shoes, and when we have had company recently it was pretty embarrassing to have them trying to climb back into their cars with 5 pounds of clay packed onto their shoes. This work was performed about the 16th of October, and because we were still moving our belongings from the Anoka area I did not issue a complaint until October 30th when I paid my invoice. I was told by Tom Woida that he would bring it up with his superiors and get back to me, which never happened. It was late in the year with winter on the way so I decided to let it go till spring.
