from the patient stating she does not have health insurance.On 7-18-a billing statement was mailed to the patient indicating the total charges of $The physician's group has agreed to extend a 65% discount to all patients who are uninsuredTherefore, the patient would be responsible for $263.90.On 7-28-the patient contacted our office to request an itemized billing statementThe representative explained to the patient that the billing statement that was mailed is the itemized billing statementThe patient Went on to ask why a discount was being extendedWe explained that the discount is for patients without insuranceThe patient asked to speak with managerThe representative placed the caller on hold and the caller hung up while holding.On 8-19-the second billing statement was mailed to the patient now reflecting a delinquent status due to non-payment.Since the patient does not have health insurance that will be processing the claim, payment in the amount of $is dueShould you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly at ###-###-####.Sincerely,Michelle L. As you will note in the claim remarks from the insurance company, I am instructed to pay the amount I have already paid and no moreThe provider is attempting to illegally collect money it is not entitled toI have consulted with a lawyer and if the provider does not comply by marking this bill paid in full, a lawsuit will be filed for damages and charges of fraud will be filed with the attorney generals officeThe bill is paid As noted by the insurance company, if the provider disagrees with the amount the insurance company has decided on, the provider may contact the insurance company but my obligation for this bill is fulfilled and their repeated attempt at collecting additional funds from me is insurance fraud
