Review: I purchased a new Keystone 26RLSWE trailer, and when I was shown the unit it had an innerspring mattress on the bed. I didn't notice it when I picked up the trailer, and it wasn't until I slept on the bed a few times that I started thinking about the mattress. I looked at the mattress again, but it's not the original innerspring mattress. It's a Bunk F1 mattress, which is nothing more than a piece of cheap foam. The dealer swapped out the innerspring mattress I paid for with a cheap Bunk F1 mattress. I contacted another dealer and that dealer confirmed the Hideouts come with a "Deluxe innerspring mattress". Redding RV committed fraud by swapping out the mattress after I purchased the trailer. I am also taking this matter to the California Department of Justice as a crime has been committed.Desired Settlement: I require a refund in the amount of $500, and written apology, and the owner of Redding RV needs to perform 50 hours of community service (documentation required).

Response:

I am disappointed that Mr [redacted] never contacted us before making this complaint so that we could have invited him to our lot and let him look at every Hideout model. Hideout doesn't come with an innerspring mattress and it is unfortunate that Mr. [redacted] was mislead into thinking they did. My integrity is woth to much for me so that I would shut the doors and close the business if Redding RV Center had to stoop so low as to switch out mattresses on customers. Mr. [redacted] is welcome to come by and look at all of our Hideouts anytime he would like so that we can show him that none of them come with innerspring mattresses. When customers look at so many RV's it is not unusual for them to confuse floor plans, colors and equipment. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Review: they had the wreck an I have to pay for something they should have been responsible for while my fifth wheel was in there care resulting in 1700$ dama

I had damaged my roof on a trip which I took my 38 ft. fifth wheel to rv Redding to have repaired because of the damage to the roof there was a whole in the roof we had a storm an even though they covered it it wasn't covered good enough an it leaked or should I say it flooded our bedroom an destroyed our mattress an all our linen plus our comforter which came too about 1700.00 $ in damage the company didn't check on the roof to make sure the roof wasn't leaking along with the linen the rugs got soaked our coach was left in the shopped parked in the back for over two months I checked on it every week to see what progress was being made an was always put off that they are going to get to it , an it seemed that every week I was told the same thing there was always a problem why they weren't working on it so after I kept on them they finally started working on it it took over a week which I could understand when I went to pick it up finding that it was a mess inside the roof was bowed an put back together in hopes I wouldn't notice that the ceiling was bowed when we said something they then said oh we no an we have the ceiling ordered an will put it in when we got back from our trip which we have no idea when we will be back after asking for some help with just the mattress an comforter an we would pay for the rest they reuse to help at all per owner because of what the contract says I feel that they are responsible for reasonable care an not cause more damage that was in there hands to make sure that our fifth wheel wasn't being damage anymore than it was already they tried too turn in a supplemental insurance claim to my insurance which they declined it took over three weeks to get a answer from them too tell us that they weren't going to help at all with the damage they caused because there contract says there not responsible for anything that happens in the shop while there I think they should be some what responsible for certain things maybe something beyond things like fire theft but not something clearly they could have prevented bye not checking an making sure that the whole in the roof was covered completely so no further damage was being done instead they just ignored it until after the damage had been done clearly this was a result in 1700.00 $ in damage in which I had to pay for iam on SSI DIABILTY an on a fixed income this is something I cant afford it. THIS IS A CLEAR CASE OF THEY HAD THE WRECK AN I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT REMINDER IAM ONLY ASKING FOR THE COST OF THE MATTRESS AN COMFORTER I WILL EAT THE REST Desired Settlement: JUST HELP ME PAY FOR THE MATTRESS AN COMFORTER WHICH IS 699.00 $ FOR MATTRESS AN 250.00 FOR THE COMFORTER I THINK THIS IS MORE THAN FAIR

Business' Initial Response

I am very puzzled by the statements in this complaint.

The [redacted]'s brought their 5th wheel in for repair after hitting an overpass and we promptly did an estimate and sent it off to their insurance company to do the repair work.We promptly did an estimate and sent it off to their insurance company for approval to do the repair work. We also covered the hole with a tarp as best we could at that time.

Mr. [redacted] would come in to see if we had heard from his insurance company on a weekly basis acknowledging that we cannot start work on his trailer until we get the approval from his insurance company. He had looked at the trailer many times and had no problem with our tarping of the roof. Furthermore, the customer did sign that we are not responsible for personal items or any damage beyond our control.

Mr. [redacted] also kept contacting his insurance company about the holdup in getting approval for the work to begin. During this time we did get some rain and there was no water leaking into the trailer.

Unfortunately, the weekend before we got the insurance approval, we had a severe thunder and lightning storm which did leak in and get their bed wet. Again, we had tarped the roof as best we could and Mr. [redacted] never had a problem with the tarp job on any of his frequent trips to his trailer.

Lastly, the statements attributed to Redding RV Center and/or any of its employees regarding negligence or fault are completely inaccurate.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

first of all I never went out an looked at any tarp I had no idea how you had the roof covered an as far as my insurance goes I kept coming down to check an see if they had called or had any response an after they Redding rv didn't get a response I called to see what the hang up was now after Redding rv neglected to take care of the problem they tried to submit another claim to my insurance to see if they would pay for it an my insurance said no now in your response you said all that happened was the mattress got wet did you forget that you had to get [redacted] out to clean up the damage that was cause because of your neglect you are responsible to take reasonable care of any rv that is on your lot you new it was storming an you didn't take reasonable care an because of your neglect it cost me over 1700.00 $ it was a lot more than just the mattress now the roof is falling down because you didn't fix the roof in the bedroom just to repeat an let you no I never looked at the top of the roof you didn't cover it good enough you should have checked on it knowing it was storming the way I feel is that you had my rv an you didn't take reasonable care an you cost me money that I didn't have an didn't expects to have to come up with all I ask was for you to help with some of the cost that you caused I just hope you will be fixing my roof in the bedroom when I get back into town when ever someone takes there rv into your shop I think they would think you would take reasonable care of the investment not to damage it any further than it is already

Business' Final Response

This is in response to the latest saga from Mrs. [redacted]. First, let me be very clear, all communications have been with Mr. [redacted]. However, Mrs. [redacted] is the one doing all the responding, but does not have the facts as discussed with Mr. [redacted], including the tarp put over the damaged roof of the [redacted]'s Fifth Wheel.

As for calling [redacted] we did that at the request of the [redacted]'s.

In the response of 08/21/2013, Mrs. [redacted] stated she had no idea how the roof had been secured. However, in her letter of 07/22/13, she stated we attempted to secure the roof. Again, Mr. [redacted] checked on his trailer multiple times including the tarp covering the open roof.

Mrs. [redacted] complains that we took too long to repair her Fifth Wheel. We cannot do ANY repairs until the insurance company gives us the authorization to start the approved repairs. At that point, we order the parts to do the repairs.

I think we could all benefit if Mrs. [redacted] would talk to her husband and get the facts from him before making inaccurate statements.

Review: We bought a used trailer from Redding RV Center. We bought it there and were told that their service department checked the trailer thoroughly, placed a new battery, and all systems were working. We did a walk through with the trailer while hooked up to electricity in their shop and all seemed well. However, the first time we took it camping with no hookups it had no power. When we brought it back to the service department at Redding RV, they checked the trailer and told us the converter was shot and would have to be replaced and they would not fix the problem because it is a used vehicle. Used, yes, but it was supposed to be in working order and obviously was not.Desired Settlement: We would like Redding RV to replace the converter and make sure the trailer works on battery like it was supposed to in the first place.

Business

Response:

The trailer is a 15 year old trailer that was bought as-is with no warranty. Our service department did go through the tent trailer and make sure everything worked at delivery and the customer even states that everything was working when they picked it up. Two months later they came back and said that their batteries didn't work. The service department checked it out and found that a fuse had blown causing the lights not to work on battery. In further checking out the trailer it was found that the converter had now begun to charge the batteries at more than 14 volts. The converter had nothing to do with the lights not working on battery. The customers problem on their trip was a blown fuse which we replaced. As stated earlier, the tent trailer is 15 years old and sold as-is with no warranty. Electronic parts such as converters go out instantly one day, they do not gradually go out over time. We can not replace 15 year old parts months after they leave the lot and not knowing how they were used or stored.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:I don't know who they had that conversation with

But it was not us! The problem with the trailer tail lights was upon pick up of the trailer and was fixed before we left. That had nothing to do with our complaint. The complaint was that the first use of the trailer Nothing worked on battery and the service department's only statement was that the converter was bad and they wanted $179 plus labor to replace it. We declined their service and took the trailer home. Since then, we took the trailer to another service shop and found out the converter is fine, the battery was just drained because the CO moniter pulls a constant charge and we need to disconnect that while it is sitting. So our complaint with Redding Rv now is that they were trying to get hundreds of dollars to repair something that was not even broken. Admittedly we are learning when it come to trailers and they

Review: Sold an RV with to me with broken shackle bolts.

The Wildwood Sport Fifth Wheel was sold to us with broken shackle bolts. This is a very unsafe condition. So unsafe that it could cause a major accident on the highway if the bolts would have failed. This trailer was sold to us with this unsafe condition.!!!

I bought this trailer March 11, 2013. I had it towed to my property (78 miles). The trailer sat there until August 2013 (5mos.) then I had it towed 20 miles to my house. That is when my husband noticed the broken shackle bolts. These shackle bolts are in such bad condition that it is obvious they were like this when we bought the trailer. They are so bad that the shackle bolts are broken into and about ready to explode.

This is a 1999 WildWood Fifth Wheel Sport. Unit number vehicle ID number; 4X4FWDF24YCXXXXXX, Model 306. License number; [redacted] Paid Cash $7,126.63: Sales manager; [redacted]

This trailer was sold to us with this unsafe condition. (although the trailer was sold to us "as is" that does not make this acceptable, it is against the law to sell an unsafe vehicle).

We asked Dave to have someone come and fix this problem, he said the owner will only send the parts and we had to fix it ourselves. This business is a cheating and lying company. I want to warn people about this. I am so mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Desired Settlement: I want Redding RV to fix the Shackle Bolts and I want them to get a citation for sell a trailer with a safety issue like this!!

Business

Response:

Initial Business Response

First I would like to say that Redding RV did not sell this trailer with broken shackle bolts or in an unsafe condition. The pictures clearly show fresh breaks in the shackles that would indicate rough handling on a very bad road. I suspect the trailer hit a pothole at a high rate of speed. Secondly shackles don't explode and even if they fail are not safety items. Shackles are normal wear and tear items that we sell all the time to replace worn or broken ones. The trailer is 15 years old and was sold as is and does not come with a six month or a year warranty. Out of good will we told parts to send the customer two new shackles and they accidentally sent a full set of eight. The customer then called to ask how to install them before writing this complaint.

This request is akin to buying a used car as-is and after 6 months getting a flat tire and wanting the seller to replace it with a new one.
