Redline Cylinder Head & Engine Reviews (1)

Review: I had an engine built and installed into my wifes vehicle and it was immediately starting to consume a lot of oil. estimate a quart every 300 miles. I call him about it, and he says he didn't bore the block, only honed it. I asked him to do something about it and he said he would meet me in south Dakota with another rebuilt engine and we would exchange. I was fine with that, he never got a hold of me to let me know when and where to meet him. mind you he refuses to pay for the motor to be removed and installed for this exchange. which is unacceptable in my opinion. Fast forward a while, I was laid off at work. I felt this was a good time to drive it out to his place and I would help him pull it, either fix this one and install it, or just install one if he had one rebuilt and ready to go. He did offer to fix it, but I had to bring it to him, drop it off, and come back in a couple weeks/month to get it. I expressed the fact that as I am laid off I can't afford to be going over and back twice. I live 1500 miles away from him. He also said that I could have the motor removed and he would meet me half way to pick it up, and as soon as he was done with it he would meet me halfway again and drop it off with me. I found this a desirable proposition, but only if he paid for the removal and installation. He refused and said, "it's not my fault you decided to buy from someone 1500 miles from home". well obviously, but it isn't my fault the motor gave out in Minneapolis either. I like using small business' over big any day and I thought I would give this guy a chance. Talk about a knife to the back. There are other issues with the motor too, it has nowhere near the power advertised, that come from the mods done internally. the distributor he used has been getting oil inside the body, which is a failed seal inside the shaft housing. when I replaced the distributor, the gear at the bottom was already wearing significantly. the other large problem is now I'm dealing with a new issue, I believe it has jumped time, badly. I am about to pull the front timing cover to see, and will be taking pictures of any damage, signs it jumped a tooth, etc. I also have pictures of the spark plugs that I have to pull once a month and clean because they have became so fouled with carbon that it wont run well. Mind you please, that this motor was installed at 186,177miles. It now only has 199,xxx miles.Desired Settlement: For him to pay for removal/installation, and I'll pay for shipping of the motor from here to there and back. Or, he build a motor of the same specifications, I'll pay to ship it to a shop of his choice, they will R&R it, and then ship the bad motor back from the business at my expense.
