I have a Ford Explorer that was brought into this shop with a failing transmissionThe shop would not give me a dollar estimate prior to looking at the vehicleVehicle was brought in Monday, I got called Wednesday and given optionsA transmission rebuild would cost a maximum of $plus tax, possibly lessOn Friday, I am out of town and they call meNow they tell me they have had to cut several bolts, wiring harness, and shift linkage due to corrosionThey tell me that this required replacement of said parts as well as drill and tapping new mounting bolts for the transmissionNow the estimate is $plus tax, and I am stuckThis is not within the WA state requirement of staying under 110% of the estimateThey seemed to deliberately not give me a written estimate that would have protected meTwo weeks later, I get the car backTransmission works, but at 60mph and above, I get an intense vibration that gets worse with speedI have wheel balance checkedNot the issue
