Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Ms R [redacted] says "It was explained to patient that this would be covered by insurance as long as she had satisfied her deductible ..."This is not true at allShe never explained or said anything about insurance or deductibles or any type of money information during my visitI keep very accurate records of my deductibles and would never approve these charges She also claims that they explained things to me in communications after the visit, and that I left nasty messagesThis is also falseShe will never be able to produce any recordings of my so called "nasty messages" because I never left anyOn the other hand, my phone system automatically records all messages and all communications I made to their office, so I know exactly what was said in all communications and I can provide my monthly call records to corroborate the record If Lisa had called me back, I never would have filed this complaint, but they ignored me for monthsThe public needs to be warned about how they are charging people and just sending out bills without getting approvalSincerely, [redacted] ***

Patient came to our office for a new patient consultation/visit on 8/8/2016. Patient was seen for a rash on the scalp and face and a benign lesion on her forehead.
The patient was seen by me, Dr. Stacy R[redacted], and was informed that the lesion was benign, just like the lesion on her leg. Patient was...

offered destruction with liquid nitrogen which would be the appropriate treatment for the lesion. It was explained to patient that this would be covered by insurance as long as she had satisfied her deductible. Upon receiving verbal consent for treatment from the patient, the nurse left the room to get the liquid nitrogen (as this is not kept in the examination room). Patient was counseled on the risks of crusting, scabbing, blistering, earring, darker or lighter pigmentary change, recurrence and incomplete removal.
Patient's insurance was billed. Per patient's insurance, she had not satisfied her deductible resulting in a patient balance of $222.05. On 11/21/2016 our office received a nasty and threatening letter from the patient insisting that we adjust her bill in the amount of $222.05. Lisa called and left a voice mail message for patient to discuss her account. Patient returned call and it was explained to her that the services that were billed to her insurance were accurate. There would be no adjustments to the patient's account. Patient was not happy. She then called back several times and left nasty messages. Due to the nature of her letter and phone calls, Lisa fe lt it not necessary to engage in conversat ion with her as she had already been told that the account would not be adjusted.
Respectfully,

Stacy N. R[redacted],MD

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
Ms R[redacted] says "It was explained to patient that this would be covered by insurance as long as she had satisfied her deductible ..."This is not true at all. She never explained or said anything about insurance or deductibles or any type of money information during my visit. I keep very accurate records of my deductibles and would never approve these charges.
She also claims that they explained things to me in communications after the visit, and that I left nasty messages. This is also false. She will never be able to produce any recordings of my so called "nasty messages" because I never left any. On the other hand, my phone system automatically records all messages and all communications I made to their office, so I know exactly what was said in all communications and I can provide my monthly call records to corroborate the record.
If Lisa had called me back, I never would have filed this complaint, but they ignored me for months. The public needs to be warned about how they are charging people and just sending out bills without getting approval. Sincerely,[redacted]
