 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  This response is not accepted, because the company (Refunds-to-Go), states in their response letter that they provided me with an amended tax return, and they also sound as if, the error was on my part, of not providing them with additional information.  First, there is no additional information that you provide with an [redacted] Injured Spouse form.  The only information is your spouse's date of birth and social security number.   As the client, I trusted the business intergrity, because they had prepared my taxes in previous years, that they understood how to complete this form, since I file this form with my taxes every year.  I informed the company, that there was no need to prepare an amended tax return, because IRS had already advised me that they only needed the Form [redacted] corrected.   They also sound as if, it was my error that I did not review my tax forms, which I always do.  My tax forms were correct, it was the Form [redacted] in question that was re-done 3 times, before it was correct.  I have no knowledge of how this form is to be completed, so even though I reviewed it, I still would not have known that the correct amounts were not placed the specified columns.  After calling IRS, and they explaining to me, how this form is to be completed with the correct amounts alloted in the correct columns, I then was able to call the company and explain it to them, how the form should have been completed.  Again, this is something they should have known, because they have completed this form each year for me.  As you see in the email trials, I sent, them several emails with no response.  One email I sent them on June 25, 2014, and no response, so I sent them another one on July 2 and July 9.   As for the fact that they said, they provided me a discount for preparing my refunds, I did not receive this itemized list of charges; the preparer only advised me that my total preparation was $140, and in the previous years, my fee was only $100 dollars, and again, I was never informed that I was receiving a discount.   It is so frustrating, that this company, refuses to refund a small amount, such as $140 dollars.  This company is not being honest, they have ignored my calls and emails, until I finally decided to not call or email anymore, which is most likely, what they preferred.  Mr. Thorman Jerry spoke to me in one phone conversation, and informed me, that he would at least give me half of my money back, and he never did.  In my many calls to his assistant, Debra, she was the messenger to him, and many times I would call her, and ask her the status, and she couldn't provide me any information, because she would make excuses that she had to talk to Mr. Jerry first.   If they had at least prepared the form correctly on the second attempt, it would have been ok, but because I had to go back 2 additional times, this is why I asked for a refund.
I kindly ask that they refund me my money, because of the many times they had to re-do the Form [redacted].   This is not good customer service, that a company should provide to the client.
I appreciate your assistance.

I am responding to the complaint a customer of Refunds-To-Go, by name of [redacted], filed with The Revdex.com regarding the preparation of her 2013 tax return. [redacted] alleges that her return had many errors. She also alleges that we ignored her phone calls and emails.
Form [redacted] is filed by one spouse (the injured spouse) on a jointly filed tax return when the joint overpayment was (or is expected to be) applied (offset) to a past-due obligation of the other spouse. By filing Form 8379, the injured spouse may be able to get back his or her share of the joint refund. The injured spouse eligibility may change from year to year. So it is very important that the taxpayer provides us with the most accurate data to complete this form.
In order to determine the share of a joint refund, additional information must be provided by the taxpayer each year. If the information provided to us is not correct, a different result will be calculated. This is not an error but rather a change in calculations based on additional information provided by the taxpayer.
In [redacted]'s case, when additional information was provided to our tax preparers, an amended tax return was completed promptly and presented for her to review at no additional charge. Our policy is for the taxpayer to review, approve and sign the original tax return or an amended tax return before processing any tax returns. After a review of [redacted]'s prior year tax return, there is a history of amended tax returns in prior years.
Generally, if you file Form [redacted] with a joint return on paper, the time needed to process it is about 14 weeks (11 weeks if filed electronically). If you file Form [redacted] by itself after a joint return has been processed, the time needed is about 8 weeksThe following is our printed customer satisfaction policy. “If you are not pleased with the service you receive in the preparation of your tax returns and choose not to file them or allow us to redo them, we will refund your fee in full.” We stand by our policy. When [redacted] brought this to our attention a change or an update to her tax return, she elected for our company to redo them.As a goodwill gesture, we offered to [redacted] a 50% discount on her 2014 tax preparation, she refused this offer. This offer is still extended to [redacted].
We discounted the original cost of [redacted]'s 2013 tax return preparation to $140 due to prior customer loyalty. The actual cost to completed [redacted]'s 2013 tax return would had been higher based on the complexity of her return which consisted of form 1040, Schedule A, form 8283, Schedule C for small business and form 1040X. There was never an agreement to refund the $140 to the client.
Included are the correspondences between [redacted], as you can see that we did not ignore her calls. During the non peak season, our office days and hours are shortened. Our current business hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am – 4 pm.Thank You Refunds-To-Go

Regards,

Review: I have been filing my federal and state taxes with this company for a few years now. I started doing business with this company, because the previous owners, who did my taxes for several years, retired and sold the business to Refunds to Go. This company prepared and submitted my taxes for 2013 in February 2014 and charged me a fee of $140. My taxes always include the injured spouse form. This company had to re-do my injured spouse form [redacted], 3 times, before it was finally accurate. I called and email them on several ocassions, and sometimes did not receive a response to my email or phone messages. I kindly asked them for a refund of the $140 dollars I paid them to prepare my taxes, because I felt that since they made so many errors, they should at least refund the money I paid them to prepare my taxes. After asking for a refund, they stopped answering my phone calls and emails, and then finally sent me a letter telling me that they could not refund my payment, but they would take off 50% of the payment when I file with them next year. I sent them an email asking them again to refund my payment, and I informed them that I did not want a 50% credit for preparing my future taxes. They still have not refunded my payment of $140. This is not a good business practice for a business who is serving the public.Desired Settlement: I kindly ask for a refund of my payment of $140 dollars.

Review: [redacted]
