We received your letter dated 4/29/15. The customer's computer was received, and was diagnosed to be severely infected with viruses. We wiped the hard drive clean and reinstalled windows for the customer. We did indeed charge $125 for this. I was away on vacation when the customer brought the...

computer back to the shop. Upon my return I examined the computer, and found that the computer had taken a power surge, and that the power supply needed to be replaced. This had nothing to do with our previous service of the unit. I explained it to the customer in this manner: If you took your car to [redacted] and got a new set of tires, and the next day your water pump failed, those are two unrelated issues. Getting new tires does not cause water pump failure. Likewise, having your hard drive wiped and reloaded does not cause power supply failure. Just like when you fix the water pump, you will still have new tires; once you replace the power supply, you will still have a new, clean computer. The customer acknowledged that he understood the explanation, but refused to accept it. To try and help remedy the situation, we offered to install a new power supply at cost. We offered to waive the labor charge. The customer could even bring in another power supply not purchased through us, and we would install it. Unfortunately, the customer refused to accept our remedy. Due to the changing of the seasons, we have been receiving a great deal of TV and computer repairs with power supply issues due to the abundance of electrical storms. In a final effort to foster good will, we would be willing to replace the power supply, even though it is not our responsibility. We are not able to furnish a refund for good work already done. Thank you for the opportunity to address this issue. Charles H[redacted] 3144 North Shadeland Avenue Indianapolis, IN 46226 317-405-9100
