Regal (Hoyts) Cinemas Bowie Crossing Stadium 14

Review: On June 16, 2013, I along with my family of four (five total) attended the Man of Steel show at 5:30PM. Unfortunately, being as though there really aren’t any age restrictions for children and infant s accompanying parents, they are welcomed and attended this movie. With that being said, amidst the whining, crying, and busy children, my family was faced with a combative and aggressive movie goer sitting in the center third row fifth seat with his family of four. From what I gather, my significant other looked to ensure his phone was dim, which it was, and the patron began yelling expletives while reaching over my daughter’s chair with his elbow in her face while the movie is playing. This lewd patron pushed his wife back in her seat and yelled “Shut the F[redacted] up!” as she tried to calm him down. After a challenge to “meet outside,” 1) my disregard for the theater was solidified and 2) my family’s safety was at risk. As a parent I was upset this patron didn’t have the respect to govern a decent conversation with children present and he’d scared my child into thinking an act of violence would ensue with his threat. After 15 minutes of calming myself, I informed the police officer standing outside of theater 9 what had occurred and that I needed his presence during and after the movie in the event there was an altercation. My daughter has eczema and scratched nervously throughout the entire movie. While she scratched and I tried to watch the movie, I noticed the young lady sitting two seats down to my left on her phone, a patron in the handicap sections LED light blinking brightly during the movie, the lit screen from a patron sitting right in front of the entrance theater seating, and a toddler running around during the movie. Still even after speaking with the officer, I had to vomit in the restroom. Despite informing the officer of what had occurred, the movie ended without police presence to ensure my family’s safety or that of the patron, who was clearly still upset that he followed up out of the movie theater and into the men’s restroom. In the past, we have encountered unattended teenagers within Rated R movies, movie hopping and being very loud during movies, in addition to phones not being silenced, which have resulted in receiving 2 sets of 5 tickets one set per incident. I have watched how the quality of this movie theater has deteriorated to the point this will be our last time attending movies at this location, there’s not enough police presence or security to govern and protect movie goers.Desired Settlement: As a result of this incident, I request a full refund or a complimentary credit to any Regal Theater of our choice outside of Regal Cinemas Bowie Stadium 14 Movie Theater.
