Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[redacted] at Reglazing Plus, came to my apartment on 12/**/2014 to inspect the damages present on my tub. When [redacted] arrived, I pointed to him my issues with his finished product: (i) cracks in the glaze, (ii) peeling of the glaze in the corners, (iii) glaze over debris (iv) partially covered stains and (v) marks at the bottom of the tub. [redacted] became instantly agitated and informed me that his company was only responsible for cracks in the glaze, not for the partially covered stains which he insisted were made afterwards, or for the marks at the bottom of the tub, which he claimed was man made damage after the work was done by either me, my partner or some other imaginary contractor. As my building logs will prove, Reglazing Plus was the only contractor allowed to do work in my apartment in December 2014, and as my building’s porter can attest, the bathroom was not used until 12/*/2014, as our porter helped us discard of the tapes, tarps and covers in the bathroom, which were therefore left for more than the 24 hours the reglazing plus tech told us to wait.In addition, [redacted] told me that his company would only patch the cracks, and would not do anything about the marks at the bottom of my tub, or the stains which were left uncovered, or even the peeling occurring in the corners. However, I pointed to [redacted] that (i) I had pictures taken a minute after Reglazing Plus’ tech left on 12/*/2014 showing these damages and that (ii) my pictures where dated, timed and geolocated with the embedded EXIF data. As my building’s security logs and surveillance tapes will confirm, my pictures were taken on 12/*/2014 at 11:48 AM as the tech left my apartment. Pictures IMG_8251.JPG and IMG_8252.JPG, show significant cracking, peeling in multiple areas of my tub, picture IMG_8253.JPG shows a partially covered stain and picture IMG_8254.JPG shows marks left at the bottom of the tub. When I pointed out to [redacted] his flawed logic and his lack of standards, proving to him with my pictures, that beyond the shadow of a doubt, his company was fully responsible, he yelled that “he was done” and stormed out of my apartment. At this point, I had to miss three half days of work for a tub that looks nothing like what was promised to me, i.e. a perfectly reglazed tub. While Reglazing Plus had two occasions to fix my issues, I do not trust them anymore to fix anything. I would like my money back, so that I can hire a company with professional standards and strong sense of moral and ethics to fix these issues, which should never have happened in the first place had Reglazing Plus did what they were supposed to do.

Review: Last year, I used Reglazing Plus to refinish my bath tub. The technician at the time improperly applied caulk around the edge of the tub before glazing instead of after (which is not common practice and contrary to our agreement), causing the edges to crack when the glaze dried. [redacted] from Reglazing Plus said that if we had any issue in the future, they would be happy to correct the job free of charge. This year, we decided to take her up on her offer, as the seal failed and the cracking resulted in mold growth. [redacted] agreed to send someone out to repair the edges free-of-charge, but said we would have to pay an additional $175.00 to completely sand and refinish the entire tub. Although this was not our original agreement, we did consent as we wanted the job to be perfectly done.

On December *, 2014, Reglazing Plus sent a tech who said he would completely sand and reglaze the tub. When he was finished, however, we noticed that he did not actually remove the original, faulty glaze or caulk but just sprayed a new layer over the existing problem areas. There were also pre-existing stains on the tub which were not covered by the thin layer he applied. Finally, there are additional chips on the edges which were not there before, areas failing because they were applied over debris, and general splotching, uneven texture and grittiness to the finish. We have the sign-in sheet from the building showing when the tech entered and left and time-stamped photographs from immediately after he left to show that the conditions were the fault of an inferior job, and not anything done by us afterward.

In addition, the tech demanded an additional $50.00 to caulk the edges, even though this was to have been included in the complimentary repairs per my conversations with [redacted]. He would not leave until we paid him, so a check was issued which we immediately cancelled.

I e-mailed [redacted] the same day to show her the pictures and let her know we were unhappy with the job and would like a refund (as they now had three chances to do the job correctly) which we would use to have the job done properly by another, more professional contractor. [redacted] said that she would be unable to issue a refund until [redacted], her [redacted], could come out and look at the work. We agreed and took an additional morning off of work in the good faith that he would see the job and either agree to redo it for free, or refund our $175.00.

Unfortunately, [redacted] did come and, despite photographic evidence proving the contrary, tried to say the problems were caused by us after his tech left, and denied that there were any issues, although they are readily visible to the naked eye. [redacted] also displayed a recalcitrant attitude, inappropriate voice level and disparaging tone. He deflected all responsibility and refused to do anything satisfactory to rectify the shoddy, unacceptable work and damages he caused to our bath tub. Clearly Reglazing Plus has no pride in its work and delivers an inferior product. Moreover, [redacted]'s attitude and tone were completely out-of-line for a Revdex.com-accredited business.Desired Settlement: Payment of $250.00 from Reglazing Plus to me, as per below:

I would like a full refund of $175.00. In addition, I had to prepare the apartment myself in advance of this job using dropcloths and tape at the cost of $50.00. We were also issued a check-cancellation fee of $25.00.

Although I believe that Reglazing Plus should pay punitive damages for our inconvenience and reimburse us for lost wages, I would settle for the amount of $250.00 relating to the tangible expenses above.

I would also like to point out that the technician job was approved by the cuomer at time of service, at time of caulking the tub after repraying job, the technician noticed the small issues - offered to repair it at time of caulking at no charge and was told by the cutomers Partner not to do any repair ashe thought it would set his partner off in some way. All this being said Reglazing Plus Inc. stil has every desire to honor the 5 year warranty issued at time of first service - stands buy this warranty and stands ready to provide the minimal touch up service needed to fix the issues (touch up 2 grain of sand size pimple, buff off small man maid stain and fix water mark - 2 issues that are not warranted), id would also like to point out that our warrantee covers cracking crazing pealing and bubbling ONLY, none of these issues are covered by the warranty but as always, and as we have always done and as [redacted] Offered at time of visit, it a free vist to fix a small issue will make our customer happy all he needs to do is call for an appointment.

Review: Ihad my bathroom remodeled, and the help this man had was low skilled workers. They didnot do a good job paintaing my walls,as well as the ceiling.plus, I had new tiles put down which were not cut right near the door and they filled it with excessive grout.to top it all off when they put my radiator back in I just discovered a few days ago that they didn't connect the thread [redacted] into the valve because it;s not aligned properly so as a result I have no heat in my bathroom.when I callled him a few weeks ago to fix these issues noy t including the radiator problem because I just noticed that a few days ago,he wanted to send the same guys that did not do such a good job painting and spackling.I told him that I wanted better skillful workers to finish the job right, and his respose was this is all I have.so I told him not to send them, and that I payed you to do a job fight. He then used profanity language towards me and told me well your bathroom looks 100x better thah before as a means of justifying himself for his low skilled workers. In addition to this it took his guys two and half weeks to complete a five day job with his men coming in the evening instead of day time.so the guys he wanted to send back didn't even know how to fix the tile next to the radiator.if I felt I could resolve this issue with him I would have but not with the same workers who cannot do the job right.Desired Settlement: I need to have my tile near the door cut right, and the radiator thread [redacted] connected to the valve,as well as well as my ceiling finished right and some chips in the reglazed tiles.

Response:

On august [redacted] a visit was made to [redacted]s home to estimate a laminate job (not remodel) of his only existing bathtub, our contract included only a reglaze of the existing tub and wall tile, laminating existing sheet rock walls with a thin layer of new sheet rock over the old, painting, re tiling the existing unlevel floor, cutting the bathtub to create a walk in shower for [redacted] aging parent and installation of new toilet, vanity sink and 2 medicine cabinets and painting a radiator. Our Contract was signed by [redacted] on 8/**/2015 , and work started on 8/**/2015. I t was explained to [redacted] that all though we would do our best, but could not guarantee that the work would be completed in the four days he was demanding it take ( the 2 color reglazing portions of the job takes 24 hours of dry time between colors and the floor takes to days to lay set and grout) [redacted] also insisted that we pick up all items for is bathroom (medicine cabinets, vanity , light fixtures, faucets, eg.), this resulted in multiple visits to home depots all over NY because [redacted] was having difficulty making decisions as to what he wanted or did not want resulting in the purchase and return of 8 medicine cabinets, valets, and mirrors (total job and travel time approximately 10-12 hours) As Far a the 6 technicians sent to his home (all having multiple years experience in there fields) [redacted] unfortunetely found fault with every technician and in his bid for rushing them at every turn played a large part of the reason this job took 8 days instead of 6. we however made every attempt to make this customer happy, went above and beyond (working around his work schedule, working through the weekend and starting parts of job after 4pm ad working till 11pm) as well as traveling from Brooklyn to queens in search of bathroom items he could finally approve. While we do agree that there is approximately 2 hours left to complete this job, after [redacted] refused access to fix the Small paint problem and fix 1 tile to be able to set the radiator (not part of the original contract as painting and shaving his door was not part of this job), on 9/*/2015 (day scheduled to complete the job) [redacted] called and refused service. We still stand ready to come by and fix all issues he has with this job (which comes with a 5 year service warranty) we just ask that he let us finish what we were scheduled to finish 9/*/2015 without further interruption , pay his existing balance and fully enjoy his refinished bathroom. He is free to call us anytime to set up this appointment to complete the work.

Review: We needed to reglaze our bathtub and chose this company from it advertisement in the local Clipper magazine. We spoke over the phone and were told that their price was $425; we had a $25 coupon from the ad so the price was to be $400. We agreed to that over the phone and made a date for the job. Upon arrival today, the technician [redacted] told my husband for the first time that there was going to be an additional $75 charge for them to clean up when they were done, or we could clean up ourselves. The $75 clean up fee was never disclosed when we called to book this job. [redacted] also told us that he had to remove all of the brand new grout that was just put in around the tub and that he would be replacing it with caulk when the job was done. This was also not disclosed when we booked the job and was not acceptable to us (caulk gets filthy and is ugly). We told [redacted] that we were not proceeding with the job due to the several things that we were not previously disclosed to us. He then told us we would be charged a service fee and he left. As soon as he left, we called the company to complain, and were told by a guy named [redacted] that we would have to pay for the service call or they were "going to ruin our credit". My husband then told [redacted] we were going to file a complaint with the Revdex.com and [redacted] then told my husband "[redacted]" and hung up on him.Desired Settlement: a guarantee that we are not going to be charged any money for their service call since if we had received full disclosure of the costs, the cleanup, and what they were planning to do we would not have hired them in the first place

re: Complaint [redacted] - in reponse to this compaint, I spoke to my Partner shortly after [redacted] called and she notified me that she did indeed notify the potential client at the time of comfirming the job that the bathtub would have to be recauked 24 hrs later and a few peices of paper would have to be removed from the tub as they cannot be removed from the tub whe the tub is still wet from refinishing do to risk of damagiong a fresh finish, I was explainded to the person she spoke with that we do not come normally come back 24 hrs later to recaulk but that service can be ordered at time of job for additional 75.00 plus tax, there seema to be a comunication problem between [redacted] and the other individuals in his home. As for the charge of 75.00 for canceling the job at the very last minute (after my technician had his equiptment set up to begi the job - we will in good faith wave this fee). as for the othe comments we are accused of making, we do not speak to people that way no matter how beligerent they may become.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved - but only with respect to the fact that the company has agreed to waive their $75 service charge. We dispute several comments in the company's response, I was never told in advance that there was an additional fee for the clean up and I was nothing but courteous to [redacted] when I spoke to him, I was not at all belligerent and he did in fact curse me out and hung up on me, but hey, we are New Yorkers are not offended, we now consider the matter concluded and appreciate their courtesy in cancelling any fee..

Sincerely,
