temperatures exceeded 90+ degrees and the contractors were backed up for over 2 weeks. When we did get an HVAC contractor to come out, our next hurdle was getting the needed equipment. Everything was back-ordered.
During this entire time the resident had a window air conditioner in the apartment.
As of today, July 14, 2015 the central air is running as per our HVAC contractor.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2015/07/15) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The air was fixed on July 14, 2015 (one day away from a month without air). As I informed the property manager last Wednesday (July 8, 2014), there was only one air unit supplied up until last Tuesday (July 7, 2014) and that was in my roommates bedroom. We were not given a window unit for the living/common room area until Tuesday, July 7, 2014, therefore I was without air for 3 weeks. For both June and July's rent, my roommate and I have paid over $1,420 including utilities. I find this completely unacceptable considering the conditions that we were forced to live in. As previously stated, we are requesting to be refunded a portion of rent.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2015/07/22) */
Given the heat wave and the lack of availability of equipment, we, in good faith did our best to resolve the issue and have now resolved the issue.
However, if the residents would rather terminate their lease, we will allow them to terminate the lease without penalty, provided they leave the apartment in good condition.
Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 12, 2015/07/24) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I accept the proposed resolution and will be turning in a 30 day notice to terminate the lease without penalty. I will also attach a copy of this document to the vacate notice for documentation and record purposes. Thank you.
