Review: Purchased snowboard and snowboard bindings at this location 4 years ago in 2012. At time of purchase, REI had a no-questions asked 100% satisfaction guarantee with no time limitations on return. REI has since changed its return policy to be within 1 year of purchase. However, according to their corporate officers, customers who purchased items before June, 2013 are grandfathered in with the previous unlimited policy. Currently experiencing mechanical issues with right binding as it is not securing properly to the board. Extremely dissatisfied with product due to premature failure. Brought product back to REI Sacramento on 22 April 2016, however, managers refused to honor return policy citing that the product was bought over ago. Fraudulent and dishonest consumer practices as customer bought under previous unlimited return policy, and is now unjustly disallowed from returning product due to new corporate return policy. By advertising and selling to customer under one set of return assurances and then following a different set of return policies, REI has defrauded the customer and engaged in "bait and switch" sales tactics. Customer tried to resolve issues at the operational and corporate level, however, no resolution has been found as of this writing. I was assisted by Manager [redacted], and general manager [redacted] at the REI Sacramento store on 22 April, 2015. Both refused to accept return citing new return policy. [redacted] had also sarcastically told customer that since he "was finding no luck buying snowboard equipment at the store to buy product from elsewhere." [redacted], the general manager, condescendingly insinuated that the customer would not have much to return citing customer's return history, issuing a challenge to the customer to return previously bought items from REI. Given that both managers acted rudely, sarcastically, and were unprofessional. I would prefer to deal with some other REI team member in the resolution process.Desired Settlement: Was willing to take store credit at first, but given the sour experience and distrust developed, I am now only willing to accept a refund on the products purchased.
