Review: I'm filing this complaint due to the seller’s gross misrepresentation of product information, purposely misleading me to believe weasel fur is of higher price and quality than mink fur by taking advantage of me not understanding the English word for the animal “weasel”. The seller also lied about the time of the sleeves alternation as an excuse of not issuing refund.

1. Gross misrepresentation, Misleading information, and Rip-off

(1) Seller claimed his products are of premium quality, and are superior to big department store’s designers’ brands. Also, when answering to the question where the fur of the jacket at issue came from, he claimed it was either from the United States, or imported from Finland, to give an impression that fur is of higher quality. Please refer to the link above of the product being sold by a Taiwanese exporter.

(2) When comparing the weasel coat at issue, with a mink coat, seller misled us into believing weasel is a more expensive fur than mink coat. He said, I would sell this mink coat at half of the price of this weasel coat, because the weasel coat is brand new, and it is made of whole skin.

Since the seller claimed that his family business has been running for nearly 66 years for three generations, he would know this well. According to my research, some unethical manufacturers would secretly patch weasel fur, as cheap substitutes, to mink coats in order to make high profit.

(3) Rip-off price – as explained above, weasel is about to be the cheapest material among all furs listed. The seller inflated the price tag, to $11,400, and brought it down to $7,200, claiming it was the lowest price he would go. His price, is largely different from the exact same coat sold by the Taiwanese seller mentioned above.

2. Lied about the time of the sleeves alternation, as an excuse of not giving refund. At the same time, he made an offer that aimed at more rip-off of the consumer.

The store was closed for the day, right after we made the purchase on Saturday. Seller asked us to go back in one week, to pick up the coat because there’re many people in line to get their coats ready. I left a note at the door, on Sunday (the store was closed on Sundays), to ask the Seller not to alter the sleeves because I would not want the coat. Monday morning, seller called back saying it was too late, they had already done alteration of the sleeves. He claimed it was done Saturday evening – the tailor took the coat back home and did it.

Seller offered to exchange for a real mink mink coat, with exact the same style. And he said, because he wanted to keep me as a good customer. The mink mink coat would cost $1,000 more (which directly contracts with his previous misleading claim that weasel is more expensive or is at least as good as mink), he would like to share half of the cost because I am a great customer. After I pointed out I saw the exact the same coat on sale for less than $1,500, he said, fine, you don’t need to pay me $1,000. Meanwhile, I found the so-called mink mink coat on the same website, for a little over $2,000.

3. The seller also tried to mislead us into believing his products were sold at great volume that we should make the purchase soon.

The seller showed us his “warehouse”, of thousands of fur coats stored there. He told me these coats have already been sold. I later found out, it was a storage service they provided to fur owners – they don’t actually own the coats. And the mink coat I mentioned earlier, that he would sell to us at half the price of the weasel coat, does not belong to the store either. He used it to convince us to the weasel coat would be a better choice.

A few days later, after I noticed that I would file dispute, the seller sent a mail threatened that they would charge me storage fee for the untaken product and they would throw away or not be responsible for the loss of the untaken product.Desired Settlement: Would not want to make further purchases with this dishonest seller. Would like to have full refund.
