My wife and I had contracted with [redacted] to build our home. He was recommended and we eventually recommended him to others, two of which hired him to build their homes. Now, I would warn person to stay away from his company.
Here are the reasons why.
We had the home built in 2003.Within the past twelve years we had three leaks in our water heater that caused significant damage to an adjoining bedroom. That was in the first five years. Eventually we brought in [redacted] plumbing to re-plumb and replace the water heater. A note worthy point, I asked [redacted] about the issue and he said he no longer uses his plumber that plumb our home and gave us the number of his new plumber who said his old plumbers workmanship is what caused the leaks. We decided not to use [redacted] plumber but went with [redacted] The cost was high but even an untrained person such as myself can tell the quality of the work is much better by just looking at how it is done.
We have numerous cracks in our dry wall and more each year. I had to repair calking that keeps separating around the tub and bathroom sink. We called an engineering company, that [redacted] uses himself, and they found fault in the number of pilings that support our home. I called [redacted] and e-mailed him the engineering company report, at his request, so that he could look at it he told me he would come out to look for himself but, he did not and stopped answering my calls. This was about a year ago. We have estimates of $6,000.00 to add the needed structure to fix the home and up to nine months of slowly raising the house. We hope once the work is done the floors won't squeak, the interior doors will stay closed, and windows will fully close and lock. We are also using more energy to heat and cool the home. We will also need the dry wall patched and walls repainted after the house is leveled.
We have had three leaks in our roof which we used another company to repair. They found workmanship to be the cause. Of course this caused us to repaint three areas of the home. The roofer found a major support beam was not nailed to the roof and only nailed at the base. He showed me that it free floated side to side. At least this man fixed it without any additional cost to us.
Finally, about two years ago [redacted] came knocking on our door asking us to use him to replace our roof after a hail storm that damaged multiple homes in our neighborhood. We had already asked Dales roofing to give an estimate and because we trusted [redacted] we decided to go with him. Now, December 2015 we found another leak in our roof. He has not taken my calls or returned my email using his web site. All I asked is if the warranty on the roof is still active.
Their was also electrical light switches upside down, outlets upside down and no calking around the shower top all of which we had to have repaired.
All tolled we will spend any where from eight to eleven thousand dollars to fix a twelve year old home.
