I placed a service call for my central air unit with a [redacted] from [redacted]. She went over the details of the call including a [redacted] cost for the 1st hour and additional charges every 15 minutes thereafter. I scheduled a same day appt. and waited for the technician to arrive. [redacted] showed up at 12:15pm and diagnosed my unit to see if there were any problems. After the initial diagnosis, he began fixing some frayed wiring that was showing. [redacted] finished at 1:18pm and told me that the circuit breaker for the unit was no longer working. The unit was working less than an hour earlier and now I have to spend an additional [redacted] - [redacted] on a new circuit breaker. [redacted] then went to his van to write the bill up. I paid by credit card and [redacted] called the bill in. Once [redacted] left (about 1:28pm), I noticed on the bill that I was billed for 1.5 hours of time. I called the office and spoke to [redacted] again. [redacted] informed that I have to pay for travel time one way and that is where the additional [redacted] came into play. [redacted] acknowledged that it isn't on their website and that she didn't inform me of this cost in the first conversation. I felt like this was a hidden fee and now my electrical needs work done. Overall, I told [redacted] that I didn't feel this was good service and customer service. [redacted] offered no solutions and/or refund of money considering the omission was hers.Desired SettlementI would like the 15 minute refund for travel time that was never expressed to me. It feels like a hidden fee and I definitely do not appreciate the "sneakiness" in which it was applied. I would also like reimbursement for the new circuit breaker I now have to purchase. I am not an electrician, but when something breaks directly related to whatever the technician may have been doing, it doesn't seem right for me to now incur more costs.Business Response We acknowledge that we failed to inform the customer of the travel time one way (maximum of 15 minutes, or [redacted] We do not list our pricing on our website, however we agree that it should have been mentioned to the customer when he called and inquired about our costs. It was in no way meant to be "sneaky", but was an honest omission.Regarding the broken circuit breaker, we acknowledge that this occurred during the service call. Had the part been stocked on our technician's truck, we could have replaced it. Unfortunately things do break, and this was not entirely our issue, but we would have been happy to rectify the situation had we been prepared. The customer chose to take care of this issue himself.That being said, we will credit to the customer the cost of the travel time [redacted] plus the cost of the circuit breaker [redacted] a total credit of [redacted] We do not like leaving our customers unhappy, and apologize for any miscommunication that there may have been.
