In October 2004, my 2000 F150 had a head gasket go bad and allowed coolant into the oil which ruins the internal bearings. I was going to remove, rebuild and replace the engine myself. I had the parts reserved for pickup and had the engine 80% out. I ran out of time and space to complete the job. I met with [redacted] and his offer was for $1500 I would supply ALL the parts and [redacted] (Reiner's Eastside Automotive)would: Remove the engine, tear it down, clean everything, replace all bearings, rings, timing chain parts as needed, strip the heads and send them out for milling. The engine would be reassemble and reinstalled.
His quote of $1500 seemed low and I asked why. He stated that if I was supplying all the parts, $1500 was fair for him. I returned the next day with a document that I drafted stating what parts I would supply and what work he would be doing. [redacted] and I both signed it and we each kept a copy.
[redacted] said it would be a week before he had room in the shop and he would call me. A week went by and no call. I called him and he needed more time to finish up some "small jobs". Again no call and the shop's phone went straight to voice mail for two days so I drove to the shop and met with [redacted]. He said to plan on having the truck there the next Wednesday. I called on Wed. to confirm they were ready for the truck. [redacted] wasn't there but I was speaking to [redacted]. [redacted] said, "We're going to pass on working on your truck" I asked why and he said they "just were" I pointed out that I had been flexible and had delayed three weeks to help them out. [redacted] said they were not taking "my kind of work" in anymore. I proposed they help me with my truck as agreed and had strung me along for three weeks and then not take in different work in the future. [redacted] replied,"No, were going to pass on your truck"
My conclusion is that this business is very flaky and not one I want to do business with or would recommend anyone else do business with.

[redacted] Reiners of Reiners Eastside Automotive has been my mechaninc for the last ten years. He has always treated me fairly, has always fixed the problem, and has always beat the competition on price. I trust him and his associates implicetly.

Review: I had my vehicle towed to this place after speaking with [redacted]. I needed to have the carburetor fixed on a 1959 Ford F-100. I was quoted over the phone $500. to rebuild the carburetor and put in an electric distributor. Well with numerous calls that I placed over a 2 year time frame all I got were excuses from [redacted]. I gave him $250. to start the work and he never did anything with the truck. He than wanted to charge me towing fees and storage fees for his incompetency. He threatened me with violence when I came to pick up the truck. I left and called the police. I had to pay towing fees just get my truck back that he was suppose to fix. Very shade business practices no contract other than verbal over the phone which would be fine at any honest shop.Desired Settlement: I would like my $250. down payment to be refunded and the $120. he charged me because he had the vehicle towed off his premises instead of doing the work that he agreed to.
