Washing machine repair misdiagnosed and refund not received in a timely manner.Called Reliable Maytag to repair Frigidaire front loading washing machine. Machine would not spin clothes and complete cycle. On October 2, 2014 repair technician named [redacted] arrived to investigate/diagnose problem with washing machine. After checking the washing machine [redacted] said "I know these machines very well and I know exactly what the problem is." Under the service performed section of the receipt for that day the first word is not legible but the following words are written "washer found board bad. Call w/price." [redacted] said she would get a price on the replacement part and call back with the cost, which she in fact did do. The price for the new board was quoted as $185.00. We were told this is a special order part and once ordered we could not return the part. Based upon [redacted] high confidence diagnosis we decided to authorize the repair and pay for the part and proceed with the repair. On October 10, 2014 [redacted] installed the new board in the washing machine. I was charged $185 for the part, $66 for labor, and $11.56 for sales tax totaling $262.56. I paid the $262.56 with a personal check number [redacted] That check was cashed and cleared my bank on October 14, 2014. The evening of October 10, 2014 my wife did a load of laundry and found the machine still not working and the exact same problem was happening. My wife, [redacted], called and left a voice mail message reporting the problem was still not fixed. On Monday, October 13, 2014, [redacted] returned and removed the new board, cleaned some wires, and found a leak in a pump. [redacted] said she would "talk to a buddy who was an expert in Frigidaire products" and see if should could get some additional information about the problem and a solution. After this visit the washing machine worked properly (using the original board) until November 26, 2014. [redacted] advised to keep track of the machine and call back with an update. My wife, [redacted], called on October 16, 2014 and left a detailed message for [redacted] with a woman (don't have a name) and said the machine was working ok and asked if [redacted] could call back about the leaking pump issue. We did not receive a call from anyone at Reliable Maytag for the next two weeks so I called on Friday, October 31, 2014. I spoke with a woman (don't have a name) and was told my wife was supposed to call back and update them on the repair. Apparently this was not the same person my wife spoke with on October 16, 2014, so I updated this woman and asked if we could receive a refund for this repair issue. I was told I could receive a refund for the board once the board was returned to the vendor from which Reliable purchased the board. I asked what the time frame was for this process. I was told they would send it out on the next delivery truck the next time they had a part order and once they received their money they would reimburse the cost ($185.00 plus sales tax) to me. I asked how long the process takes and they said a couple days to a couple weeks. I asked if this process would take 6 days, 6 weeks, or 6 months. I was told it would not take months. To date I still have received no refund or any sort of update from Reliable Maytag.Desired SettlementI would like to be refunded $185.00 plus the $11.56 sales tax I paid as well as an additional $66 the service call on 10/31/2014. It makes no sense to pay for a service call that didn't fix the problem.Business Response we are willing to refund the 185.00 plus sales tax of 11.56, also 33.00 for 1/2 the labor charge . please let me know if this is sufficient
