Reliable Remodeling Contractors has not finished the job. They replaced the siding, but when the stain/finish failed, they have not fixed the issue. In June of 2010 we hired Reliable Remodeling Contractors for a big job estimated at about $25k. Our old pine siding was completely removed and replaced with cedar coated with clear ceramic that was supposed to last and protect the wood for up to 25 years. In the process, rot was found behind the old wood and needed repair. This was handled fairly as far as we know, though the total job ended up costing $42k due to extra repairs involved. We also had our windows replaced, which was difficult with many different sized windows. All exterior trim was replaced, around the windows and all over the house, including facia boards. The work was performed well and as we'd hoped. After about 6 months we noticed a white, cloudy coat on the siding. We had been told that this might happen, since ceramic was mixed with the finish. But it should have gone away and did not. To the company's great credit, willingness was shown by them to help fix the issue. I contacted [redacted] ([redacted], I believe, and [redacted]) in spring of 2011, slightly less than a year after work had been completed. He said that he would come by and take a look, which he did, determining that there was too much ceramic in the mix and stating that he would powerwash and re-coat the siding. In November 2011 he came to our house and powerwashed. Since it was getting cold, he said he would powerwash again in the spring (2012) and then re-coat. But they have not followed through. [redacted] sent a man out last August (2012) to powerwash the house again and said he would come and re-apply stain/finish in the fall of 2012, but that never happened. Since then, attempts to contact the company have been ignored. I even called and [redacted] answered and he claimed he was "[redacted]'s brother" and that [redacted] was out of the country. So:The outstanding issue is that the original coat of finish applied over the cedar in 2010 failed and the company agreed to fix it. This has been halfway done, as they did power wash the finish off the house in 2011 and again in 2012. However, a new finish has not been applied, and that is a key aspect of finishing this job and was a key part of the original estimate.Desired SettlementWe would prefer that Reliable Remodeling Contractors give us money, based on several estimates, so we can have someone else put stain on the house. Alternately, we would be willing to discuss having Reliable Remodeling come and finish the job.Business' Initial Response In 2012 Reliable Remodeling received a call from [redacted] regarding the exterior Cloudy Clapboard appearance of the work we performed in 2010 of Ceramic Coating...Also, [redacted] was made aware that the house will have a cloudy appearance that would clear up a bit because its Ceramic Clear Coating...upon receipt of call I proceeded in investigating the matter and determine that the house Ceramic Coating was done correctly but offered to Power Wash to lighten the appearance...after discussing this with [redacted] we proceeded and scheduled Mr. [redacted] to power wash the house to lightened up the cloudy appearance which Mr. [redacted] was aware was going to appear. Thereafter, we discuss to apply another coat to give it a Clear Shine and remove the cloudy appearance...also, Mr. [redacted] stated that a few boards were loose and crack and he wanted them replaced under warranty and we agreed. Furthermore, we agreed to schedule Mr. [redacted] to apply another Clear Coat at full strength to remove the Ceramic Cloudy Appearance...and he was made aware that the Ceramic will offer a Shiny appearance other than the cloudy appearance. Mr. [redacted] agreed and contacted us for the scheduled date in [redacted] 2013. As we were out of town, we have not been able in contacting Mr. [redacted] but he was made aware by phone call that when we return back in town we will schedule him in next month in replacing any cracked boards and Clear Finish Full Strength of CERAMIC COATING.Thanks in Advance, [redacted]Reliable Remodeling Contractorwww.reliableremodelingcontractor.comInterior & Exterior Carpentry/Painting(XXX) XXX-XXXX cell(508)-616-7792 OfficeConsumer's Final Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Our reasons for wanting a new contractor to complete this job are completely valid, as is our expectation that Reliable Remodeling Co. will pay for the job to be completed since we already paid them for a finished job, which was not what we received.Business' Final Response As Reliable Remodeling had a last discussion with Mr. [redacted] late in the fall of 2012...I discussed with [redacted] that we have purchased already the Ceramic Finish which is a very expensive product and will set up a time to apply the application. Also, it was agreed that we make contact after the spring pass [redacted] summer in setting up a schedule to reapply the product. Further, we agreed to replace any damage boards that may have been scorn from previous power-washing. Reliable Remodeling still agree to uphold the agreed contract warranty...but if [redacted] would prefer to have another contractor apply the product we have paid for we will not appose this position but any or all warranty will be null and void thereafter if any other contractor touches any work Reliable Remodeling has performed will null & void ALL Warranty within given warranty.

First Reliable Remodelig failed to remove dumpster full of demolition debris upon completion of work. First Reliable Remodeling ordered a dumpster bag for the debris from a wall removal job and placed on my driveway. The bag was to be collected by no later than Tuesday March 4, 2014, four days after the work was completed. Numberous attemps have been made to contact [redacted] ([redacted] on the job) who promised to have the dumpster bag removed by Friday, March 7th at the latest. As of Monday, March 10th the dumpster bag is still on the driveway and no answer was received from [redacted] as to if/when the dumpster will be gone.Desired SettlementRemoval of the dumpster from my driveway as soon as possible.Business Response The dumpster was removed...the situation was out of my control but when the client informed us we immediately got ahold of Co. in getting the bag removed. The dumpster is no longer there.
