Let me preface this by stating that I really do try to see the good people. I am not the jerk here. A man named [redacted] at Remart is however.
It began with with an ad on Craigslist. A gold ford focus wagon. Exactly what I had wanted. I called and spoke to [redacted] the first time about this car... I was immediately told it was a great little car. In perfect condition! I was so excited. I called back two more times. I asked how many owners it had had: ONE. I asked if it had been a local owner: ABSOLUTELY. I asked if there was anything wrong with it: ABSOLUTELY NOT. I was ASSURED that the car was excellent and well worth my trip to Helena from Billings. [redacted] would have her cleaned and ready! So I got the loan, insurance, and my folks and we headed out to Helena at six am to see and hopefully buy this GREAT little car.
Now not being an it I had asked for the car fax but [redacted] told me that it would cost him just as much as me so if I wanted a carfax I would have to get one. So I DID! Now I was willing to overlook that [redacted] WAS CLEARLY A LIAR! The car had come from Utah, had three owners, and had been totaled. However, being told it was in nice shape and seeing what I am sure were FAKE pictures I still thought it was worth it.
We arrived at REMART and I finally got to see this little beauty. I am not lying when I say it was the biggest mess I had ever seen! First off it was filthy inside and out. The mirrors were all broken as well as the knobs to adjust them. There were four chips in the windshield. The back windows were broken and wouldn’t roll up or down. *in fact one was stuck half down. The driver’s seat was broken, there were various parts missing (cup holders, the rack for the back, etc.) I WAS NOT IMPRESSED! [redacted] however quickly changed his tune from A great little car to IT IS WHAT IT IS. He proceeded to tell me that he had driven it that morning and that it ran great and actually encouraged me to take it to his trusted mechanic to give it the once over. So I did.
HOLY CRAP! I started it up and I thought the car was going to shake to pieces. I literally growled from the second it started until we turned it off at the mechanics shop. Well, his mechanic told me he had already done a lot of work on this car, but that it still had various leaks, battery problems and that if he were going to buy a car HE WOULD NEVER TOUCH THIS THING!
So I drove her back to [redacted] AT REMART IN HELENA MONTANA. I don’t mind telling you that by this point I was ticked. I handed the keys back to [redacted] and he had the nerve to ask how it went. When I told him everything that the mechanic had said he repeated what must be their slogan IT IS WHAT IT IS. He never apologized, never offered me a lower price, NOTHING! I asked to speak to the manager and apparently [redacted] IS THE MANAGER. Convenient for him huh?
I'll tell you right now that I have never written a bad review before. I have always just thought people have bad days and it’s not worth hurting their business but HOLY SPIT! I couldn’t sit here and let another person go to them, have someone else get lied to, tricked, and treated so badly. REMART is seriously THE WORST BUSINESS I have ever been to. I have heard used car salesmen are skeevy but shoot [redacted] TAKE SKEEVY TO A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL! He is without a doubt the worst business man in Montana. I am not surprised to see that other people have had the same experience. With [redacted] as the manger I would go there again if you paid me. I would rather ride a bike to and from work than give him my business and YOU SHOULDNT GIVE HIM YOUR BUSINESS OR TIME EITHER. Trust me REMART is not worth either.
So to make this long story short if you are looking for a real true lemon, a real shady guy, a disaster of a deal and want to walk out of a place fuming REMART IS FOR YOU! But if you want honesty, a reliable ride or even just a decent human being DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AT REMART!!!!!
The place is a joke, run by an [redacted].

Review: On 15 July 2013, I purchased a 1999 used Subaru Legacy Outback from Remart (Helena, MT) for $4,555.00. At the time of purchase, I was not provided with any option for a warranty. In fact, the car did not have a battery, so one had to be "borrowed" from another vehicle so that I could drive it. I expressed to the owner/salesperson, that I would not be using their mechanic for any necessary repairs, as their standards may not be on par with my own mechanic's standards. On Saturday, 28 September 2013 (75-days after purchase), the car overheated and died. I was able to limp it into my mechanic's shop, and after some discussion was able to get the repair costs down to $2,500. Of greatest concern, and the reason that the vehicle died, was the warped and blown head gaskets and 2 of the pistons. The mechanic expressed, with no qualms, that these issues had been present long before I purchased the vehicle. I telephoned the owner and expressed my dismay at me now being forced to fork over half of the purchase price into necessary repairs. Without hesitation he expressed to me that he had offered me a warranty. I politely iterated that he certainly had not. His response was, "well, there's a sign on my desk." I then inquired, "so, you're saying you did not offer me the warranty?" His response was, "Well, it's not my problem."He continued denying any accountability for several minutes. I then expressed that Helena was a small town and word might get around about how he treats his customers, so it would behoove him to act with some honesty and integrity instead of lying about offering a warranty and showing a complete lack of concern. Again, his response was, "I don't care; it's not my problem. You can do whatever you want."Now, I'm out $7,055 (150% more than its value) for a car I bought with known deficiencies. The owner may attempt to sway you with his bravado. But Buyer beware; he is a thief and a shyster. He will not be honest with you, and he has no character. My advice, do not buy from him.Desired Settlement: I would like the owner of the company to contribute toward the cost of the necessary repairs.

Review: Purchased a car at Remart last week. Was verbally assured by the salesman that it was in perfect working condition. We were not told that the battery was bad, and the dealer/salesman is refusing to replace it.Desired Settlement: I would like for Remart to replace the battery, with no cost to me, in my 2004 VW Touraeg.

Review: On 31 May 2014 I traded in a 2006 Jeep Commander to purchase a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. The first issue that I had with the dealership was that the documents for me to register the vehicle were not mailed to the DMV until 1 day before the temporary tags expired. With my work schedule, I was unable to get to the DMV on the 1 day that I had before the temp tags expire. When I was finally able to get to the DMV, I was told that the dealership had not completed the paperwork correctly and they had to mail it back adding to the frustration. Luckily, I was able to contact the dealership while at the DMV and have a form faxed to the DMV so that I could get the vehicle registered. Because of the mix up on the paperwork, I waited at the DMV for a total of 2 hours while waiting for the dealership to fax the appropriate forms. As of 22 Sept 2014, I still have not been sent the title and other copies of paperwork for the vehicle.

The second and more pressing issue is with the vehicle I traded in. It has been nearly 4 months since I traded the Jeep Commander in and the bank that I had it financed through has still not received a payoff. Since the time of trade in, I have had to make 2 payments to stay current on the payments so it does not negatively affect my credit. I have spoken with the dealership several times over the last few months trying to find out what the issue is. The first few times I called, the associate I spoke with refused to acknowledge that the issue could possibly be on their end and said that they had paid it off. I requested a check or receipt number for payment to my financing bank but they could not comply with my request. Finally, after several phone calls, I heard back from the owner and not just an associate. The owner told me that they found out what the issue was and would overnight a check to my financing institution.

This last phone conversation was over a month ago (20 Aug according to my phone record) and my financing bank has still not received a payment for the trade in. As of 22 September , I have made several phone calls and not received a call back from the company.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund check from Remart Inc for the total of the payments I have had to make to stay current on the payments for the trade-in vehicle. Also, please send in a payoff check to the financing institution for the current amount.

Additionally, I would like Remart to mail the title for the Jeep Wrangler that I purchased from them as well as a copy of all documents pertaining to the sale.

Review: We purchased a 2001 Subaru Forester from Remart March 2013. We took it for a test drive and noticed that the idle was inconstant and the engine ran a little rough. We mentioned this when we got back and they stated that they had replaced one of the o2 sensors and since it wasn't fixed, it must be the other one. They stated that they would take care of it. They also stated that they had replaced the transmission and that a warranty was provided with the company that installed the transmission. At the beginning of April the transmission in the forester started slipping and soon after would not drive at all. I called the transmission shop assuming that it would all be under warranty and found out that the transmission Remart had installed was a used, junkyard transmission, not a new or rebuilt one as led to believe. The transmission shop understandably does not warranty used transmissions. I was informed by the shop owner that Remart always buys junkyard transmissions and never new ones. I questioned Remart on the transmission and they claimed to have stated that it was used (which they did not) and that they don't quote other company's warranties (which they did). We did not obtain the statements about the transmission in writing, which was a huge mistake. We are now forced to pay for a new transmission (over $3000) or install another used one. I have given them opportunities to rectify and they will not budge or offer any help whatsoever. They clearly are guilty of misrepresentation by not clarifying it was a used transmission and not stating the truth about the warranty. They are also now refusing to replace the o2 sensor that they promised. Absolutely do not buy or sell a car from this company. Always make sure you get everything from this company in writing as they are not honest and they will not hold up to promises made.Desired Settlement: We have tried many different ways to come to some sort of compromise, but they will not negotiate. We even tried offering for them to assist in paying for half of a used transmission (part only labor excluded) and they refused.
