Remco East, Inc Reviews (4)

Bad news! Ive been a tenant for 2 years and have had many maintenance calls ignored. I've been charged $350 every season for leaves to be raked (its a 5,663 sqft lot with a 1,908 sqft house so the yard is very small) despite any efforts I put in to cut, trim, edge, and rake the property's landscape. Ive tried to dispute the absurd charges to remco, but it just turns into a childish "he said she said" debate. We have also verbally agreed on renewing the lease several times. They preceded to break their word one month before our lease expires (10 days before graduation) and sent us our 30 day notice to move out. Three months when remco and I agreed on renewing the lease, they clearly had no intention to do so and just told me what I wanted to hear. Something very fishy that they'll tell you to do is pay your security deposit to the previous tenant and leave them (remco) out of it. I haven't moved out yet but I suspect that getting my deposit back will be next to impossible","neg-1

Did not return security deposit as expected.Deducted for items that they replaced which were due to normal 'wear and tear'.My son was a tenant at [redacted] until he moved out on 11/2/14. We paid $495.00 security deposit before he moved in. When he moved in, the apartment was not very clean. The walls were dirty, light bulbs were burnt out, the ceiling was yellow from dirt and the outside patio looked like something from a horror show with about 50 mud dauber nests, leaves, cob webs and extreme filth. The carpet was not very clean. We had 1 day to get him moved in, so we cleaned everything as best we could, which took several hours, and moved him in. I called to report the issues on the following Monday. While he was living there, the dishwasher didn't work well at all and the dishes had to be hand washed most of the time. Maintenance came and worked on it, but it never worked correctly. Most recently, the drain to the air conditioner got clogged and leaked out all over the carpet. Maintenance had to come in and pull back the carpet and setup fans to try to dry the carpet. Maintenance never came back to tack the carpet back down into place, they just left it pulled up and my son had to lay the carpet back down on the floor, so it was never laid back down correctly from that point on. I just received the closing statement and my security deposit (what little of the deposit that we received back - $47.25) and the charges are ridiculous. We are being charged for light bulbs, plates to go over the light switches, a set of stove drip pans, and to replace the carpet. There was nothing wrong with the light switch plates when we moved out and we had to replace light bulbs when we moved in because several were burnt out. Switch plates, stove drip pans and carpet are things that should be considered as damage due to normal 'wear and tear' and the tenant should not have to pay for these. We also were charged for a late fee, which was a misunderstanding that occurred when we did not renew our lease and went to paying month to month. [redacted] from Remco called me, since I am a guarantor on the lease, and let me know that we needed to include an extra $20.00 on our monthly rent. I had already paid the rent for September, so I sent another check for $20.00 for the September 2014 rent, which covered the additional rent because that's all she said we owed. We are being charged $25.75 for a late fee for September's rent. We were also charged $40.00 in labor. These charges are not warranted and we should have our entire security deposit returned to us. Desired SettlementReturn my money for these charges. All these charges are not warranted and should fall under 'normal wear and tear' laws. In all other apartment complexes that my son has lived in, these types of things were replaced by the owner when the owner refurbishes the apartment for the next tenant.

I had the misfortune to have to do business with the extremely inefficient staff at Remco East in Greenville, NC. They have been unable to take care of even simple matters like handing over the remote for the garage at the time I rented a house to not informing me about important events like when workers were coming over to do important repair work. On top of that, certain staff members are very rude with a racist attitude expressed by condescending mentality towards people who are not English speaking or non white in ethnicity. I am disappointed that I would have to deal with these people until my lease is up. I definitely would NOT recommend them to any potential tenant or homeowner.","neg-2

Remco East forfeited the lease not me. I should not be charged the way they had addressed the matter. On March 1, 2014 I signed a lease with Remco East for the property located at [redacted]. The place was dirty and the stove did not work. I did not have a stove for 12 days after calling and calling the office. The roof leaked and mold grew in the spots. Also during a storm the rain gutter fell and hung for 31 days after numerous calls to the office. The dishwasher never worked, the garbage disposal never worked, the electrical outlets never worked. After several calls to the office to make repairs I never had maintenance come fix it. The front door had a 2 inch gap in which you could see outside and the unit had several snakes killed around it. The back porch had rotten wood. There were several problems with the unit so I moved and now the want to bill me for moving and issues that should have been fixed when I lived there. I hung blinds and they want to charge me for them. It is still September and the unit has been re-rented and Remco is charging me for September's rent??!?! I have receipts where I have paid to have the carpet cleaned more than once because it smelled and was filthy. I have receipts where I paid someone to fix the garbage disposal.Desired SettlementI want them to review their balance due to me.
