Worth campus; she is actually a graduate of Remington College’s Baton Rouge campus. Nonetheless, we will address Complainant’s allegations in an effort to resolve this matter. Here, Complainant is alleging a dispute with the terms of her enrollment agreement. More specifically, Complainant is a graduate of the Medical Assisting program and claims that she did not receive her diploma after graduation. She also claims that Remington College would not allow her to take the state exam. As a resolution, Complainant is requesting a refund of her student loans.1/ Please note that this statement is based upon the investigation of the facts and information reviewed thus far and is submitted for the purpose of aiding the Bureau in its investigation and efforts to conciliate this matter. This statement, while believed to be accurate, does not constitute an affidavit or a binding statement of Remington College’s legal position, nor is it intended to be used as evidence of any kind in any other administrative or court proceeding in connection with Complainant’s allegations. By submitting this statement, Remington College in no way waives its right to present new or additional information at a later date, for substance or clarification. Moreover, by responding to this charge, Remington College does not waive, and hereby expressly preserves, any and all substantive and procedural defenses that may exist to the complaint and/or Complainant’s allegations.By way of brief background, Remington College is a private, non-profit vocational college that provides practical, hands-on training to help prepare students for new careers in fields such as dental assisting, pharmacy technician, and medical assisting. Complainant enrolled in the Medical Assisting program at Remington College’s Baton Rouge campus on or about August 24, 2009. At the time Complainant graduated, she had an outstanding tuition balance owed to Remington College. It is standard Remington College policy that official transcripts not be released to students who have outstanding balances. Further, Complainant should have received her diploma when she graduated. In order to assist Complainant, Remington College prepared a CPN for payments toward the remaining balance. Complainant has not made a payment since 2010 and currently has a balance of $137.96 owed to Remington College. Furthermore, the state of Louisiana does not have a governing body that oversees medical assistants and does not require medical assistants to be licensed or certified so it is unclear to what test Complainant is referring.Based on the forgoing, Remington College adamantly denies any wrongdoing and respectfully requests that this complaint be dismissed without merit.
