October 12, 2015This is in response to the complaint filed against my company, Remington Transmission on September 30 by [redacted].His vehicle was towed to my shop by [redacted] in the middle of August. His transmission was leaking fluid at an alarming rate. We were to replace the seal...

between the transmission and the transfer case. However, the transfer case had previous damage and instead of the seal we had to use black RTW. During our repairs we noticed that the extension housing was cracked. We called [redacted] and they sent their mechanic down to verify this. He did and [redacted] then provided us with the extension housing. The transmission was removed from the truck to perform this repair. When swapping out the extension housing, all we had to do was take the insides from one housing and put them in the other. They only go in one way. At this time we also replaced the C5 clutches and steels because this transmission had been run hot. The clutches and steels were scorched and the torque converter was blue. The truck was returned to the customer after this repair.I received a phone call at the end of August stating that it was leaking behind the transfer case and that his four wheel drive did not work. He dropped it off on September 2. We replaced the rear output shaft seal. Due to a scheduling conflict at my shop, I asked if he could drop the truck off on Saturday, September 5. informed him that the tech that installed the unit would be working and that he is also my best electrical guy. He said he would. The truck never returned to my shop.I received a call a couple weeks later that the transmission had failed, was then speaking to [redacted]'s girlfriend, [redacted] and the dealership. said to get the truck to my shop so I can determine what happened. [redacted] towed the truck to his friend's garage, [redacted]. spoke with [redacted] of [redacted] when the truck arrived. I then spoke to the owner, [redacted] the next day, [redacted] told me that the universal joint came apart. He had also notified [redacted] of this. The day prior when was talking to [redacted] she said that [redacted] said that the u-joint had seen better days. When I spoke to [redacted] regarding this he did not confirm this. When the truck was in my shop I had no reason to replace the u-joints. Therefore, we did not touch the u-joints, [redacted] said that the caps and snap rings had come out. This would most likely be the parts that [redacted] said [redacted] said we didn't put on the truck. I then informed the garage owner that had the snap rings and caps not been on when it left my shop then this would have happened sooner, most likely on our test drive. [redacted] also accused us of not putting the rear output shaft seal on the truck. I had sent one of my techs out to investigate and it was confirmed that there was a new seal on the truck. also know how the transmission cracked. According to my new tech who has over 30 years as a transmission mechanic, he stated that there would have been a vibration that would have caused this type of damage. There wasn't any vibration in the truck when it left my shop. This could possibly be from a bent driveshaft. In his experience with [redacted] transmissions, he has replaced bell housings due to siezed u-joints.As far as the money paid, they paid the dealer rate not regular customer rate.Respectfully submitted,Joe Anne R
