Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2015/06/02) */ You signed an month deal with LegalMatch, so it is understandable after only months for you to not completely understand all the ins and outs of our serviceSome examples: we currently do have a limited number of immigration attorneys in your region, and many more cases that remain unmatchedOccasionally clients don't want to be contacted by attorneys via telephone for work or personal reasons and instead limit their contact information to an email addressThe "client views" you mention is not correct, as clients can be notified of an attorney's response via means other than by logging in to their account Practicing law is a business, and it appears you have some apprehensions about pursuing clients earnestlyWe're sorry you disagree with the advice of our marketing managers (none of which have been fired btw), but the advice they convey leads to the greatest successWe can provide the venue and tools, but ultimately it is up to each attorney to secure the clients We are mostly confused about how you can claim our service is fraudulent when you have admittedly retained at least clients, and posted responses on the majority of cases we have produced for youWe understand you believe the return on investment to date hasn't met your expectations, but that is very different then what you are allegingYour contract reasonable negotiated and reviewed is completely legitimate, and we encourage you to continue to work with your marketing manager to aggressively seek out and secure new legal clients via LegalMatch

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/10/30) */
We are sorry you have so far been unsuccessful using the LegalMatch systemWe have numerous criminal defense attorneys in your exact Houston Texas market who are doing extremely well, so it's difficult to pinpoint the exact issueLegalMatch
provides the forum for clients and attorneys to meet, but after that initial intro, we have no control over which specific clients engage which specific attorneysIndividual attorneys decide for themselves how much they want to charge clients for an initial consultation, how much they require in money down (a retainer), who responds to the new cases, how frequently they review and respond to new cases, and how they differentiate themselves from other attorneys in the market
Since so many of these factors exist solely within the control of the attorney, we have to speculate to a certain extent why it works for most attorneys but isn't working for youAfter reviewing your account, here are some factors we have identified:
Requiring paid initial client consultationsFor the majority of your membership you have been requiring paid initial client consultationsWhile that may work in some markets, when clients are receiving several responses from interested attorneys, most of which offer free initial consultations, it is natural to assume clients would prefer a free initial consultation
Slow response time to new casesLegalMatch tracks how long it takes each member attorney to respond to new cases, and you consistently are on the slower sideAgain, this may not matter in some regions, but in a busy market like Houston criminal, timing is keyClients want to hear from interested attorneys right away since they are facing real legal consequencesIf you respond to a case last, it's not likely you will engage that client
Make sure the right person is speaking with the clientIn some instances that is probably you, the attorneyBut most law offices also have legal staff including administrators and paralegalsIf any of these people are talking with the client, ensure they are good at convincing the client you are the best person for the jobNothing can sabotage all your previous efforts like a staff member unable to close business
We truly believe our service is the best, and with the right coaching, you too can be successfulWe urge you to keep working with your marketing manager to find the right balance for your legal practice
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/11/10) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I did not require paid consultations for the majority of my membershipFirst, I offered a free consultationIndividuals would set up consultations and never show upI spent days (days!) in my office waiting for no showsI then starting charging a fee, with no successI am back to no fees, and still no success
Also, I have been slower to respond latelyBut for the better part of my membership, I had a same-day (same-hour, even) response timeThere cannot have been someone faster, given I responded from my phone, immediately upon receiving the notification
I would like to receive names and numbers of these "successful" Houston criminal defense lawyersI've never spoken to any of themI am also now the only person interacting with any leadsAnd I've checked with reputable lawyersMy rates are below marketAll in all, not a successful lead generating model
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/11/24) */
Again, it's difficult for us to explore solutions via a public Revdex.com forumYou raise several interesting points that deserve further discussion, and we remain committed to working with you to make your membership workYou are not the only person responding to prospective cases in your area, and we are contractually bound to not disclose the names of nearby successful attorneys

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/06/12) */
We are sorry you have so far not had success with the LegalMatch systemHowever, we think termination of our agreement is premature, considering you signed a year deal and only 1/months have transpired so farIt usually takes time to
become acquitted with our system, learning how to respond to cases and efficiently retain clients
Clearly LegalMatch is not a fraudulent organization as you allege - we have been in business since and helped thousands of attorneys all across the u.sgrow their legal practicesWe have already sent you prospective cases, of which you responded toWhy you haven't retained more clients is not entirely clear
That's why we encourage you to work with your marketing manager to learn how to best use our service to increase your retentionsOr to put another way, work smarter, not harderYour marketing manager can show you how making quicker responses to better clients, and avoiding wasting time on clients that have no case or can't pay, will improve your outlook about LegalMatch
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/06/17) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
No, I do not accept the responseTheir sale Las Vegas sale representative misrepresented and fraudulently advertised that all clients had the ability to pay for legal services, and the basis for the form of paymentThat was a major selling point in his representation of "viable" client that "need to retain" an attorneyThat representation lead into his statements that Legal Match was a referral service that our firm would have at least retained clients per month ranging between $15-$20k in retainersThat is not the truth, it was misleading and done only to obtain some kind of reliance on his representation to execute their agreement
The fact is of the "prospective clients" as I explained (and documented) previously to their "marketing manager", I responded out of kindness to provide some adviseIt is clear that all of these "legal match" potential clients/people need an attorney, they are lost, but cannot afford to pay for oneMost, if not all, have stated they only seek an attorney on "pro bono" or free basisThey cannot or, not willing to pay or afford legal services
This practice and information was all well known to the legal match representatives as the complaint against them have been documented for years
The fact is our office responded to each client, after initial emailsIn Legal Match's response they wants you to respond immediately after an emailYet, in talking with the potential client, they stated that (1) they wanted to wait until they reviewed or received our email; (2) we have been hung up upon; (3) they only wanted information and could not afford an attorney; and (4) provided inaccurate information to begin with
As I also explained their marketing approach does not work of a conservative and low income demographic area such as Riverside/San Bernardino CountyI also informed them, that their area was too largePotential clients in Indio are not going to seek an attorney some miles away, in Corona, when there are many other attorney's closer
Additionally, I was never provided the day grace period to review and find out what Legal Match was or if their representations were trueFrom what I can see, Legal Match is only interested in attempting to suck money from unsuspecting small businesses
Now, I have a chance to reviewed numerous other complaints by similar small law firms, as mine, where LegalMatch has done the exact same deceptive advertising to entice execution of their agreement and has done this kind of deceptive marketing over numerous yearsThese facts were and are material and never disclosedI certainly would not have signed any agreement had I had the opportunity to investigate legal match's representations and had the day trial use and know what I know now
Having been in business since 1946,our firm knows how to close clients that can afford to pay for legal services, even those on limited budgets
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/07/06) */
There seems to be a misunderstanding about what LegalMatch does and how we help lawyers build their practicesWe are not a legal referral service - that is clearly stated in your membership agreement and we differentiate ourselves from traditional referral services throughout our websiteWe also never make promises about specific case volume or dollar amounts generated since so many variables are out of our control, such as the time it takes an attorney to respond to cases, their hourly rates, and their professional experience
Responding to prospective clients that you feel can't pay your retainer out of the goodness of your heart, while admirable, does not make good business senseThat is valuable time you should be using to focus on viable clients who can pay your bills - cases that LegalMatch does have once you learn to target them, and stop wasting time on money losers
The internet is filled with dissatisfied customers in all businesses, not just LegalMatchOne dissatisfied lawyer can post one negative internet comment about LegalMatch and it will remain visible in google searches for years and yearsSatisfied LegalMatch attorneys rarely post internet comments because they are busy practicing law and don't want to ruin a good thing by encouraging more lawyers to join the service
Finally, to complain about your coverage area is not fair, since that is what you negotiated for and purchasedIf cases are outside your geographic area, you should work with your marketing manager to craft a new area that covers only the regions you practice in
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2015/07/09) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
No, the response is not satisfactoryThere is no "misunderstanding" based on deceptive representationsI do not wish to continue with Legal Match and have provided notice effectively of the firms cancellation of the contract based on the deceptive practice/misrepresentations made *** at the time of and to obtain executionLegal Match's statement that "we never make promises about specific case volume or dollar amounts generated" if based on ***'s representation and witnesses present in our office confirming such statement(s)The circular nature of Legal Match's argument is contrary to their alleged marketing consultant, whom stated, why "would we respond to all of the posted inquiries", even when you can tell that a response was a waste of timeAgain, Legal Match is presumed by the applicant to be "free" and "pro bono" site where they want free advise, nothing moreHad Legal Match been truthful and accurate in this description, no one would ever sign with them, as the complaints continue to roll in against themThe best solution at this juncture is to mutually agree to termination of the contract and the parties go their separate waysI am willing to waive the two months that I paid and wasted my time

We called the client directly and just got a call back today 5/2/17. We believe we are close to a resolution

LegalMatch continues to work with you through the present day, providing you with new cases and support via your marketing management team. You signed an month contract that is only months complete. We notice you are responding to a significant percentage of cases and providing
many free office consultations that aren’t ending up as paying clients. We believe there is room for improvement, and remain committed to helping you grow your legal practice

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: it is unsatisfactoryParole Evidence rule does not apply the same in standard form contracts where the language of the contract is drafted by one party without meaning input by the other.
Although, this is not satisfactory, I am not interested in pursuing anything anymoreNone of this pleases me but I do not believe I can get anywhere with this company by any means
I would just like to leave only a public review making it known that this business is not a good oneThe employees have no knowledge of the market in which they are selling a productIts method for resolving issues is not mutually beneficial when all the power is in their handsIt knowingly sells a product that may only work for very few people but keeps doing it anyway recognizing the cost of a suit is not likely worth the effort to the other partyIt is like *** selling a phone that it knows will not work for 85% of its consumersLegal Match promises that its system only sends legitimate customers to you but it has no way of knowingLegal Match fraudulently misrepresented itself to me and I lost $in the process

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 11, 2015/06/29) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We do not want further contact with the business that is not in writing. Please have them provide a written response. Our state bar prohibits us from contacting non-clients. Rule 7.3.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2015/07/01) */
From reviewing your file it appears you were having money problems before joining LegalMatch, which we were unable to help reverse during your 3 months using the service. We have said repeatedly on our site and the Revdex.com that LegalMatch is a long term solution. It takes time to become familiar with our service, and figure out how to best responds to prospective clients. It is unreasonable after only three months to expect to master weeding out undesirable clients from those you want to retain, posting timely and proper responses in an efficient manner, and gaining the skills to close on client engagements. Especially since it appears you decided so early on that our service wasn't going to work.
Since this time you have raised the issue of LegalMatch's ability to operate in all 50 states. This has already been addressed by the FTC in a letter we link to on our site: http://www.legalmatch.com/attorneys/barAssociations.html. All the other states that have weighed in on the issue agree that it is ethical for attorneys to participate in an online client matching service like LegalMatch.
You signed a two year deal with LegalMatch, and have only paid for two months to date. We believe that, as you are an attorney, it is reasonable to hold you to the terms of your contract. LegalMatch remains willing and able to perform their end of the bargain by offering prospective cases in your area and marketing manager support to guide you in effectively engaging clients.
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 15, 2015/07/13) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Please see our previous statements.

We have reviewed your file and do not see anything out of the ordinary when you joined our service.  You are also an attorney, so it is reasonable to assume you understand the Parole Evidence Rule and how you are bound by the clear terms of your membership contract.

We are sorry to hear that.  We send out lots of emails to consumers like yourself every day, and haven't heard any problems with unsubscribing until now.  We will look more into it.  In the meantime, we have unsubscribed you from all further emails.  Best of luck to you and your...

legal matter.

[redacted] called to say issue resolved with LegalMatch

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: I would like someone to review the conversation had to recruit me. The concern that I raised during those conversations and the promises made. Legal Match has not lived up to its promise nor have they done anything to work with me despite my conversations with them requesting it. No offers were made to compensate me for my losses. Sincerely,[redacted]

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/06/02) */
You signed an 18 month deal with LegalMatch, so it is understandable after only 5 months for you to not completely understand all the ins and outs of our service. Some examples: we currently do have a limited number of immigration attorneys in...

your region, and many more cases that remain unmatched. Occasionally clients don't want to be contacted by attorneys via telephone for work or personal reasons and instead limit their contact information to an email address. The "client views" you mention is not correct, as clients can be notified of an attorney's response via means other than by logging in to their account.

Practicing law is a business, and it appears you have some apprehensions about pursuing clients earnestly. We're sorry you disagree with the advice of our marketing managers (none of which have been fired btw), but the advice they convey leads to the greatest success. We can provide the venue and tools, but ultimately it is up to each attorney to secure the clients.
We are mostly confused about how you can claim our service is fraudulent when you have admittedly retained at least 5 clients, and posted responses on the majority of cases we have produced for you. We understand you believe the return on investment to date hasn't met your expectations, but that is very different then what you are alleging. Your contract reasonable negotiated and reviewed is completely legitimate, and we encourage you to continue to work with your marketing manager to aggressively seek out and secure new legal clients via LegalMatch.

We are sorry to hear you can't get in touch with the attorney you found through LegalMatch.  Most lawyers are paid on an hourly basis, which they deduct from a retainer paid by you.  If you paid a lawyer $700, then you should be entitled to $700 worth of legal work, which depending on the...

attorney's specific hourly rate, might be as little as 3 hours (at $250/hour).
If you feel the attorney did not do at least 3 hours of work, please contact our client customer service line either via email [redacted] or telephone [redacted].  We can contact the attorney on your behalf and informally try to reach a resolution.  If that's not successfully, you will still be backed by our Satisfaction Guarantee: [redacted]
But you may have already used up your $700 retainer.  Attorney activities like talking to you on the telephone, reviewing emails and drafting documents, etc. all count against your retainer.  If you are unwilling to pay an additional retainer for the attorney's time, then it is reasonable for the attorney to not return your telephone calls or emails.  Attorneys are paid by the hour for their time, and like you, don't like to work for free.
